I was 17 when I first set foot in WDW. It was my HS graduation present from my parents. My sister and I were able to stay there for 2 weeks and keep going back.
Dec 1973...I was 1 month old! My mom remembers getting many rude looks and comments about bringing a baby that young...but that began my love affair with Disney, so I am grateful to her.
She loves to tell me all the unique places she had to nurse me in. I don't think there were those wonderful baby rooms like now.
I was 25. We went to Epcot on our honeymoon for a day. My family actually lived in FL for 6 weeks while my Dad was in school the year that WDW opened, and they didn't take us!!
I was 10 months old, same time frame. My mom does the same thing. I think they did have those nice rooms, because every time we pass the one by the Crystal Palace now she says, "That's where I changed your diaper for the first time at Disney!"
I was 3 or 4 (I'm 24 now). My mom and my grandparents took me. I still have a picture of me up on a wooden railing with my Papa staning behind me and one of me standing next to the wooden indian statue looking up at it! Good times!!
17 - I went with my senior class in high school. My best friend got sent home for smoking, I was devastated and had to hang with the unfun people. It did give me a taste for what I liked about the place, even though I didn't go back for another 20 years.
I was 23. It was in 2001, and I was totally intent on proposing to Belle! I remember she dissed me somehow...like gave me a funny look when I waved or something. But, my little brother kept telling the cast members I was in love with Belle and it was very embarassing!
My family went there the summer after it first opened in 1971, so if that was 1972, I was going on 10.
We drove down from New Jersey. I-95 was mostly finished by then. Can you believe this? I found some brochures from that trip, and it looks like my folks paid $3 a night for us to stay at Days Inn motels along the drive.
After going to DL for around fifteen years, finally made it to WDW when I was 25. I went with a friend of mine and we had a great time. I have been back several times now with my family and love it so much that we just purchased a DVC membership!
