Reading another post about financing and DVC made me wonder how old most are when they bought into DVC. It seemed like many posts from more established folks who waited to buy DVC after they were very settled with most debts payed off.
Dh and I were 30/31 when we bought in two years ago. We financed a portion of our one contract that will be paid off soon. We don't have CC debt but have a car payment, (a third child required a mini van otherwise both cars would have been payed off), and I have student loans. Although I only have about a 1/3 of the typical loan debt that many have in my field since I worked full time while I was in vet school. Of course our house we bought 6 years ago is long from being paid off.
We looked at it in the sense that our kids are young now, (6, almost 4 and 9m). so we will be going to Disney now. Why not invest in DVC rather than yearly payments to CRO. It seemed that many suggested waiting until this poster was older since "you never know what life may throw at you, so you should wait until you are older and more established". I'm not saying that I disagree, I just felt that it was a good decision for us, even though we have other payments that could have been payed off first.
Just thought it would be interesting to see when most people bought in to see if we are a rarity in DVC.
