How old is too old for DD's to go with DH in the men's room?

Well then thats an issue with your boys. Why would you assume all 5yo boys feel the same way? Pretty silly on your part.
Like I said before, but like before you aren't reading or possibly can't comprehend, I don't always go in too. Many times I am outside with the other kids.
Do you have a 4yo in a wheelchair? I do. Along with an infant in a carriage? I do. Do you know how hard it is to get a wheel chair and a carriage into most bathrooms? I do.
Do you make many assumptions about other lives without having a clue? I don't.

You don't seem to understand, it is fine you don't go in with them WHAT isn't fine is sending the boys into the ladies room without you. They can go in alone but they should go to the correct gender bathroom if they are going alone. If they are going into the ladies room then you need to be with them. It right to have boys alone in the womens room they belong in the mens.

If you have an issue with young boys in the ladies room then thats your own personal issue. I see young boys in the ladies room all the time. It's very normal. Whether I am standing next to then makes no difference. You issues seem rather silly. But I guess everything has some kind of issue.

But why would BOYS go into a Womans room alone? and not the mens If you aren't with them. No one understand that. And you haven't explained your issue with sending boys into the wrong bathroom alone.

If I saw a boy coming in alone I would tell them they were in the wrong bathroom and to leave.

Like I said before, I will bring my son with me as long as he wants to. At age 5, I am GLAD he still wants to because I don't like letting him out of my site anywhere in the parks.

That being said, I wouldn't ever let him go alone for the same reason. When he's old enough that he doesn't want me there hovering, then it will be time for him to go to the men's restroom.

Because that is the decision I am making for my family. What I feel is the safest decision. Like I said in another post I can peek into the girls room and check to see who is in there, I can go in there if needed....these are things I can not do in the mens room. so I will continue to use the girls room as long as I see necessary.
If you said that to my boys they would probably think you were crazy and ignore you, lol. Upon them relating the story to em I would also think you were crazy. And laugh with them about it. It's a bathroom. Seriously people need to get a grip, lol

Just curious, what your DD going to the restroom alone at 4? Not sure why the double standard here.

Great point. :thumbsup2

Do you mind if I ask why there is a huge difference? I think it's a lot easier for boys to pee than girls so not sure why there would be a difference.

I carry hand sanitizer along so if they cannot reach the sink we use the hand sanitizer.

No, actually, I didn't let her go alone. And, as far as the boy, I usually have them with me so DH isn't usually with us to take him. Honestly, I don't trust the boy!! He's ALMOST 4 and I don't know if it's because he's my first boy, he seems WAY "younger" than my DD did at this age. I know he'll go in there, lock himself in a stall and climb on the floor to get out. He's done this in the women's bathroom with me...LOL

exactly! pot meet kettle. Same could be said to you. It is a bathroom get a grip send them into the correct bathroom. You are not any more right or entitled than any other family at Disney and it is not crazy for a girl to expect her bathroom to be unaccompanied boy or heck even boy free.

Why on earth are you sending them to the Ladies room alone?? That doesn't make one iota of sense.

If they can go alone, they should go to the men's room.

When my younger son was big enough to go alone, he gave us a "No, I am NOT a girl" and into the Men's room he went.

He is 27, came through the "danger" just fine. ;)

I have a grip on it. We use the bathrooms that we choose to use. works great for us, we're fine. Not sure why you think I need to get a grip, lol. You are the one here with the issue.

Again boys use girls bathrooms everyday. This is a normal occurrence. I'm surprised this is a new idea for you. You must not get out much:confused3

Boys going into the girls bathroom alone, without their mom, is not normal. Those little pictures on the bathroom door? They have a purpose. You aren't supposed to just pick and choose at will.

And if its so normal, do you use the men's room on occasion?

WHY is this your choice? It doesn't make any sense.

Like I have said again and again. I can not always go in with them. I feel more comfortable with them in the girls room...many young boys use the girls room...and so thats where they go.

What the hell is the difference between a 5yo with his mom or without? Oh...there is no difference.

Well, here's a new restroom kerfluffle for you....and it happened in WDW.

We were in the women's restroom in AK and a party came in who had been SOAKED riding Kali River Rapids. The poor college aged girl was completely drenched and unfortunately......wearing a white t-shirt. There's a lesson learned. :lmao:

Anyway, this was in March, and in addition to her shirt now being completely see through, she was freezing. She stripped off her shirt and held it up under the hand dryer to dry it off. A mother came out of the stalls with her two sons (one about 9 and the other 6ish...based on appearances) and FREAKED OUT that this young woman was standing there in her bra. :confused3 Um, hello? This is the LADIES room.

The young woman was very gracious, and simply told the mother that she was sorry, but if she's uncomfortable with her sons seeing women in possible stages of undress, she shouldn't bring them into the women's restroom. She stayed there and calmly continued to dry her shirt while this mother glared and try to hustle her sons out of there. Her older son protested that he hadn't washed his hands yet. :lmao:

Anyhow, just a thought for mothers bringing their sons in the women's room. Don't be surprised at what THEY might see.

And, in case anyone cares (and I'm pretty sure you don't, LOL), my kids started going to gender appropriate restrooms at kindergarten age. My son absolutely REFUSED to go in the GIRLS bathroom after he knew there was a difference. LOL

Ok it does sound like the one poster has her hands full with a child in a wheelchair and an infant, but I still would NOT be sending my DSs into the Ladies room alone without me. I would figure out a way to get us all in there if I felt they were too young for the Men's Room or we would be using the Companion bathroom. Yet I will defend a parent's decision of what age they deem their child mature enough but you (the parent) should be with them.

If we encountered the young lady drying her shirt, (when my guys were younger) I would have said excuse us and hustled them out of there. Certainly not a big deal if she was wearing a bra, to me that is like a bikin top

Oh I love this!!! And this is exactly what I meant. That young woman had every right to be doing what she was doing. To bad she didn't reach up to un hook her bra- wonder how fast that mom could have got that way too old boy out of there then? No wonder he wanted to wash his hands :rotfl2:
Probably the first time ever.

I just can't get over the entitlement mentality that I'm more important than anyone else in the world and only what I want to do counts and the hell with the rest of society.

Not all places have companion bathrooms. I still see no difference between me being in there or outside the door?

As far as the girl drying her shirt. I wouldn't care. It's a bra. Whatever.
Although there are laws about undressing in public(a public restroom in in public) so either way she would be in the wrong. But again I wouldn't care.

Wait...you do know there are laws about undressing in public. she was actually breaking the law, lol. Talk about an entitlement issue:laughing:

I'm not a lawyer but I would find it hard to believe since the act of going to the bathroom means removing your clothing. I think this would be very hard to prove and in a bathroom there is a certain amount of implied privacy from the opposite sex.

I would have to see that to believe it.

being in the bathroom is not the same as being in public. I can take all the pictures of you I want in public, but I can't of you in the bathroom.

Wait...you do know there are laws about undressing in public. she was actually breaking the law, lol. Talk about an entitlement issue:laughing:

I think a young woman is entitled to dry her shirt in the women's bathroom without having to worry about running into a 9yr old boy.

Do we really need to get that ridiculous?
Maybe we should all start calling the cops on the people brining the male children into the female restroom. That has to break some law somewhere.

I would leave him outside the door. Would you accompany him on his bike ride around the neighborhood too? .
I dont know as I said my son is way too young for this to be an issue but 10 just seems so young to me for them to be left alone in a strange place even for a few min.

I still see no difference between me being in there or outside the door?
I'm sure you don't. It seems that you can't see past your own sense of entitlement to do as you please.

Like Hannathy, I would tell two young unaccompanied boys that they were in the wrong bathroom and point out where the mens room was located. Your sons might think I was the crazy one or they might realize that boys DON'T belong in a LADIES room without their mommy. I'm sorry that you have other issues that make it difficult for you to accompany them into the bathroom and then into the stall, but I would think those difficulties would make it a priority to encourage your young sons to become MORE independent.
