How old is the oldest piece of your wardrobe?

I have a shirt in my closet from the Outback Red clothing line. I still wear it to work. Shirt is still in good shape and no fading or pulling to it. It must be at least 18 years old.

I have lots of pieces that I still wear that I bought from about 83-86 ( lots of them are very classic pieces from the Limited's "Outback Red" line).

I still have a prom dress, from 1981.

I had it shortened a few years ago, to wear to a wedding. My oldest DD ( 11 ), can't wait to wear it to her first Homecoming. LOL

I have a shirt or two of my dad's that I wear around the house... tehy are older than me. Outside wearing the oldest shirt I have is a T shirt that is from 1990 and next up is one from 1993. I wear them both often :)

Reading this thread.........am I ever........

Here goes:
-I have two cardigan 100% wool sweaters that were my mother's from the mid 1950's ! I still wear them over a white t-shirt!
-a cotton sweater I bought in 1981. Showing a bit of wear, but I can't part with it....you should see the looks from family when I wear it :scared1: (it's peach colored......remember peach? ;) )
- my winter jacket from 1989 - a London Fog.......I bought it at a ski sale in the dead of summer - it was about 90F.....I still wear it and it looks great!
- I just found my K-way jacket from University.....- it'll go back into regular rotation soon! :teeth:
- a number of sweatshirts from early 80's - the white ones with logo's on them......vintage sweatshirts are the best!!
- I have kept my lacoste shirts from my "Preppy" days from 1980........maybe they'll come back and my DD can be ultra cool wearing them....:smooth:
and doxdogy......OMG I have a sleeveless Outback Red shirt still in my dresser drawer.......I think I bought it to go with the Peach sweater.........I totally forgot about it until I read your post :teeth:
Project for tomorrow: Clean out the closet!!

Oldest thing I own, but don't wear, is my grandfather's Gulf shirt with his name on the pocket, from when he owned a Gulf station. I'm actually wearing the oldest active piece of my wardrobe--a 12 year old sweatshirt. I have 3 of them.

I have a tank top from 1982/83 (I was in junior high)

Clothes I wear still? Around 7 years old. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_3_22.gif' border=0></a> Clothes still in the closet that are there just because? Well, I still have my old nursing uniforms when I was in nursing school from 25 years ago. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_2_103.gif' border=0></a>

I think my oldest thing is an old crocheted poncho my mom made for me as a teen (circa '72-'74). One of my kids has been wearing it around the house this winter!:) I had forgotten that I even had it when they found it.

I have a sleep shirt / nightgown that I still wear. It was given to me at my bridal shower in 1984.

I have three really old pieces, but I can't wear any of them

First is a Gunne Sax dress my mom bought me for my sixth grade dance. I can't stand the thought of throwing it out.
I guess that was 1986?

Second is a pair of jeans I loved in high school. The knee is ripped, they are all faded, baggy fit.
Circa 1991?

Third is a simple knit shirt my DH bought me when we were dating.
He was always broke, so it meant a lot to me that he bought it.
Circa 1992.......

Someday I hope to fit back into the jeans and shirt.

I have some dresses that are 16yrs old

I beleive it ! I still have at least 7 pieces that are in my current wardrobe, from the early 80's I would think.

I have a navy blue turtleneck that I still wear that I bought in 1989. It doesn't fit too well (I was so much skinnier then) but I wear it under a sweater and you only see but so much of it.

My dad though has a pair of red, white, and blue striped searsucker shorts that my mom bought him for their honeymoon. They'll be married 48 years in June! They are tattered and torn, but he still wears them once a year....for July 4th of course :D
