How old do you feel (inspired by the older mom thread)?

Allright, so as an older mom (42 with a 20 month old) I am curious to know, just how old do you feel? I don't feel old, and apparently I don't look like I am ready to be put out to pasture yet. I know I don't "think old", but if my real age has anything to do with it, am I old? I remember a time when being 30 was considered old (oh no I've just dated myself LOL). On the debate board a poster said she felt like she was getting old at 34. When I was about 20 I met an old woman (90) who was vibrant and very lively. To this day I hope I will be young like her. Is age all in your head? Only in body? Or a combination of both?

What is old?

Don't know. Don't feel it. I know the bod isn't as youthful as it once was, but that's about it.

I'll trip the lights fantastic til the day I die.

I'm one of the "older women" of the DIS but I think I stopped aging mentally when my son was born. So I guess my answer is that I feel like I'm 26 :)

Lets see, I'm 38 and I feel about 37 1/2. :teeth:

Yikes...I am almost 39...only days left :(
I feel physically like I may be aproaching about 60. Looks wise I hope I don't look that old, but closer to my age. Mentally I think I am at the ripe old age of 24 :)

33 and I ACT like i'm 7, feel like I'm 21...

In general, I usually feel like I'm in my late 30's or early 40's. However, due to some issues these past few months, there were times I felt I was somewhere in my 60's to 80's!!!!

It's all relative and it's only a number.

I'm 37 but inside I don't feel any different than I did at 18. Hopefully I've gotten smarter though:D

I am 38 and just had my 20 year HS reunion. I felt pretty good about how I have aged compared to some, but some of the girls downright have NOT changed at all!! Makes me sick and it's just not fair! ;)

I don't feel old but maybe that is because my kids are only 5 1/2, 4 and 1. I better not fall apart until I have some retirement time! lol

I feel 24 :)

I am really......uh.......29.......yeah, that's it.... ;) :smooth:

Ah, I see you read my famous DB thread! ;)

I am 34, yes. I FEEL like I am "pushing 40." I am tired a lot, I'm anemic and my joints ache before a rainstorm even at this age. I have been in the workforce and worked very hard constantly since my teens and I'm starting to really feel it.

By 45 or 50, I hate to even think about how I'm going to feel.

I cant even imagine how I'd feel if I had a kid to chase around and care for. I know the stress and strain would age me about 10-20 years! I am tired as it is!

I dont think you can fool your body. You are what your age is.

I definately think that "age" is in your head. There is no denying what growing older does to your body, but "feeling old" is a state of mind!! I once had an 88 year old patient who told me she was always surprised when she walked past a mirror...her reflection was an 88 year old woman, but in her "heart" she was still..and always...25. Annnd....I am 45....with the heart of a 10 year old!!!:p

I am 46 and feel younger than I did in my 30's. I work 2 jobs and am the Mom of an 8 year old. My DD keeps me active and that keeps me feeling younger. :) There were years before she was born where I would come home and hit the couch for the night. Now we are on the go most nights with one activity or another. I love it :)

My body will grow old, that is out of my control. But I am not giving in without a fight :)

Have you thought about seeing a doctor, GG? I am only a year younger than you, and I don't feel at all like I am pushing 40.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I am 33. I feel so young inside, but then I think about everything I have accomplished and experienced, and that makes me realize how long I have been alive. But I'm like Kelsie in that I am fighting age every step of the way. I guess it helps that I have many aunts and older cousins (in their 50's, 60's, etc.) who don't look or feel their age. I want to be like them, and I intend to!

Lily, yes I have been to drs, they cant do anything with me. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and anemia. I take iron for the anemia, I take Naproxen for joint pain, I take Prozac for depression and there's no cure for Chronic Fatigue, I just wait it out.

On the plus side, I LOOK younger than my age. I am often mistaken for 20 something rather than 30 something!

I'm almost 23 and I feel 16 and act it most of the time. My brother thinks I'm a delayed teeny bopper. :teeth:

Depends....if DS is trying to explain what an MP3 player does then I'm old:eek: But if I tell him about all our LP's, then I'm 16:D

I turned 42 last month and feel much younger and healthier than I did in my "youth". 10 years ago I felt like I had Chronic Fatique Syndrome and now I can party until 4am.

I now believe that attitude and the way you treat your body has a big impact on how "old" you feel and look. Many in my family have been blessed with a youthful face but bad habits can rob that.

Friends told a story once about a very elderly woman dancing (with the support of a chair) with multi generations of her family at a reunion. I want to be that woman in 50 years.
