I just signed up for Southwest Airlines "Ding" service-does anyone know how often new offers are posted? I'm trying to find a cheap airfare price from Albany, NY to Orlando-I'm debating if I should buy the Manchester NH ding rate and just drive 3 hours to that airport or if I should wait and see if they offer anything cheap from Albany.

new dings come out daily, and are only good until later sometime the day they are offered, end time varies.

You also may get 2 or 3 different DINGs per day, so just because you only see 1 out there in the morning, doesn't necessarily mean that will be the only DING for the day. You really have to keep checking all of the time.

For instance, today I had two different DINGs. One expired at 3:00 and one expires at 5:00 P.M.

if the 5pm ding is global we are not seeing it for our market here in buffalo....

so it is possible they have good fares but since one cannot see them, they will expire without ever seeing them

DING is a marketing sales tool used by Southwest which puts "$ale" airfares on for a few hours...then they are gone...

sometimes they reappear later sometimes not, so the catch is if you get dinged you try to book it at the lower fare ......

Since signing up for ding last week, I haven't gotten a single ding. Is that normal?? It is on my laptop so when my laptop goes to sleep, ding discontects. But I do make sure to reconnect several times a day. Should I call?

make sure when you connect that the bottom of the window says....

Ready

and not

Error communicating

if it says error it may be a connection problem that their tech department can sort out...

It did say ready. But I did figure out what happened. My husband is a computer guy so naturally our personal accounts do have admin privledges. As soon as I signed in as admin, there was a ding (even though not 1 min prior in my account there was nothing)

They offer Ding's several times a day. However not all markets are available every day. I fly from MHT to MCO. For my July trip (unfortunately not DW) :sad2: I started out at around $190 and am now at $125. For Sept., I started out at $174 and just yesterday got down to $135. I'm hoping it will go lower. I love saving $$ and getting credit for future flights. SWA is the best!

I'm hoping they repeat some of the "DINGS" as well. We ended up cancelling one vacation to return to WDW and wouldn't you know it, during that time there was a $49 DING for BWI to MCO and I missed it!!! I'm praying that it comes back around because all that's out there now is $79 and I'm trying to refrain from booking that!

:flower: There is a DING good until 1:30 pm Central Time for $101 each way...Albany to Orlando and Buffalo to Orlando. HTH :sunny: Rebecca

I missed it strmtroopr96! I just logged on and it was over! Just my luck! I am hoping that they will have it again soon! Does anyone know how much they wanted from Hartford to Orlando?

Not Disney related but I got a Ding fare from Providence to Baltimore to see the Sox and it was $67.70 total including fees. I love the Ding!

:wizard: There was also a Ding Fare for about $71 for Hartford to Orlando I think. I think these same Ding Fares come out at least once a week if not every few days. I have seen them come up a few times now so just keep looking. Good luck! :flower: Rebecca

chabs, When are you flying?? SW website is now offering $73 one way from ALB to MCO depending on your dates. HTH :flower:

I bought the DING fare today from Hartford to Tampa today for about $126 each total round trip. We are visiting relatives near there anyway-so that's not too inconvenient. I figured I could always change them if something better comes up. Do you have to cancel over the phone if you want to get the "newer" fares once you have tickets or can I do it online? I've never done that before so I'm not really sure how it works. Thanks!

Keep watching. Like someone above said, they seem to repeat at least once a week. I also fly from ALB but sometimes fly from BDL when the fares are much better. Go to the website and check fares from BDL to MCO. Many times they have $79 each way. Don't know when you're going but every year they've had $49 from ALB to MCO in September, announced in August. Good luck and remember SWA is the top banana!
If your reservation is ticketless you can change it online and receive a credit that's good for a year on the balance.

We are going 8/28 to 9/11-where are you finding the $73 rates? I'm hoping to change our tickets to fly directly out of Albany if I can find the cheap flights.

chabs the good rates were for early august ......

you can find it under "Use Southwest shortcut" in the Travel Center

looks like the good fares might not be coming in this year....the fun fares are cosistently at 125$ from buf to mco similar for albany recently, they just had a ding but it was only for 100$ each way.....

maybe since these markets are now established they do not have to offer the 49$ rates any more
