Rope Drop (RD): making it through the turnstiles & bag checks before the official park opening time, therefore being there in time to see the "rope drop." During an average week long trip, how many times do you generally do this?

(I'd count making it for a morning EMH as RD because you are essentially beating the midday crowds, but that's debatable)

In a week long trip, we would do rope drop 4 or 5 times.
The only park we don't do rope drop in is Epcot.

Every single day!!:cool1: We also do EMH's in the mornings if we had planned to be at that park. I make a special point to do this at MK because we get so much done in that extra hour.

Definitely at MK!!! It is do much fun! So much can be accomplished in the am hours!:thumbsup2

DHS- yes

The others, not so much

On our most recent trip, 3 out of 4 days. One was rope drop, 2 were just after rope drop(5-10 mins after)

During our trips we only make rope drop 1-2 times and this is only ever because we have a breakfast reservation otherwise we would never make rope drop. We go for an extended period (minimum 3 weeks, this time 32 days) and we will still only hit rope drop 2 times.

In all of our visits, we never made it to rope drop and were able to do everything we wanted to do with not too much of a wait. We have visited in slow times (October and January), so that helps.

We are visiting in May this year and are planning to try RD at the MK so that we can be sure to get to all of the NFL attractions. We are also planning on RD at HS because of Jedi Training academy and we are doing an 8am Akershus breakfast, but only because of availability. If I can schedule a later breakfast before we leave, I will.

We do it everyday. I would rather get there early and knock a few big rides out and then go back to hotel after a late dinner. My kids are pretty worn out by the end of the day.

Every day except those two mornings following late nights (for Fantasmic and Wishes/MSEP). So six days in an 8-day trip.

Never, no matter how much I want to. And unless I get a divorce it's never going to happen. My DH will never, ever, no matter how much I beg, get up and out in time to make rope drop. We've managed to leave the resort at the time the rope is dropping in a given park but never managed to be at the gate. It's pushing it for me to get him out at 9:00. He hates nothing in this world more than getting up early when on vacation.

My next trip may well be just me and my DGD. If it does happen, then I'll finally have my dream of making a rope drop

Haven't been to one yet. Now, we have had a breakfast inside a park before opening, but never been to a rope drop. Whenever the park opens and we get there 30 minutes to an hour after opening, so be it.

Do you stay onsite? If so, why can't you leave early and let him catch up to you when he's ready? We will probably do this a couple times in our next trip because DD and I like to get up and get going but DS and DH like to sleep in.

we do rope drop for each of the 4 parks over a 7 day period. We get all the "must-do's" done with little or no hassle. The other days we sleep in and then go take in the less popular/busy attractions. This also allows us plenty of time to stop and just soak in the atmosphere.

I'm a Rope Drop person. My family goes along with it because they know we get a lot done in the first couple of hours. My dh and I were just in WDW over the weekend and I told him we could skip RD at Epcot on the first morning because we had arrived so late (after midnight). Didn't matter much, because we were still at the park at about 9:05. ;). I'm usually not a morning person, but at Disney, I like to get up and go.

As usual, there's a choice missing. :rotfl:

How about, four times in the 30+ years that I have been going regularly. Once about 4 years ago at MK, just so I could see what was happening. I enjoyed it but not enough to go through all the hassle of early morning rush to do it. The next time was accidentally at Epcot...got there at 8:30 thinking it opened at 8:00 (didn't it was 9:00). That was nothing really. Wait til opening, rope drop, walk in. The next was MK again, because I went with my daughter and her family and they wanted to see it. And lastly, was that same year at DHS because my grandson wanted to sign up for Jedi Training.

I usually still get there shortly after opening, but, not rope drop. I always figure there will be enough waiting after I'm inside, no need for it from the get-go! :)

We rope drop every morning that we can. 9AM isn't all that early for us so it isn't like we are putting ourselves out or anything.
