We are on track (still) to become DVC members next month and I am curious how many trips you take in a year/how you use your points ...

We were thinking of taking three trips in one year (2nd week May 2015, Dec 2015, First week May 2016)- 7 day trips-- maximizing APs- using almost three years worth of points (2014-16)- then taking time off, and doing the same thing a year or so later.....

Do you prefer to just do one longer trip a year?
A few shorter trips a year?

Things we have to factor in- We fly from Ohio, and have to consider school schedules as the kids get a bit older.....

We used to vacation at WDW 3 times a year, 7 to 10 days each stay. We also used to spend a lot of time in the parks.

After our F&W vacation later this month we will be changing to a once a year stay in December. We don't like the heat, the crowds, and December is our favorite time of year at Disney. We spend most of our time at the resorts now and take the time to enjoy the little things.

We are using our points at DLR, and booking long week day, or weekend trips. Aulani is literally on our horizon, as is another west coast cruise on the Wonder. We haven't been to WDW in years, but might stay at our VWL base to book 11 months out to visit Universal, and other FLA sites.

We're new DVC owners having bought at GCV, we used to go yearly to DL for two weeks. We will now go every two years for two weeks. :goodvibes

Roughly three trips a year, 3 to 5 nights each. Labor day weekend, usually mid january, and end of may. We also usually squeeze in a couple nights for FW in october.

I have stayed in WDW DVC most of January for 3 years now, will not in 2015, we are trying to sell our Ohio house and move it FL.

Apart from that, we probably go to WDW 5 times a year. This year we made it to DL as well! We have 3 DCL cruises booked within the year, and will go to DL Paris (& the Beaches of Normandy!) next year.

We do travel other places besides Disney. We want to travel as much as we can, while we can!:goodvibes

It all depends on our plans. If we are taking extended family, then we will skip a year to bank points. On those trips we will go at least 7 nights in a larger unit.

This year, we got AP's, so we will go 3 times.

We've owned for 10 years now and what I like is the flexibility to choose if it is a long trip, a large unit, short trips, etc.

Usually 3- 2 week trips in a year at WDW, every other year
And then 3-4 5 night trips to DLR every other year.

Hope to get Aulani to fit in sometime, but DS wants to use some points to go with his wife for their anniversary, so we will have to wait longer.

We stay in WDW maybe two or three times a year for two or three days each. But! During our winter season while living nearby WDW we'll drop into WDW once or twice a week. :)

we do at least 2 trips yearly. this year we will have done 3 and our first year as members we also did 3. as our kids get older it will be twice a year cause we want to be able to go to the beach in nc with friends also on a yearly basis. we have a great group of 5 other families who spend a lot of time together cause our kids are similiar ages and want to keep a tradition of yearly nc beach trips.

We do a similar WDW vacation schedule OP! We are currently in a AP cycle year. We hadn't been in almost two years when we started our current AP cycle in Dec. over Christmas for 12 days. We are headed down again in Nov. over T-day for another 12 days. We will then take time off from WDW and go again in Dec. 2016.

We have done two previous "AP" cycle years where we also got a third trip in over summer and our other trips were between 8 - 10 days. This really works out great for us because of school and sports schedules plus it we find we are really excited and eager for when we start up our Disney trips!!! Its been neat because by the next cycle our kids are taller and into bigger or different attractions.

Now we also visit HHI in the summer almost every year. Last summer was the first time we didn't go in 8 years. However this year we went over spring break and really liked that too and that might work out better for us as our summer is now being over taken by summer tournament teams.

In our off years we explore other places and take longer ski vacations - wish DVC had really built that ski resort in CO!!!! :)

We're from the west coast so it takes a lot of time/money to get to WDW, so we end up going only 1-2 a year and usually for 2-5 weeks at a time.

I'd love to be able to do more shorter trips, just isn't possible.

DW and I make multiple short trips to use our DVC.
We prefer a smaller resort room (Studios 95% of the time) and more days.
We want to obtain enough points to do 2 - 5 nights per month, every month of the year.
The most points trips in one 12 month period, 11-1 DCL and 10 DVCs.

We've been owners since 2008. We only use the pts at Disney World.
We get an AP every other year. Kids have both February and April vacations--so we'll do April (7 nts), October (3-4 nts), February (7 nts.)...then a 14 month break and do it all over again. When they had the Premium pass special (cheaper than the regular AP), we did 4 trips on the PAP to have a chance to use the water park/disneyquest portion--we added a 6 nt trip in August. We've had a chance to stay at all the Disney DVC's except BLT and tree houses.

Since our son is in college and will be graduating this year, it's just the two of us. We like to go twice a year, one longer trip, one shorter trip. And the shorter trip is combined with our other timeshare at a FL Gulf Coast beach.

We have been buying annual passes every other year and go 3 times in that 12 month period (usually). Sometimes we rent the points in the off year, sometimes we bank & borrow, sometimes we still sneak in a visit or two. It depends on flights etc.

We've made it four times this year on the DVC PAP. One longer trip, two for 5-6 days, and just now returning from two days before a cruise.

After our pass expires in October, we will likely skip a year. But we will still get our mouse fix- VGC trip coming up this winter.

I so envy your lifestyle, especially the idea of spending most of January in WDW:worship:

DisneyFirstTimer welcome to the neighborhood! We've been DVC members for about 9 years, and nearly all of our points have been for WDW trips. We did the members cruise with points last year which was a lot of fun. We'll likely do more cruises over the years, an Aulani trip is in the cards, and certainly DLR.

It's doubtful we'd visit HH, VB, or internationally with points.
Honestly if we never did anything except WDW I'd be fine. Experiencing WDW as a member is just the best feeling. :earsboy:

We spend about thirty nights a year in a one bedroom. This year the thirty nights will be broken up on an 11 night trip, a fourteen night trip and a five night trip. We are going in october, January and April. We too spend less time in the parks.
