How often do you go and do you ever get tired of it?

We go twice a year and dont tire of it. But, we relax more since joining, and dont feel the need to pack it all in.

We have been members for almost five years. When we first joined we went 2-3 times per year staying Sun-Fri to maximize points. As our girls have gotten older we've gone for longer stays and we're now down to once a year (although our June trip was 11 nights!). We still love it. After our recent long trip we thought maybe it's time to scale back and sell off a contract or two (we have three contracts!). So we talked to our girls thinking they were ready for some different trips. To our surprise didn't want to give up Disney. Guess we're staying!

So how was it...dropping back to once a year??? We have been to Disney 3 times in 2007 and again this year...but I want to try and only go in the summer for like a 9 or 10 day trip. It :scared1: me though. :rotfl:

I have a HH question......what all is there to do there. My kids see that promo on the DVC dvd's we get when they do show all the resorts and they think there is not much there. How far is the beach? Can you walk there or do you drive?? Our kids are 17, 14 and 9. thanks

The best way to describe Hilton Head is "a cruise on land". They have all kinds of activities/programs that you can participate in and it's a small resort so the staff really gets to know you.

They offer bike rentals (the island is great for biking!), a crab-fishing pier, kayak trips, dolphin cruises, arts & crafts activites, "Kids Night Out" (where kids go to the movies or a local fun center with the counselors so mom/dad can have a night to themselves), storytime in front of the fireplace (complete with milk & cookies) and lots more. There's a nice pool w/waterslide, a kiddie pool and a hot tub. There is a nice mini-golf place right near the resort as well.

The resort is on the marsh side of the island but they have a Beach House across the way. To us it's the best of both worlds. We love to get a marsh view room and watch all of the wildlife come and go. Then we bike over to the beach house (or take the free shuttle) and spend time there. The beach house has a pool, quick-serve restaurant, rec room and bar.

HH is really fantastic! We try to get there every other year.

Many of you have mentioned one thing that DH and I love about the concept of being DVC members...doing a Disney vacation at a slower pace and not rushing to the next thing, be it a meal, attraction, show, etc. I still love making ADRs and deciding those, but that would be the only thing to think about if we go often and stay longer. The first thing DH said to me a couple of days into our 5-day trip last month (with 5 days at the parks) was, "next time we should go much longer, like 10 nights, and go to a park every other day or at least have a couple of days to relax and we should stay deluxe because there is more to do without having to leave the hotel." I planned very well and we didn't wait on long lines, but it was very tiring and a lot to do in 5 days!

Exactly.......we have found that we are slowing down and trying to spend some slower days at Disney. There is nothing worse than to stay at a nice resort and NOT SPEND TIME THERE. Don't get me wrong we love going to the parks.....but when you stay at DVC you have nice accomodations and the resort itself has fun stuff to do too. We loved BCV ...my kids were wanting us to buy points there. They could probably go back and do the parks far less because of what the resort has to offer. The boys ages 14 and 9 loved the community hall at OKW and spent time there daily when we were there before moving over to BCV. I think we all get caught up in the COMMANDO PARK thing for a while....maybe years before we start to realize it is okay to s l o w down and still have a wonderful vacation. I think we are :scared1: we will miss a great day at the park with maybe short lines, or walk on rides and so we get up early and stay there late and before we know it....we are EXHAUSTED AND CRANKY. This has happened to us and when our kids who ADORE DISNEY start saying "what time do we have to get up?" or "do we have to get up early?" you know that they too need to slow down and have a more relaxing vacation.

Actually we thought 11 nights was too long for us (although we flew this time and we usually drive . . . if we had driven I'm sure we would have appreciated some extra "recovery" time). We're thinking 7-8 nights will be our optimum length. So we have an 8-night trip planned for April 2009. We're hoping dropping it to once a year will allow us to travel other places also. We just returned from our first trip to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. It was fun and definitely different than WDW (but it WASN'T DVC!).

See I am thinking7 or 8 nights will be the min. we will ever stay. We always fly.....but I think 9 is doable occasionally but really after that I will probably come home and see how much money we spent and say "OUCH".

As you see in my signature, we go about 1-2 times a year, but this year I'll be there 3 times!

No, I never get tired of it. I love it there and there's so much to do I have a bigger problem fitting it all in. We usually go for about 8 days, due to school schedules, our longest trip has been 12 days.

My only problem is I need more points!

Tired of WDW??? Never. :lmao: Prior to joining DVC I had been to WDW over 25 times and now, being owners for almost 10 years I still can't see myself ever getting tired of it. DH is very happy with one trip per year with me usually during the summer. But me on the other hand will take 2 trips per year and if the air fare wasn't so darn expensive I'd be there more times!!

We own 150 points at BWV and have not yet tired of going to WDW. We go every 12-15 months and stay for about 5 nights each time. I think 10 days at a time would be too much for us. We don't spend every day in the parks either. Sometimes it's good to go and just relax.

I LOVE WDW! I live way up in Ohio and i got around 2 times EACH YEAR and i never get tired of it. I LOVE DISNEY!!!:mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum

We go at least twice a year- a week in May for our anniversary and a week in December. One of those trips we get a 2 bedroom and treat friends- usually the December trip.
I really haven't kept track of how many trips we have taken but I keep saying "THIS time we will finally go to Jellyrolls!" or "Maybe we will check out Sea World or Universal this next time?" but it still hasn't happened. ;)

Hey, I think I've been a Dis member for 10 years now! Wow! I lost a lot of post counts from board changes over the years...
