We go twice a year and dont tire of it. But, we relax more since joining, and dont feel the need to pack it all in.
We have been members for almost five years. When we first joined we went 2-3 times per year staying Sun-Fri to maximize points. As our girls have gotten older we've gone for longer stays and we're now down to once a year (although our June trip was 11 nights!). We still love it. After our recent long trip we thought maybe it's time to scale back and sell off a contract or two (we have three contracts!). So we talked to our girls thinking they were ready for some different trips. To our surprise didn't want to give up Disney. Guess we're staying!
I have a HH question......what all is there to do there. My kids see that promo on the DVC dvd's we get when they do show all the resorts and they think there is not much there. How far is the beach? Can you walk there or do you drive?? Our kids are 17, 14 and 9. thanks
Many of you have mentioned one thing that DH and I love about the concept of being DVC members...doing a Disney vacation at a slower pace and not rushing to the next thing, be it a meal, attraction, show, etc. I still love making ADRs and deciding those, but that would be the only thing to think about if we go often and stay longer. The first thing DH said to me a couple of days into our 5-day trip last month (with 5 days at the parks) was, "next time we should go much longer, like 10 nights, and go to a park every other day or at least have a couple of days to relax and we should stay deluxe because there is more to do without having to leave the hotel." I planned very well and we didn't wait on long lines, but it was very tiring and a lot to do in 5 days!
So how was it...dropping back to once a year??? We have been to Disney 3 times in 2007 and again this year...but I want to try and only go in the summer for like a 9 or 10 day trip. Itme though.

Actually we thought 11 nights was too long for us (although we flew this time and we usually drive . . . if we had driven I'm sure we would have appreciated some extra "recovery" time). We're thinking 7-8 nights will be our optimum length. So we have an 8-night trip planned for April 2009. We're hoping dropping it to once a year will allow us to travel other places also. We just returned from our first trip to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. It was fun and definitely different than WDW (but it WASN'T DVC!).
We go annually. When folks say, "Don't you get tired of it?" my response is, "Do you get tired of Christmas?"![]()
