How often are there airfare sales?

I'm looking for tickets to MCO in May and in June. I looked early this year and saw a fabulous deal for $59 each way from Airtran but I played the waiting game - and lost. Now the airfare if back up and I'm waiting for another deal. Are there any guidelines as to when airfare goes on sale? Like certain holidays or times of the year?

I'm waiting for the next Airtran sale, too. I'm kicking myself for not buying tickets earlier, but I really thought I'd see one more sale fare. We are traveling at the end of May - early June. Part of my problem was the last Airtran sale was good for my return trip, but still too much for the flight down. I'm not convinced I'll get a low fare for my flight down because it's a holiday weekend. Bummer!

Anyone know when the next Airtran sale is coming?
