How Obama Got Elected

It didn't start with Clinton. I'd venture a guess that most Presidents have been vilified by the losing side. This is nothing new. But this thread isn't about that. Why can't you acknowledge that the people highlighted in the video are disturbing? Doesn't it make you wonder (and angry) that they (or any voter for that matter) can be so clueless and misinformed and how they got that way (and they vote)?

Or should we not EVER complain or be concerned about it and just accept it as it is?

We all agree with the this.

The problem is that McCain supporters imply that ALL of us who voted for Obama are clueless.

There are thousands of people who vote, on either side of the aisle, that don't know their ..... from their elbow. Sometimes I wonder if we should need to take an IQ test. To say that the BO are the ones "wanting" is an insult and a joke. Just read these boards.

I agree but apparently, it 2004, ALL (according to at least one international newspaper) the people who voted for Bush were dumb. Was that insulting too?

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that one side is more educated or less educated than the other. It's true that most of the people I personally know who are republicans are less educated than the democrats I know, but that just happens to be how it is in my part of NC. Frankly, the only republicans in this otherwise liberal area tend to be rednecks, but I'm not going to say that all republicans in NC or elsewhere are that way. I'm sure if I lived somewhere else, it could be the other way around.

Face it. The republicans got beat this time. The ran a candidate that very few of his own were excited about and then they named a VP who is just plain frightening to many Americans. Deal with it. Get over it. Better luck next time.

Zogby Poll
512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points
97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates
Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions
57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)
81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)
82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)
88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)
56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).
And yet.....
Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes
Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter
And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!
Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.
Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

They voted for a used car salesman with very little political experience, what did you expect?

I thought we DIDN'T CARE what the rest of the world thinks? If you don't care, how can you be insulted?

Wow, a whole TWELVE voters were interviewed for this piece.....yeah, surely that means it is all true.

http://www.howobamagotelected.com/

On November 4th, 2008 millions of Americans were shocked that a man of Barack Obama's limited experience, extreme liberal positions and radical political alliances could be elected President of the United States. For many of these Americans, the explanation was rather simple... the news media, completely enamored with Obama, simply refused to do their job.

On Election day twelve Obama voters were interviewed extensively right after they voted to learn how the news media impacted their knowledge of what occurred during the campaign. These voters were chosen for their apparent intelligence/verbal abilities and willingness to express their opinions to a large audience........

The cost to become President of the United States in 2008.......$650,000,000.00. What will it cost in 2012?:scared1:

- How many McCain/Palin supporters think Obama is really a Muslim?
- How many think that even if he were a Muslim (which he is not), that this would be deplorable?
- How many think he supports infanticide?
- How many think that he really isn't a United States citizen?
- How many seriously believe that his middle name alone is cause for concern?

Etc., etc.

The man who commissioned the poll, John Ziegler, said this: 'The point here was not to show that Obama supporters were idiots -- there are plenty of idiots on both sides of the aisle -- but what information they got from the media that they were able to consume.'

I am willing to bet that if someone polled Republicans on negative (and false) Obama points, the results would be similar. Look at how effective all the ludicrous Obama email rumors were. :sad2:

Oh for goodness sakes, the same five or six people are shown on this video. Are they really supposed to represent everyone who voted for Obama?
This is a total scam. How many people did they talk to that knew the answers?
This is the same Kool Aid Republicans accuse Obama voters of drinking, just a different color.

I was responding to the comment that lumping all OS into the dumb pile was insulting and wanted to know if that person held the same standard for those that voted for Bush in 2004.

Just checking for consistency. That's all.

Well it may not mean the poll is indicative but it sure does prove that those 12 people are clearly misinformed. The question is why and how many others are like them.

Actually, the total cost for the entire Presidential race (all candidates) was over 1 BILLION.

None of those "points" in the interview were false.

The last I heard something like 10% of the general public "thought" that Obama was really a Muslim. Even being generous to your argument can calling 40% of voters "McCain supporters", that would only work out to something like 25% of "McCain supporters" at best thinking the statement as being true. But the Zogby poll didn't ask questions about the "rumors" spread about either candidate... they dealt with actual statements made. It's clear that the medias attacks and spotlighting any misstep by the McCain camp worked wonderfully while at the same time not applying much focus to similar events on the other side of the aisle. "Anti-McCain" gaffes/embarrassments had ~90% recollection rates... whereas the mention of similar events of the other side of the ballot drew mostly blank reactions.

The person that commissioned the poll has opening said that if anyone wishes to conduct a similar poll of McCain voters and finds the same levels of misinformation among respondents, he'll reimburse they costs. He said that he only spent $13K on the study and video. If somebody wants to put their money where their mouth is... then there you go. Com'on, to you really think that 60% of McCain voters thought that the GOP still ran Congress on election day?!?!?

And people need to stop claiming that the study had too small of a sample size. 512 respondents represents a margin of error of ~4%. It was a random dozen of them that were filmed.
