How my 7 year old convinced us to buy DVC

I just had to share something funny that my DD(7) brought home from school. This came home two days before we left for Disney and I was very surprised because we hadn't talked about buying DVC- no brochures or sales DVD, no tour planned... nothing! This wasn't homework, but something done at school. :artist:

She is only in the first grade so I will translate to non-first grade writing... :cutie:

If I had 100 dollars I would buy a timeshare for Disney for when my mom's timeshare expires (I own a different timeshare with II, actually no longer expires). Why do you ask? Because I have frequent flier miles left from when my dad travelled.

Ironically while we were walking down Sunset Blvd at DHS we stopped and talked with the DVC person, booked a tour, researched resales after the tour and made an offer on a AKV resale on our last day of vacation. Currently waiting on ROFR...

Love it! How cute. At 7 she really knows what she wants!

It reminds me of how my 3 year old son in pre-school replied to a Mother's Day question. Each child had to answer "I love my mommy because....", and then their answers were written on a petal of a larger paper flower. Imagine my surprise when I attended the Mother's Day tea, and was reading all of the responses. The other children had replied with answers such as my mommy plays with me, takes me to the park......by son however responded with "I love my mommy because she takes me to Disney".

Enjoy the many memories you and your family will have. Congratulations on your decision to purchase, and here's to hoping that you pass ROFR.

:) My DW is a Massage Therapist and works about 20 hours a week outside the home. Financially, she does not have to work, but she does so we can afford the "extras". Anyway, when we ask DD why Mom goes to work she says "for Mickey's". To put this into perspective, DD is 12 but has special needs so developmentally she's about 5 or 6.

Good luck with the ROFR - hope we can officially welcome you home soon. :)

Just had to tell you that I am impressed with your daughter. IMO, She writes & expresses herself very well for a first grader. I'm sure you are very proud of her!

That's too funny. My daughter came home with the same paper last year and her answer was a bounce house. However when she was four, about a year after her first ever trip, she made her own behavior chart with the reward at the end was a trip to Disney :rotfl2:

Enjoy the memories. There was a thread about DVC value, and that's the kind of value you can't put a price on.

This is precious. I kept all the weird notes my kids wrote, including the one my son (8 at the time) wrote to Mickey Mouse with a ship name suggestion when no one knew what the two newest Disney Cruise Line ships (now Dream and Fantasy) would be called.

His suggestion was the Disney Fig Newton.

For some reason, they didn't select that.

I am shocked, I tell you! :rotfl2:

well with smart parents like you - she will go very far. You would be surprised at how many purchase DVC and ever even think to research it.

good for you!!!

One day you will have to tell her the idea to buy DVC was hers....:cheer2:

Very cute! The teacher needs to give her another handful of those imaginary dollars, though, because $100 doesn't get you very far with DVC.

Great post! :thumbsup2

Make sure when you arrive for your first stay that she knows her $100 bought the resort. DD had DVC all her life, and knows we own part of the magic, and she writes about it in her First grade class all the time. ...even about how daddy is too chicken to go on Splash Mountain (It's the Drop Of Death I tell you!!!! :lmao:).
