How much we spent.

I can't imagine staying in a tiny hotel room for 23 nights.

We don't have a problem with it at all, because ....

I can:) How much time do people actually spend in the resort room.

And, just think how much use you can get our of your refillable mugspopcorn::

We stay moderate, but we really only use our room to shower and sleep in. I can't think of us ever really going back to the room just to 'be in it'

I'd love it for one reason. It comes with HOUSEKEEPING! :dance3:

Amen!! :rotfl2:

So what is keeping all of you long time vacationers from DVC????

We have LONG vacations every year....and they are paid for! We did WDW, DL AND DLP last year (along with ABD) with our points!

And...we get a discount on our annual passes!

So...what gives???/

I so nearly bought into DVC (BLT) in 2009 but at the time, when I did the math, it was going to cost more. Perhaps now, in hindsight, it may have been a good buy but for our long stays, we would have needed to buy a lot more points. I went through it so carefully, over and over but it just wasn't the smartest option for me :confused3

I wish I could go for that long. The housekeeping:lovestruc would be lovely.....
the laundry :laundy:while at a hotel, not so much:scared:
We are planning a 2 week stay in June 2014. Our longest trip so far has been 10 nights. I would love to stay for 3 or 4 weeks....maybe somedaypixiedust:

We are checking in June 1 and checking out June 9; so 8 nights, 9 days. Staying at AKV - Jambo House in a Savannah View studio. 4 people - me, DH, DD18, and DD11. We are doing Disney and Discovery Cove and Sea World. Total cost is just over $8K.

Discovery Cove/Sea World $1,103.36 (4 swim with Dolphins packages)
AKV $1,562.00 (Savannah View Studio, renting points)
Food $2,500.00 (Tips included, and misc spending money)
Disney AP $2,445.00 (4 AP's)
TIW $100.00
Gas $200.00 (We are driving from SC)
Zoe $120.00 (boarding at vet's for my doggie)

So very often I read threads wondering how much money to take, or how much the actual vacation costs. So this time, I recorded how much money we took, and subtracted how much money we brought back. It averaged out to $82.09 PP for meals, spending money and accomodation per day.

We spent $4903.07 total for 2 adults. That inclded our 2 annual passes of $1126.78, room at Pop Century for 23 nights, our meals, and a lot of shopping. We are not cheap, but we are careful with our money. If there is something we really wanted, like Hoop de Doo, or breakfast with Mary Poppins, we went ahead and did it. We had lovely steak dinners, and also quite a few quick service meals too. I thought it was interesting to break it down and see just how much we really spent, during value time in January.

Our airfare was of course paid for long before we went so it is not included.

When I become unemployed I'm going to do this! That sounds like a total oxymoron, I know. But I'm a money saver and that would be the only time I could spend that long on a vacation... though, I want to say... I've been traveling alone and 23 nights may be hard for a single person. The ideas are boiling in my head! OH YEAH! :woohoo:

Just thought I'd make you all feel a little better and post my actual costs for a June 2011 trip. We did 6 days at Beach Club and 4 day Dream cruise. Family of 4 with two teenage boys. About $12k for 10 days.

Yup, we broke the bank a bit, but time is fleeting and memories last forever. The boys were 16 and 14 that summer. Old enough to appreciate it all, check out the clubs on board, be on their own a bit...but still young enough to hang with their parents.

We did all 4 parks, plus 1 water park, a few signature restaurnts, Brown Derby F! package, La Nouba, Deluxe Family Suite on board the Dream, rented a private boat in the Bahamas just the captain and us four, for tubing and snorkeling...

Great trip. Planning one for June 2013 (but spending ~$177pp/pd)
