How much water do you drink in a day?

I drink over 24 glasses of water a day. I drink it room temperature. I can drink A LOT more when it's room temp. I used to hate water, but you get used to it after a while. (I cannot drink cold water. I don't enjoy it at all and it seems more like i'm forcing it down my throat then actually drinking it)

To get used to drinking water, don't think that you have to replace all the soda or juice right away. At a meal, drink whatever you normally would, then when the meal is over, drink a large glass of water. Before you go to bed drink a large glass of water. Drink a glass when you go to the bathroom. Keep a glass of it next to you always. You'll be more inclined to drink it when it's a few inches from you, then having to get up and go get it) After a while, you'll get used to it and actually enjoy it. EVERY SINGLE TIME I EAT, I drink a glass of water.

I think most people don't like drinking water because they think it has to replace everything they like. It doesn't. (But eventually you will want it to :D )

Interesting thread....

I read this medical article (regarding how much water you should drink) a few weeks ago that stated you should drink about one third of your body weight. Drinking 8 glasses of water per day is too general according to the article. So for example, if you weigh 115 pounds, you should be drinking about 38 oz. of water per day. That's about 4 to 5 glasses per day. (Assuming a glass of water is 8 oz.)

So if you can't handle 8 glasses of water per day, don't worry! Just drink one third of your body weight and that's healthy enough.

Forgot to mention....

For those who don't like to drink water: The article also stated that tea (hot or iced) can count for part of your water intake.

So for me, I drink about 8 oz. of iced tea per day, and "try" to drink 30 oz. of water.

Another tip:
Drink your water out of a clear glass or clear bottle. If it is opaque, then you won't see how much is in it, and how much left you have to drink. Also if you don't see how much is in it, you think you are drinking a lot more then you really are. So when you walk by the glass on the counter, it reminds you to drink some more. :D

(BTW-THIS IS MY 300TH POST!!!!! YIPEE!!!)

Not nearly enough as I should. I'm young, and I must confess that I'm not really a health nut. My elder brother OTHO . . .

I drink 64 to 120 oz a day. I'd rather have tea, hot or iced. I know water is better for me, so I get my first mug before I even get to my desk at work.

I come close to drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day. I'll probably double that at Disney next week!!::yes::

I dont drink as much as I know I should
Ive also heard that you should drink 1/2 your body wgt in water so for me that would be 60oz
I do fill up (2) 28oz bottles before I leave for work. I usually finish 1 and start on the other

No you are not weird, I drink water after drinking all thoes thing too. :D

Between 80-96 oz of plain water every day.
But of course I have to have my diet coke thrown in with my meals. ;)

Not enough and I can tell some days.

We have a water cooler in the kitchen as well. I try to always keep a tall glass of water by my side and top it off whenever I walk by the cooler. Also try to avoid caffeinated soda when we go out to eat by ordering water with lots of lemon. The soda we have at home is all decaf.

Drinking water will help flush your system. Kind of rude, but a way to tell if you're not drinking enough is by what comes out the other end. If it's always strongly colored (and sometimes strongly smelling), you're probably not drinking enough. This can lead to the urinary problems others have mentioned.

I keep a brita bottle at work, and just sip on it all the time. I probably drink 3-4 of them a day. If I haven't drank a full one by lunchtime, I swallow it down when I stop for lunch, then fill it up for lunch and try to finish that with the meal. I then drink at least another one before I go home. I drink a full glass of water with my evening meal, then usually one to two glasses while I'm reading or on the computer before bedtime.

If I'm exercising (I walk 2-3 miles), I take a full bottle with me on the walk, and drink it while I'm going. I then refill it when I get home and drink it down. You should drink at least 8 oz of water for every 20 minutes of exercise so you don't get dehydrated.

And if you wait til you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated.

Good advise Lisa. I keep bottled water at work and drink at least 1lt. of that a day. In addition we have a water filter on our kitchen faucet and I drink 4-5 12 oz. glasses of water at home.

Now that summer is fast approaching some of that water is being replaced by tea but the majority is still water.

I pretty much gave up pop almost a year ago.

I love water -- I grew up on the stuff, my mother never bought soda or juice so it was either water or milk as a kid. I hated it at the time, but now I'm glad that I'm so accustomed to it -- its so good for you

I drink a minimum of 64 oz. a day. I like water plain, but I also like these yummy flavored waters I get at Fresh Fields or Trader Joes. They are made by Glacier and they are flavored with the essence of fresh fruit, rather than that nutrasweet crap. Not cheap, but definately a treat every so often. :)

the only water i have been drinking is the water that goes into making my cups of tea.

I don't dislike water, it's just that i don't feel like drinking it.

over here it is going into winter so not a lot of water being drunk here.
