I´m from Germany and this tread is very interesting to me cause it shows that the system is competely different.
First my question: What are personell days?

Does this mean they take the sick days from your vacation time?
Okay now I tell you how it goes at Germany.
It is said by law that you have to get 24 working days (6days are a week) at least with 2 consecutive weeks!
Usually you get 30 days (means 6 weeks) of full paid vacation.
My husband works 37 hours a week instead of the 35 fixed so he gots another 9 days. And they have an agreement at his company if he takes most of his vacation in winter he gets an additional day, so its up to 40 days to spend.
When you are sick you get the complete money from you company for 6 weeks, after that you get 80% from the healt insurance (which you have to pay about 14% of ou income for every month)
So we try to get twice for two weeks to the sun (egypt and greece this year). We *work* there as dancing teachers so this vacations are nearly for free. As the flights are usually midweek its around 5 weeks to spend.
Then there are some short trips to DLRP where we need a friday or monday.
Been to WDW this year for 10 nights cause he had to spend his left vacation days before march
