How Much Vacation Time Do You Get?

I'm fresh out of negotiating vacation for a position I've been offered at a new company. It had looked like they would not budge off of two weeks to start, but in the end, they did.

How much vacation do you get, and how much of it do you spend at DVC?
 
My employer gives two weeks after 1 year of service; 3 weeks after 7 years; 4 weeks after 15 years; and 5 weeks after 25 years.
 
Forgot to add that I spend about 1.5 weeks a year at WDW DVC. When my son graduates from high school, the amount will probably increase a bit.
 
I have 3 weeks vacation after 1 year of service with my job. I also get 14 personal days and numerous stat days.

I have 3 weeks vacation time. Last year I didn't take all my time, and boss was begging me to take time off. Whatever we have at the end of the year we can carry over. I already have 3 full weeks accumulated and it's only March! I told the boss that I am a DVC member so, don't worry, I'm taking what's due to me from now on.
I have a week in WDW next month, and a week in Nov, and I'll probably take a week in the summer to stay home and chill.
Still trying to get that boss of mine (who goes to WDW every July) to become a DVC member, and tell them I sent her, but haven't been able to convince her yet.
 
I'm not sure how much hubby gets, but he currently has 320 hours and is having to burn days so as not to lose days, he can not have more then 320 hours.

I work for the school district so I only get 10 days for the school year.

We spend two weeks in Cancun every summer. This year we will be going to CA for 1 1/2 weeks after we get back from Cancun and then we will be spending 10 days at Thanksgiving traveling to SSR and back.
 
I get three weeks and hubby gets four. I always figure out a way to maximize the time into four separate 7-10 day vacations around holidays and such. Hubby only works Monday thru Thursday anyway, and I can work for comp hours sometimes. Believe me, we always find a way for at least two long Disney vacations a year with a whopping seven trips in one year as our record!
 
Fortunately, I am 'the boss'. So, for as long as I can keep operations running acceptably, I can take as much time as I like. Historically, that is roughly 2 1/2 months per year.

Yes, I do count my blessings. :)
 
My job give us 4 weeks a year for (one year to 4 years),
6 weeks a year for (5 years thru 20) and
7 weeks a year for (20+ years).

We accrue a certain amount of hours each week to use as we like, sick, vacation or we can cash out once a year but have to keep 40 hours in the account.

We can roll over time from year to year with the maximum being one year
(= 2080 hours) without losing it.

I'm at three weeks now after completing 4 years of service, and won't ratchet that up to four until I complete 9 years and start on year 10, However, I do get a 6 week sabattical every five years (Which I am eligible for in September :banana: )

As for how much is spent in WDW, I'm sure that it will be going up exponentially as soon as I turn in my contract paperwork and become an official DVC member (which should be tomorrow btw).

200 hours per year for both DH and me. But, there's no way to ever take it all because we work on "bill-able" hours and our percentage goals are so high that after 8 company holidays and training time, we'd get adverse performance reports if we took all of our personal time! At least it's there for emergency illness, etc - the company is very supportive of time when needed for family problems, etc. So, 25 days sounds great, but it's a pipe dream!
 
I have over 25 years with my company, I get 30 days which includes sick time (under 5 days) and personal time. I buy another 5 days. I plan on 14 DVC workdays this year (3 trips, 4 + 5 + 5).
 
I get 25 vacation days, which I expand into six weeks by combining with holidays. I also get 3 personal days & 13 holidays a year. We usually spend a total of 2-3 weeks a year at WDW, broken up over 3 or 4 trips.

I work for the federal government. I get 10 paid holidays. I also earn 6 hours of Annual Leave every two weeks (I have 13 yrs of service). I earn 4 hours of Sick Leave every two weeks (13 days a year). I can bank all my sick leave with no limit. I can bank my Annual Leave up to 240 hours before I start to lose it.

So, right now I have 19.5 days of vacation a year. When I hit 15 years of service, I will have 26 days of vacation each year.
 
Sitting on 5 weeks.

2 weeks - 1 year, 3 weeks - 2 years, 4 weeks - 8 years, 5 weeks - 15 years, 6 weeks - 20 years and 7 weeks -25 years.

To bad my wife get 13.5 days of vacation. Why would you give anybody a half day of vacation.

I´m from Germany and this tread is very interesting to me cause it shows that the system is competely different.

First my question: What are personell days?

Does this mean they take the sick days from your vacation time?

Okay now I tell you how it goes at Germany.

It is said by law that you have to get 24 working days (6days are a week) at least with 2 consecutive weeks!

Usually you get 30 days (means 6 weeks) of full paid vacation.
My husband works 37 hours a week instead of the 35 fixed so he gots another 9 days. And they have an agreement at his company if he takes most of his vacation in winter he gets an additional day, so its up to 40 days to spend.

When you are sick you get the complete money from you company for 6 weeks, after that you get 80% from the healt insurance (which you have to pay about 14% of ou income for every month)

So we try to get twice for two weeks to the sun (egypt and greece this year). We *work* there as dancing teachers so this vacations are nearly for free. As the flights are usually midweek its around 5 weeks to spend.

Then there are some short trips to DLRP where we need a friday or monday.
Been to WDW this year for 10 nights cause he had to spend his left vacation days before march :cool1:

I get 5 weeks per year, DW gets 4 weeks per year and we try to use around 20 days in Disney per year.


Once the kids are grown and moved out it "will" be more, that school thing really gets in the way.:rotfl2:
 
Fortunately, we own a business so vacation time is flexible. We tend to take a few days here and there, but always take at least 2 weeks off during the summer to do some traveling with the kids. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo
 
Stay at home mom, but with DS in college, most people think that I'm always on vacation now! :rotfl2:

Also, for Renate_do - For most of the USA, a standard work week is 40 hours (5 days per week - 8 hours per day). There are variations though. Usually, anything over 40 hours is considered overtime and is paid 1.5 times the hourly wage. Holidays (UK refers to them as Bank Holidays) are extra paid time off and are predefined by the company each year. DH makes the most of his 2 weeks vacation by attaching them on to holidays to get the most of his time off.
Personal time is usually that is allowed, but not paid. This allows them to have doctor appointments and such.
Some people are allowed sick time which means that they are paid for a defined number of days that they may be sick. If they exceed that number of days, they usually end up taking the time out of their personal time, vacation time, or (in the instance of extended illness) go on disability. Disability is usually paid by insurance. I hope this helps.

Officially, I get NOT ONE day of vacation. There is typically about one week between Christmas and New Year's that we shut down, but other than that I am pretty much expected to be there everyday of the year except weekends (and weekend work is regularly expected).
