How much to tip stylist for this procedure?

I am having my hair straightened in a few days. The stylist said it will be about $300 because the product is expensive, and she said the whole process will take about 2 hours. Usually when I get my hair cut, she charges $40 and I tip her $10 (so a little more than 20%). Would you also tip 20% for this procedure? A $60 tip seems a bit much for 2 hours just because the products are expensive. What do you think?

I wouldn't expect 20% of $300. She's going to take other clients while you're processing.

I'd probably give her 30-40 bucks.

I would change to a "per hour" basis. If your haircuts are about an hour and you tip $10.00 then this procedure would be $20.00 or I would rank it with what you tip for a color (that usually takes around 2 hours).
