How much to tip Mousekeeping?

I have very little experience tipping outside a restaurant. When we went on a cruise a few years ago, we tipped at the end of the week. But I never would have even THOUGHT about tipping Mousekeeping. (I'm so glad there's the DIS!) I never tip the housekeeping staff at the Days Inn so it wouldn't have occured to me to do it for Mouskeeping. (Am I supposed to tip the housekeepers at the Days Inn? I'm so confused. )

So anyway, do I tip at the end of our stay, or do I tip daily?

How much is the minimum? (I don't plan on tipping just the minimum - I want a starting point so I can tip ABOVE that, especially if we get somebody really great.)

General rule is $1.00 per person per day. Tip daily as your mousekeeping staff changes (or could change) daily (unlike a cruise where you have the same room steward all week). Some people make up Mousekeeping envelopes -- which I did during my last stay. I left the envelope on my pillow so it would be seen when the bed was made.

I agree with the $1 pp per day. I like the idea of the envelopes for tipping. I'll have to make some up before I leave in Dec.

We tip the same way wherever we go which is a $1.00 per person per day. We tip more if we have a special request, more towels, extra soap etc.

We do the envelopes before we leave home with the amount already in the envelope. I print mine up on the computer with a little thank you note on the front of the envelope. That way you don't have search for 1's everyday. It really makes leaving the room a lot easier for us.

I never thought about leaving them on your pillow , we leave ours in the bathtub on the pile of dirty towels or on the tub rim.
