We are flying in January and have booked a van with Murray Hill for 6 people (4 adults and 2 kids). Our rate is $105 return, and we are getting a 30 minute grocery stop on the way in. How much should I be tipping each way?

TIA for your help ... we always drive so this is new to me ;)

Hope this helps you out!!

We always tip our driver between 15-20%. Also depending on how many bags we have to unload we consider as well. If on the way back we have extra bags that he/she handles all themselves for us we chip in a few extra bucks. Unfortunatly we had mears a couple times and one one occassion the driver watched us drag our own bags out while he stood by and chatted with another driver. We DID NOT leave a tip. We have used Murray Hill for the past two years and they have always had outstanding drivers who go out of thier way for you. Since using Murray Hill we tip our driver $10.00 upon arriving and then $10.00 upon returning and once in a while a little extra.

I tip 20%, as long as the service is adequate.

I'd tip $20 on the way in and $15 on the way out, yes, it's more than 20%, but you'll have a lot of luggage with that many people, and a grocery stop.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I agree with what Anne said about the luggage and the grocery stop. Hopefully the driver picking us up remembers our "special" sign for the kids that we requested!

Wow ... a week from right now I'll be in the custody of our driver, enroute to our hotel! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Good feeling isn't it maryliz! We have booked ground transportation for our upcoming cruise and I cannot wait to get off that plane and only have to worry about getting to the limo! From there it is the driver who will be doing the work and DH and I can enjoy the ride as much as our kids!

I tipped $20 each way. I notice you are using Murray Hill for a van. We had an issue on our trip with them and though they have rectified the situation I think you should be aware of what happened since you are a similar size group. On our return trip they sent a vehicle that was too small. It had one less seatbelt than we needed and wasn't big enough for our luggage. Our driver told us they do this all the time. I told him that I had paid extra for a VAN and I expected a VAN. But it was too late. We couldn't wait for another vehicle. We wound up traveling very unsafely back to the airport with luggage piled under us, on top of us and all around us.

Anyhow, if you have a lot of luggage (we had one suitcase per person plus one carryon per person plus a stroller and carseat.) Make sure they are sending you a VAN since you are paying extra for it.

Thanks, Lori for the heads up. I am a safety fanatic and there is no way one of us would be travelling enroute to/from airport not in a seatbelt. I will confirm with them the day before our flight that it is definitely a VAN!
