How much to make my own Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich?

I'm the worst. If this group ever knew about my policy on using sugar packets to create a pixie dust effect during Wishes, I would be permanently ostracized!

Man Buzz. At that rate you'd be in the same category as those horrible fun suckers that wear happy birthday pins on days other than their actual birthday. How dare you. Are you trying to ruin the magic for everyone!? Other people are special too! For the love of Goofy man.....

This one time, I took more lobster claws at the Cape May buffet than I knew I was gonna eat. I'm kind of a rebel like that.

Because the bread isn't toasted! It's got to be toasted and consumed before 11am (during breakfast hours) and NOT called a sandwich.

As someone whose first CP assignment was working in the Sports food court I am having quite the chuckle at some of the outrage on this thread. The reason we had the packets of PB out was for people to put on bread and bagels they purchased, same with the jelly and no there is no policy on using more than one packet or even mixing them together in sandwich form. It's actually there for the very purpose the OP asked about. In fact, if you ask the CM's about PB&J the response you will get is "there are Smuckers Uncrustables in the grab and go case or you can purchase two slices of bread in the bakery case and make use of the PB and jelly packets in the condiment bar." It is not stealing, it is not being cheap and it's not against any Disney rules.

If they want to buy bread and make use of the packets to make a sandwich then that is perfectly OK and well within the proper Disney condiment consumption guidelines. What other reason would we have the PB and Jelly packets for if not for guests to eat on their bread?:confused3

I agree with this. If the food court sells bread slices and has pb and jelly on the condiment carts, then why shouldn't you be able to use it on the bread that you purchase there? Why else would it be there if not for use with the bagels, bread, etc.? :confused3

I have no desire to do this but am at a complete loss as to why it's a problem. If you buy a bagel you put cream cheese or peanut butter on it but if you buy toast you aren't allowed to?

I agree....not okay to bring your own food to a restaurant and use their peanut butter but if you bought your bread or bagel or whatever else there then make it how you like. Fix your food how you like it. This is silly.

I have to ask, cause I'm new to the whole internet forum thing, what others are out there? I've only found one, and I didn't care for the format. Thanks!

All things I've seen on the DIS being done!!! :rotfl2:

Those things are gross but They aren't the same as this by a long shot. What's wrong with buying bread, a bagel or whatever and then using the condiments at the restaurants you bought your bread or whatever else from to prepare it to your taste?

Is the problem that the bread is too cheap? Does a bagel cost enough? A croissant? Am I doing something wrong when I buy a bagel and take the free cream cheese to spread on it?

to be honest toast and peanut butter is one of the few breakfast choices that I will eat. This thread has also confirmed my fears about hotel coffee pots.

I popped over to the dining board to get a reprieve from the omnipresent bathroom thread on the Theme Parks board. Only to discover a 7 page thread on the horrors of people who steal peanut butter.

Oh Disboards, you do not disappoint.

On topic, however, I have purchased peanut butter for breakfast from a resort CS in the past 2 years. It was $.99. Don't freak out but I used it on a banana and not bread nor toasted bread. The banana also cost $.99. It was morning and no free peanut butter was to be found. And I didn't have any peanut butter in my suitcase.

No one from Disney batted an eye at my clear rebellious actions.

Clearly the stockholders at Disney are only interested in the bottom line and have resorted to paying Disboarders to attack anyone who starts a peanut butter extortion thread here as hiring actual Disney personnel to police breakfast (and lunch) at Disney parks themselves would be too expensive.

My suggestion is you a) pack a jar of peanut butter and (gasp!) "steal" some jelly b) buy $.99 peanut butter packet from Disney c) buy uncrustables to keep in your room.

Or if you want to be really fancy and cheap you could pack peanut butter Ritz crackers and avoid the entire situation altogether.

The work of those who defend the Faith is never done.

Church of Disney is beset on all sides by those who would tear Her down. What Walt has created, others in their desire for "fun" and "eating," would tear down. Those men and women who set their faces like flint against the scorn and violence choose that hard life. Those of us not so brave owe them our vigilance and prayers.

Yeah. Just like the people refilling their 7-11 mugs with pop has had no impact on our lives. Oh, wait a minute..........

I don't follow. I don't shop at 7-11. Is this a reference to obesity in America?

When you overuse condiments, the terrorists win.

Why do you hate America?

:lmao:

In the grand scheme of things, nothing that anyone does on their trip has a direct impact on our lives.

False. How many threads do we see on here about people running others over with strollers and ECVs? Or booking/holding multiple ADRs until they decide what they want to keep thus taking away availability from the rest of us? There's plenty of things people do on vacations that impact us and our trips. Using 13 peanut butter packets instead of 2 is not one of them. Unless I guess if they empty out the PB holder and we needed some ;)

However, when Disney changes things around to discourage people finding creative ways to save a buck, it does end up affecting others.

It's a discussion board - we're discussing a question posed on a discussion board. Novel concept :headache: I hardly think anyone on this thread is policing the condiment bar (as someone above suggested. Melodramatic much?). Frankly, I wouldn't even have thought someone would think about making a sandwich like this, or heat up hot dogs in coffee pots, or make grilled cheese with an iron, or make a salad from the toppings bar...

I obviously know it's a discussion board, but some of the reactions re-define "sweating the small stuff". I wasn't saying it shouldn't be discussed. I didn't see the post that suggested the policing of the condiment bar, but what I was referring to was some of the true melodramatic posts with people having a holier than thou attitude about peanut butter of all things! If you think people using too many PB packets is going to drive up Disney food court prices then you should read about things like profit margins and inflation - that will drive up Disney prices faster than OP taking a handful of PB.

Sorry, I should have probably been a bit clearer. It was in reference to the now chipped refillable mugs. Before chipping there were all sorts of posts like this one, saying how Disney doesn't care about the cost of the pop (they supposedly get it for free) and that is why they turn a blind eye to people putting pop into any container they see fit. Including 7-11 mugs. Posters were mocked when they pointed out it was stealing, and told Disney didn't care, so why should they?

Supposedly people stealing the pop wasn't costing Disney anything. Yet they saw fit to chip their mugs and make it so you can't put pop from their machines into anything but a current chipped mug. So if they are getting the pop for free and still feel the need to spend thousands with a whole new soda fountain set up, what lengths might they go to to stop the "stealing" of peanut butter and jelly they do have to pay for?

How is this the same thing? What you are suggesting would be like someone bringing in their own bread (7-11 mug or disney mug from previous trip) and taking peanut butter from behind the counter that disney is charging others for without paying ( soda, regardless of whether people thought disney cared, has never been offered for free).

The situation with the peanut butter here is simply buying toast and using free condiments to prepare it to your liking. It's no different then buying fries and using ketchup.

What do you think the peanut butter is for if not for bread, bagels, croissants that one may buy at the restaurant itself?

:lmao: see how things can get skewed on dis? I didnt get it at first either....then it clicked in that she was referring to the refillable mugs.
As seen here....

You make a very good point!

You're taking my post mentioning those things out of context.

I guess I shouldn't say nothing, but you're going a little farther in than I had in mind when I made the comment.

I have feeling more people drink soda/lemonade/coffee, etc. than eat PB&J, so I don't know if this is something we need to worry about? I have noticed a general decline in the offering of protein foods in the CL lounges, however, so I wouldn't be surprised if, at some point, Disney started charging for PB&J.

I'm sorry I haven't read through this entire thread. Did anyone ever answer the OP's question which was, essentially, how much does it cost to purchase two pieces of bread in a food court?
