How much to make my own Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich?

Frankly, I wouldn't even have thought someone would think about making a sandwich like this, or heat up hot dogs in coffee pots, or make grilled cheese with an iron, .

Oh, gross, do some people actually do things like this in hotel rooms? Talk about not respecting property, or being considerate at all for others coming after - how degenerate can people actually be? The few times we stay in hotels (thankfully we have our own motorhome) we *never* use their coffee pots or glasses. We bring our own disposable cups and coffee pot.

All things I've seen on the DIS being done!!! :rotfl2:

They sell the bread and have the condiments for customers to use. What's the big deal? :confused3 They wouldn't sell bread and have condiments for bread available if they didn't want to people to eat it.

I don't even eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and really don't care but it seems odd to me to fault someone for using a packet of peanut butter and/or jelly that they make available on bread that they sell.

If the peanut butter and jelly packets aren't used on bread, what are they even there for?

Sure. At least one person even wrote a cookbook. http://www.amazon.com/Coffeepot-Coo...417658378&sr=1-11&keywords=coffee+pot+cooking

Disney sells peanut butter and jelly sandwiches - Uncrustables. Why would they not frown upon guests making their own using venue-supplied condiments? Based on some other posts here, the necessary condiments don't appear to be supplied any longer.

Maybe because a person wants PB and no J or vise versa.

As someone whose first CP assignment was working in the Sports food court I am having quite the chuckle at some of the outrage on this thread. The reason we had the packets of PB out was for people to put on bread and bagels they purchased, same with the jelly and no there is no policy on using more than one packet or even mixing them together in sandwich form. It's actually there for the very purpose the OP asked about. In fact, if you ask the CM's about PB&J the response you will get is "there are Smuckers Uncrustables in the grab and go case or you can purchase two slices of bread in the bakery case and make use of the PB and jelly packets in the condiment bar." It is not stealing, it is not being cheap and it's not against any Disney rules.

If they want to buy bread and make use of the packets to make a sandwich then that is perfectly OK and well within the proper Disney condiment consumption guidelines. What other reason would we have the PB and Jelly packets for if not for guests to eat on their bread?:confused3

Sure, there's no policy. Doesn't stop anyone from sharing tgeir/our own opinions and feelings. And based on an earlier post, at least one location no longer provides the peanut butter packets. Things - policies - change.

In the grand scheme of things, nothing that anyone does on their trip has a direct impact on our lives. However, when Disney changes things around to discourage people finding creative ways to save a buck, it does end up affecting others.

It's a discussion board - we're discussing a question posed on a discussion board. Novel concept :headache: I hardly think anyone on this thread is policing the condiment bar (as someone above suggested. Melodramatic much?). Frankly, I wouldn't even have thought someone would think about making a sandwich like this, or heat up hot dogs in coffee pots, or make grilled cheese with an iron, or make a salad from the toppings bar...

Yes, about as melodramatic as serious blanket statements about other people's intentions of how and when they use peanut butter in Disney World and how much it affects your life :sad2:

And from what people write All The Time about what they "observe" people doing in Disney Food Courts on this board, I hardly see why you WOULDN'T think that they aren't tsk-tsking like a old mother hen around the peanut butter bucket.

But, since this is a discussion forum (I know...novel concept), let's just keep discussing it.

How 'bout that lady I saw once who was putting mustard on her hot pretzel :scared: What is her PROBELM???!!!!! Doesn't she know that the mustard is only out for ham and cheese sandwich buyers??!!

I have never heard about people using the coffee pots at hotels for this... but I have in college dorms.

In our dorms the only things allowed in rooms that heated were coffee pots because of the auto shutoff. No microwaves (there was one per floor though) no hot plates, etc. So people would sometimes do things like this.

However there is a difference between your own coffee pot in your dorm and the one in a hotel.

The iron is even worse... I mean what tells you that thing is clean enough for food?

There were comments about it affecting peoples lives? Must have missed them.

Sometimes you notice things. Doesn't mean anyone is looking for them. Id rather NOT notice the diaper getting changed on the QS table or someone asking for a cup of water and turning around and feeling it with soda or the dude with his daughter that jumped out of the standby line and into the FP line and making it past the FP scanners. But it happens.

And your example isn't the same thing. As silly as you think my opinion is, I think it's just as silly that someone wouldn't just buy it.

I still have close friends who work in the food courts so I just asked one if the PB packets were removed. Her answer was, "they are sometimes not available in all resorts, but have not been removed. If they are not available in the condiment bar it could be for something as simple as a allergy issues with a cast member at that food court station but are still usually available by asking a cast member." She then wanted to know why I'd ask such a random question and I explained. Her response was the same as mine, "Why else would we have peanut butter and jelly if not for the bread we sell?"

So yes, I understand that people have the right to have their own thoughts and opinions on it. But the truth is, that it's a condiment made for the bread which is sold in the food court. Making the OP out to be cheap or breaking rules is unfair because they are not either of those things. They are using the condiments for the product they purchased. It's no different than someone using multiple packets of honey mustard for their nuggets, or a ton of ketchup on their fries. They bought the bread, they can use as much PB and Jelly on it as they wish.

As Obi-Wan might say "The common sense is strong in this one."

Oh it's cheap all right. Certainly not against the rules at all...bu definitely cheap. And naturally it can be argued that being cheap isn't necessarily a bad thing.

So if I get this straight, if I buy 2 pieces of bread, toast them, then use the provided condiments on them, I am OK.

However if I then put them together, creating a sandwich effect, I am now a cheapskate trying to cheat Disney.

So the whole key is having a deconstructed PB&J, and we're cool?

Hmm I don't know now that you called it a deconstructed PB&J that makes it fancier. So now your trying to get a fancy dish for just the cost of BREAD? :upsidedow

exactly. a deconstructed PB&J is worth AT LEAST $32 at Disney. shame on you Buzz, shame on you!:rotfl2:

Hey guys,

The reason so many people make fun of the Dis is because of things like a 78 comment long thread on the ethics behind peanut butter packets. :thumbsup2

I'm the worst. If this group ever knew about my policy on using sugar packets to create a pixie dust effect during Wishes, I would be permanently ostracized!
