Hi all, I know the timing has changed if you book a cruise on board (or online) to move it. Can anyone advise how much time you now have to move it out? I'm thinking 18 months but not sure about that. Any help appreciated! Thanks! We may book one in 2016 to move to 2017 when they come out.

Thanks all!

You no longer have to book an actual cruise. If you want to cruise in 2017, just book a placeholder. You will pay $200 per room and be given a reservation number. That number can then be attached to an actual cruise when you are ready to select one. At that time, any additional deposit will be due.

So you don't have to now select a cruise? Do you also get the onboard credit and discount if you do this on the cruise?

Also, does this same apply if you are booking online?

With that said though, I know once you book, you can no longer just keep pushing out unlimited time frame. There is now a max that you have to book (or re-book) so to speak. What's that time frame??

thanks

You've always had to book (or rebook) with in a certain time period. It use to be 18 months but beginning of this year they switched it to 24 months. Of course you can continue to push your cruise back and back but if your set sail date is more than 24 months after your original booking date you loose your 10% off and on board credit.

There was a time when you did not have a deadline- you could actually push your "dummy cruise" out indefinitely. Then they changed it to 18 mos limit/deadline but it was very short-lived (possibly due to massive complaints). The current amount of time you have is 24 mos.

Correct, you don't have to select a new cruise. If you know what date/cruise you want, you should select it cause the prices don't usually get any cheaper. But if you really have no idea (often b/c the future sailing schedule hasn't actually been released yet), go ahead and just do the new placeholder option. You still get the same deal as before: 10% off the prevailing rate (this may only apply for 7-nt or longer cruises but don't quote me on that) and on-board booking credit (amount varies by length of cruise).

I don't think you can do this online- pretty sure it has to be done directly at the "future cruise sales" desk directly while still on board.

Originally, there was no time limit for taking a cruise and keeping the onboard booking benefits. You just had to keep moving to a future cruise if you weren't ready to sail yet. Then they added the must be used within 18 months policy back in November 2013. They gave people that had existing reservations until November 2015 to use them. I had some reservations made back in January 2011 that were moved several times, and them finally used this past January. Looks like it was last October with the extended the 18 months out to 24 months.

Thanks for the clarification guys. We've only been cruising Disney for a few years and each time they told us 18 months. The fiancé handled it the first few times so he probably told me wrong.

The 24 month thing only started when they brought in the placeholder cruise last year mind

Is $200.00 deposit take into account the 50% deposit that is included in the on board offer? Or would it then be $100.00?
