How Much Time Passed Before You Married...

Met in February. Got officially engaged in August. Married in November. Been married for 17 years.

It took me 37 years, countless false starts, a 2 year disasterous marriage and a LOT of heartache to understand what my Grandpa meant when he kept saying "Shuggie, when you meet the right one, you'll KNOW." I thought I knew a couple times. I didn't have a clue until I met my Muffin

Yep. I knew right away. I remember telling my best friend that I was sure we would get married and I'd only been on about a few dates with him. Of course, since our second date, we were together almost constantly when we weren't working. It just felt so comfortable and right.

I met DH in November of 1980 when we were 17. We started dating the next month and got married in June of 1986--5 1/2 years later.
I wanted my college degree before we were married. I was very driven that way. Then I wanted a house and my master's degree before I had kids, which I also did.
We will celebrate 23 years in June.

We were together almost 4 years before getting married. We've been married 8 years this year, together almost 12 years. We did things backwards though and had our daughter together after dating 1 1/2. We were very young at that time.

First marriage - met her in '79. We lived together from '79 to '84. She cheated on me and we were seperated in '85 and divorce was finalized in early '87.

I met She Who Must Be Obeyed in January of '88, proposed in July of '88 and we were married in November of '88. We recently celebrated our 20th anniversary.

First marriage - met her in '79. We lived together from '79 to '84. She cheated on me and we were seperated in '85 and divorce was finalized in early '87.

Met, dated, eloped within 6 months, 18 years next month.

Proposed: Dec. 24 (less than 5 weeks later!)
Married: August 1st

So, less than 9 months from the 1st date to marriage. I knew him as an aquaintance for a couple months prior to the 1st date though.

Oh, and it's been almost 11 years for us.

i had a job transfer to the city and met him.

few weeks later went out on a date.
before i went home that night, he proposed.

married weeks later.

still married after all these years.....


it wasn't until we took out the marriage certificate that i knew his birthday.
