How much time for Sea World?

Is it feasable to do Sea World in an afternoon? We arrive in Orlando around noon and thought about going to SW after we get settled at the hotel. Our pass allows us unlimited returns over the next 7 days so we would always pop back if there is something we missed. I am trying to open up a day to go to the ocean and I seem to have too many things I want to do in the time we have

I don't think you can do it in an afternoon - at least probably not and see all the shows due to scheduling. Most times when we have first time guests we go one day, and then see if there is more that they want to go back for and more times than not - we hit there for a few hours a second day.

Check out the Sea World website and you can find a schedule and description of the shows, and you might be able to judge from their the time needed. Most shows require arrival at least 1/2 hr early to ensure good seats!

We love Sea World, and will probably head there later this week for an evening to see the new Shamu show and possibly the fireworks which we have never stayed for!

I have a feeling I will be taking my 9 year old daughter back every day of our 7 day pass just to feed the dolphins She and I are the big ocean/dolphin/whale lovers but the rest of the family we are traveling with could probably pass on it. Since she is afraid of roller coasters, we'll probably head back to SW while they all go to Universal.

My daughter is nine as well, and she just loves Sea World.

Along with the dolphins you can feed the seals and sea lions - our personal favorite (not as crowded as the dolphins!) and you can also feed the rays - that's an experience!

You can also watch the moms and babies in the nursery.

Clyde and Seamore
Shamu (but have not seen the entire new Believe show - just a rehearsal)
Odyssea
Pet's Ahoy

The Sky Tower is pretty cool too - i's a great view from about 300 ft up and it rotates.

I would venture to say that you would miss more of Sea World than you would see. We went as a family in 2004 and managed to enjoy ourselves for five relaxing days at the park.

I would say that you could do the park in one full day but that is truly hustling. That was why we spent multiple days in '04. I have a Silver pass and love to stop by for a couple hours when I am in Orlando on business.

We will arrive on Wed. Oct. 25. We're staying 3 nights at the Caribe Royale and then checking in at WDW on the 28th. We will be there 7 days. I was so happy to get the 7 day pass so that Sarah and I can go back. The Dads and the boys just want the big rides at Universal so I think the half day will be fine for them and then Sarah, my Mom, and I can go back for a few leisurly days.

I agree with the previous posters. You definitely need a full day to really see Sea World. Sea World is my second favorite place (second to Disney of course) in the Orlando area. With all of the shows plus the areas for feeding the dolphins, stingrays, sea lions etc, you definitely can spend an entire day there. But, if you can make the time, I highly recommend it!

I am not sure if you are familiar with the area around Caribe Royale - but I LOVE the CVS right across the street for Disney "stuff" - they have great postcards, autograph books, pens, and other stuff. It started with an innocent stop for something necessary, and now...... If we are not in a hurry to get from home to the park, I will many times stop by there and see what they have. They even have T-shirts, but I have not really checked them out. Also in the strip mall is another "FL Gift Shop" with Disney and other stuff as well for very reasonable.

You will definitely have to check the SW schedule for Halloween events if you are interest since you will be here late in the month.

No I have not - we live about 35 min from Disney. I have always loved the building and waterfall that faces the highway!!!! Pink and verry Caribbean!!!!

There is also a Ponderosa, asian buffet, gas station w/7-11 (i think it's a 7-11), urgent care, a pizza type place in the center. I comment every time we pass that they need a cross walk, as there are always people crossing the highway (busy at times!!!) The LBV Outlets are about 1 mi from there - we've only been in the Character Outlet which has Disney stuff as well as more... but there are SOOOOO many stores.

Again, I hope you have a great trip - you are coming at an awesome time!!!

You'll definately want a full day to do SW .We made that mistake on our first trip and only spent half a day (because we had ressies that evening) .We missed alot of shows and attractions and wasted all that money four just a few hours! Well, needless to say we learned our lesson and have planned for an entire day this time!

The CVS I mentioned in my post to Lila95 has some great Disney/Florida souveniers, convenient to the hotel and inexpensive. I pointed this out as many folks are looking for this type of souvenier to take back home without paying Disney prices. They have many cute post cards that you won't find in the parks, etc, great pens and autograph books, T-shirts, key chains, heck they even have croc knock offs.

There is also a grocery/frozen food section with some things that visitors might want to pick up quickly for an quick/inexpensive snack/meal in their room!

There are also outlets very close to the hotel.

I think you'd do great to go for an afternoon & then have time during the week to go back w/your DD. We went in early Nov & it was HOT. After 6 hrs, we were done. We also had unlimited visits so we did an early day & left mid-day then went back another mid-afternoon & stayed til close. Then hit a 3rd time for a quick visit before the airport.

So an afternoon, you could catch some stuff and stay til close to see the evening Shamu show. Then you & your DD could go back & see the stuff your family flew by. You won't see all the shows in one visit but there's so much more to see anyway. One of our fav parks!

Yes, but you will be hitting the highlights. As you state, you have the next 7 days to cover the rest. For first timers, most would probably want to spend the whole day but this is a good way to spend the first afternoon. In fact, this is what I do as I find SeaWorld relaxing after the long drive. I liked the older dolphin show better than the new Blue Horizon although Blue Horizon is more colorful. The Shamu shows are good and as campy as it is, I like the Clyde (SeaLion) show. Der be dee pirates in dee waters.

In myopinion, you can get a great afternoon in for Sea World and do a lot that day. If you hit Shamu, the sharks, penguins, wild arctic and maybe a ride you have had a good day. You can grab dinner and watch the show over the wwater and I would say it well worth your money. If you want the most from your vacation then this is a good way to get it started.

I think that 1 day should be fine. I have always been able to see the park in 1 day without feeling rushed. I do spend the entire day there but I feel like I can get everything in including the feeding pools in 1 day. Have fun!

Mystify will still be showing while you are there. My SW calendar only goes through August 31; but I would imagine that they will run it till Labor Day weekend. That means if you get there around noon you will still have about 9 hours to do things in the park. Definitely get the days schedule and plan the shows you want to see.
