How much stuff can I hang around my neck?

Without looking like a complete idiot?

Last trip we used these GREAT badge holders for our Fast Passes and park passes and so forth. Then I added my sunglasses on a strap. Now we are probably going to be trading pins on our next trip, so there may be a pin lanyard in the mix.

So, be honest now, how much stuff can I wear around my neck without looking stupid? Any creative suggestions to eliminate "neck clutter"?

How about wearing your trading pins on a baseball cap or other type of hat, rather than a lanyard? I know Disney even sells hats with trading pins already on them (I picked up a neat safari style hat with pins on it at DAK a couple years ago). And if you want to carry a few more trading pins than what you are comfortable wearing on a hat, you can always stash the 'extras' in a small plastic baggy inside of a waist pack or back pack. :earsboy:

I don't have any suggestions, but I know exactly what you mean. I used to have a bag, a water bottle strap and those sunglass thingies. I have completely downsized to just a bag.

get a photographer's vest, you know... the ones with a million pockets on them!

I love baseball caps and I buy them all the time at Target. I don't know if it would be more of a pain to keep up with a pin-covered hat than it would be to wear a lanyard. There are so many rides that your hat will fly off I would probably end up losing the whole thing. On the other hand, if I was wearing a hat I might be able to do without the sunglasses. Decisions, decisions...

Having shared the original posters question, I have decided to go wth the hat idea. I will have my pins on my hat, a fanny pack and a water bottle strap. I am more concerned with not being too hot and sweaty.

could you combine your fastpass/ticket holder on your pin lanyard? I am a rookie, but seems doable?!

You're on vacation-- if your neck feels fine with all that stuff go for it.
No matter where else you put the clutter-- it's still clutter, wear it where you like.

The badge holder doesn't come off of the strap. :guilty:
The strap loops from one top corner of the holder to the other top corner - it doesn't clip so the holder can't be detached. And since I don't own a pin lanyard yet I am not certain that there is a clip at the end of the lanyard. I guess I can just wear the pins at night after I have put my sunglasses away! Or I can make DS wear the pin lanyard since he usually doesn't wear his sunglasses with or without a strap.

I never wear sunglasses at home unless we are at the pool, but for some reason I find them useful at places like WDW. And the badge holder is just too good to give up. It was PERFECT on our January trip. And I paid $4 each for them - have to get my money's worth! ;)

after you load the lanyard full of pins, it's not so comfortable anymore. The lanyard is kind of scratchy IMO and the pins really weigh it down. I did the pins on the hat thing a couple of times and while it was nice cause the pins don't weigh my neck and I don't lose any of the pins, it did give me a BAD case of head hat!

The typical WDW lanyard has a clip on the end of it to hold a pin trading badge or anything else for that matter. Some people here on the DIS have bought these plastic card holders that can clip on the bottom of the lanyard. People have stated that they've bought them at Walmart for about $1 each and it holds their tickets, room key, fastpasses, etc.

They kind of look like this:

These you can just clip on the end of the lanyard.

Another thing about your sunglasses. Why don't you buy one of those visor clips for sunglasses. I've seen those at the dollar store. Then you can just clip it to your lanyard and the sunglasses clip right on. Like this one:

I actually have two of those visor clips! I never thought about taking them out of the car. I'll have to play around with that and see if it will work.

DH wears a hat most of the time. Maybe I could put my pins on HIS hat! :rotfl2: That would push him completely over the edge! I don't mind having "hat hair" if I can leave my hat ON, but if I have to take it off for every ride that would get old in a hurry. And I don't want to be the one responsible for losing my hat on Space Mountain and shutting the ride down! That happened at EMH on our last trip. It took them like 45 minutes to get the hat and reset the sensors for the ride. At least nobody in my party was silly enough to try to WEAR their hat on the ride!

I am sure I will get it all figured out eventually. Maybe I will have DH put my stuff in his badge holder. We won't have separate park passes and room keys this time so it would just be his card and mine plus Fast Passes - it would easily fit in one. Hmm...

I've never bought one at Walmart. I know they have them at Officemax/Staples. I've seen them there. I'm assuming Walmart would have it in the office/stationery section.

The office supply stores have a much better selection that discount stores, IMO. I didn't care for the selection at the Staples near us, but Office Depot had lots of lovely choices. They were in the aisle with the labels.

Thank Yall very much I am heading to Office Depot today to look for some. Hopefully i can find one big enough to put my Mom in so she wont get wet on Splash Mountain :rotfl: :rotfl:
