i was wondering if anyone had any advice. I have one cleaning women who drops 3 girls off to clean my house. She then leaves. I wasn't sure what I should tip her and the girls. I pay $140 every other week and I am so happy with the service. I normally tip the girls $5. each time.

For a second I thought this post might be about how to clean a woman, and I was hoping it was going to be satire.

I've read that the general rule is 1 week's service for people whose service you use every 1-2 weeks.

I use soap and shampoo when I clean women.

Sorry! I couldn't resist :). I have no idea what to tip your housekeepers. But your thread title made me look to see what this thread was about.

I would tip at least half of one service (so $70)

I have a cleaning lady that comes about every 6 weeks and I pay $85. Wondering what to tip them for Christmas? Would rounding up and tipping $15 be enough?

I tip 4% of the total amount for the year. Locally that is the amount of money an employer is required to give someone as holiday pay, so that's why I settled on that amount. I consider the Christmas tip is in lieu of holiday pay. I also pay the tip as early in Dec. as possible, so she has the money in time for shopping.

I would give them 50 each as a tip.

I've never head of a required amount set for an emloyer to pay an employee.

I tip the cost of one weekly cleaning. My whole-house cleaning is $100, so next week I'll pay her $200.

I wouldn't tip the lady dropping off her minions. Why would she deserve a holiday bonus? I would give the three girls each at least $25 extra. I think if you normally give them only $5 each, they would really appreciate getting $20+ dollars from you.

That's what I was thinking! If you pay $140 every two weeks, that's $70 a week. So $70 split between the THREE ACTUAL WORKERS would be a decent tip, but $75 divides more easily. So I'd give $25 to each of the three workers and I'd give it to THEM instead of telling their boss to pass it on.

I pay $135 for every other week cleaning and we have a similar setup--the lady who owns the company came the first time but it's just two of her employees who come by for the cleanings. Dang--I would have never thought to tip a full week's cleaning. That gives me something to think about!

I tip what one cleaning session would be.

That sounds right to me and I think that's what we did when we had someone in every 2 (or 3) weeks. I don't think you need to tip the lady that drops the kids off and leaves.

My cleaning lady is independent, so I'll just pay her double next time she's here. In your case, I'd tip each of the ladies who cleans individually, probably about $50 apiece, simply because it's a nice round number. I wouldn't tip the owner. She makes about half of what you're paying each week anyway. (Not that she shouldn't take a big chunk of the money--she has liability insurance, cleaning products, and more to provide--but a business owner who doesn't do the "real" work isn't typically tipped.)

I think she means they come every other week, so the cost of each cleaning is $140. If definitely tip the cleaners, not the person who drops them.

This is what I've heard in the past.

I don't have a cleaning crew other than myself though...
