Anyone know how much those red umbrella strollers they sell in the parks and some of the resorts run? Our DD4 is out of a stroller at home and I'm trying to figure out it will be cheaper to just buy one of those there and use it and leave it vs buy one at home and having to check it and pay luggage fees.

Thanks

Sorry I don't know how much the strollers are but we took our DD who is also 4 a few months ago and took her umbrella stroller with us to the gate and they stowed it under the plane and brought it out to us when we landed. We didn't have to pay any extra baggage fees (we were flying USAir) and it was great to have her in a stroller in the airport.

Have a great trip!

That would be awesome but we are flying allegiant and if you sneeze to many times I think they would charge extra.

I havent looked in a few years, but last time i looked they were $40. Not sure about that airline, but ive never heard of being charged for a gate checked stroller. BUT with the way airlines charge these days, who knows.
Hopefully someone will come along with some more recent pricing for you

I believe last year they were $45.00 at the store just outside of MK. I looked at them for a 5 year old we did not bring a stroller for but didn't buy it. Both my daughters gate checked their strollers for the babies at no charge. We flew AirTran.:grouphug:

Hopefully you got a good rate at least. They are advertising $39 one way here in our area and we will probably use them next time since they just started flying into MCO about a month after our trip. I've always wondered what that $39 actually equated into when you purchased your ticket. I figured at that price they would definitley nickel and dime you. But the big name airlines are no better anymore. I guess you could call Allegiant and ask if there is a charge for gate checking strollers.

Good luck!

For us the $39 comes out to be about $65 each way with taxes and fees and no checked backs. But keep an eye on allegiant, I scored $9.99 one way flights in Feb to Orlando, DH and I went down for 4 nights, tickets came out to $110 for both of us round trip! I couldn't beleive it. But it was a 'last minute' type of deal I got them 5 days out but I do see them pop up somtimes. The best way to save with them is drive to the airport and book, you save $14 booking 'convience' fee each ticket, also remove priority boarding (I love my DH but I ain't paying $14 to be guaranteed to sit next to him and we have always sat together anyway), and the pick your seat fee.

I am pretty sure the strollers are $50 or $52. Somewhere in that range. We looked at them in December.

From Allegiant's website under FAQs -

* Can I take a stroller and car seat in at the gate? Each fare-paying passenger is allowed to take a stroller or a car seat to the boarding area. The stroller or car seat can also be checked at the time of check-in. If the stroller or car seat is taken to the gate, it will be "Gate Checked". This means that it will be put stowed in the cargo hold of the aircraft and will be available upon reaching the aircraft's final destination. The stroller or car seat can then be picked up at gate side.

Always check the airline's website for info like this before you fly.

Allegiant does not charge baggage fees for strollers or car seats.

Thanks Dash7! I've been looking online for that info most of the afternoon.

Thanks, saw that on there but thier website also states they charge for Gate Checked items. And we ran into this problem in Feb when they tried to charge us to gate check out bags when they ran out of room on the plane for luggage (we were some of the last to board).

I just bought one of the Disney strollers last week for my DS3.5. It was $50. It's a pretty decent stroller, but his head was hanging off the end when it was reclined.
