How much does a WDW trip cost you, per person?

I've been attempting to calculate how much a hypothetical trip to WDW would cost, to see if I could possibly afford a trip in the next year or two. So I was wondering what the average was for other DISers. If you do not mind posting that information, that is.

If you do answer, how many days was it?
What sort of ticket?
Were you on the dining plan?
Did you share the cost of the room with anyone?
What type of resort (value, moderate or deluxe)?
Anything else?

not sure if this will help you or not, i go Solo, stay at Pop, i get park hopper tickets to last for only the time i'm there [not for the day i leave] and book through Disney, my Total comes to around $1000, and then i add another 200-300 for food-drinks-and odds & ends, thats for a 6 day [leave on day 6] 5 night stay. this time i'm going on the buy 4 get 3 free deal and i'm getting 8 days [leave the 8th day] 7 nights for about the same amount and this time i added the insurance just to be safe. i go the end of May, Memorial Day week. i get all the good extra rates,[weekend-holiday-summer] at one time. i don't do the resturants,i do the food court at Pop and just grab something in the parks to munch on.

Hmmm, we are a family of four, we stay at a value resort and stay from Sat-Sat. It would cost us $1700 for the week at the hotel and 7 days base tickets but we got the 4for 3 deal too this year so its only $1400. I then budget $150 a day for food, snacks, and souveniers, we usually eat counter service and it costs us about $35 for a meal in the parks and $25 for a meal at the resort (we get the refillable mugs for drinks for the week). If we eat a sit down meal I budget seperately for that meal, it would'nt come out of our daily budget. My girls are 14 and 9 and we have been 3 times so they don't want or expect lots of souveniers. Honestly there are many days that I have $60 or more left to add to the next days money. We also drive down and budget $200 each way for food and gas. We always have a great time and get to do most everything we want on a minimal budget. I will add that I do usually upgrade our tickets to park hoppers when we get there if we have the extra money and last trip we upgraded to water parks and more option too and hit both waterparks and disney quest!

I think you'll find a wide variation on answers here. Everyone travels differently. Personally, I feel like we take one vacation a year, and I want to really enjoy it. So we go all out. Deluxe resort, deluxe dining plan, park hopper, water parks and more option. Last year we spend 3500 for a four night trip with 2 adults and 2 kids. This year it will be only the 2 adults, and we have the 4/3 deal. It's 8 days, same plan, for 2200. Like I said, many people can do disney for way less than we do. (We just enjoy it that way. )

It depends on your personal preferences. We chose a more deluxe route and ours was $5,200. That was 2 adults and two kids both 6 years of age. It includes airfare, 7 nights at the beach club standard room, deluxe dining plan for all, and 8 day park hopper.

Edited to add: I forgot, it also included vacation insurance/cancellation insurance.

I just booked my family of 5 (me, my husband, my 11 year old son, my 9 and 6 year old daughters.) We're staying for a week at the Polynesian, on the 4/3 deal, with the meal plan. It will be Value Season, and we got Parkhopper passes.

Before air, it came to $3907. Throw in $1100 in airfare, and it's just about $5000.

and price out a variety of option without booking them. That might be your best way of gathering the info you want.

And the 4/3 deal is a great one if you can get it all together by August 15th.

The biggest variable will be if you're travelling alone or with others, which you didn't post. By being frugal and going during the slow times, you can easily drop the cost below US$125 / day if solo, even less if 2-4 people, but you'd have to be careful and most people don't want to have to watch every cent while on vacation.

Value resort in Sept with free dining for 10 days (tax incl):

Room: 95x10=950
Parkhopper pass: 300 per person
Free Dining (variable tip not included)
1250 total or $125 per day (plus tips, plane fare, "extras", etc.)

We can only go during school vacation weeks here in Mass. Presidents' Day week is a very expensive time to fly and and stay at Disney, so you can definitely do it cheaper than we do. We never get the dining plan, so pay for all meals and do 1 or 2 signiture dining meals per trip. DH likes to sit down at a restaurant, so we do more TS than CS. Our more expensive trips have been roughly $1000/day including airfare, room, food, and everything else we pay for while there. If we stay at a moderate and get lucky with flights, that can get down to about $800/day. That's total for a family of 4, and no hopping - we only do one park per day.

We are DVC members, so for a week with park hoppers and dining plan it cost around $2000.00 we take another $500 for mad money in the parks, now thats for a family of 4, and dont include how much we spend to get to Orlando whether we fly or drive.

We are doing the 4/3 deal with the quick service plan with a few TS meals OP.We are trying to go "budget" this time and have downgraded to ASMu. With hotel,meals and airfare its costing 800$ pp for 3 adults.

We only do one family trip per year. Last year we went in Sept, stayed at the Beach Club Villas in a 1 Bdr villa,6 nights, 6 day park hoppers,Dining plan, and MNSSHP .We flew down and hired a Towncar to pick us up and drop off.There were 2 adults and 1 child the total cost for everything was $4320.00 not including souveniers.

Here's the breakdown of our costs:
Flight: $1030 (from CT)
Disney (resort, tickets, ddp): $2170
MNsshp: $170
Kid's spending money: $200
Gift baskets delivered to room: $125
Extra food outside of ddp: $150
Extra spending (souvenirs): $100-200 or so

Approximately $4000


*It could be done a lot cheaper than that though. Stay at a value, don't get tickets to mnsshp or equivalent, spend less on souvenirs, don't get gift baskets.

Last November 15-20we went, Me, DH, DS4. Our package was $1640.30. That included 5 nights at POFQ, 6 day park hoppers, no waterpark option, we also had the dining plan but that was free at the time for disney visa card holders.


This year I have the same dates booked and our package is $1584. For 5 nights at POFQ, 4 day base tix, no waterpark option and the QS dining plan. This price is with the 40% off room pin I received.

I forgot to include that we spent about $85 to rent a stroller from Orlando Stroller Rental. We did place a small order ($50??)from Garden Grocer for water, a few snacks and breakfast foods. I won't be doing that again because we didn't end up using most of the food except the water. I'll pack some stuff ing my suitcase next time.

For souveniers we spent very little, 2 hats and 2 toy cell phones phones. I had packed a bunch of disney t-shirts and dollar store items from home and that made my 4 year old happy and he never asked for a thing while we were there.

We also spent about $100 or on tips for our sit down meals.

Way too many variables but I'll try.

We usually do three trips a year - about nine days over Christmas, about a week at spring break, and then one other long weekend - either for Food and Wine, between semesters in May, or between semesters in August. There are three of us - all adults since my 13 year old is an adult. We only DDP on the Christmas trip. We cut costs by using our DVC points at times and we're AP holders (PAP holders this time around).

For spring break:
4/3 deal at POR with insurance and nine day tickets: about $2100

Food: I'll budget $100 a day for the six days we'll be on property. We arrive late on a Friday and will leave early the next Friday. That's about $600. That includes breakfast in the room, mostly QS, and two TS meals. We have the DDE/TTW for the two TS. Another $600. Note that we are cheap eaters as we don't drink soda or get a lot of dessert. No character meals anymore either. We have our favorite QS - Sunshine Seasons, Morocco, and Japan in Epcot. We also like the food courts at POP and POR. One meal is always a monorail progressive meal - hitting all three QS at the three monorail resorts.

Tickets: Our AP's will be up for renewal. We're upgrading to PAP's and we're FL residents. We'll turn in the 9 - days (after using them once to get full value) and the additional cost will be about $300 total - a little less probably. I have the exact numbers but not here.

Transportation: We drive from the Panhandle. $200 total including gas and a food stop each way in Tallahassee.

Dogs: A week of kenneling at our vet: $250.

Souvenirs and IKEA : $200 - most at IKEA which is my own little version of the happiest place on earth.

We'll get $200 back with the gift card.

Approximate total: $3600 but that includes the PAP's for a year.

Not too bad. The Christmas trip is always a DVC trip and with tickets paid for, it's a cheap one.

We have two adults, two teens and one 4 year old. Our cost breaks down to $760 a piece for a 7 night stay, or $108.57 a piece per day. That includes the QSDP and about $500.00 spending money. The whole trip runs roughly $3800.00. This is using the 4/3 plan and does not include the $200.00 gift card we will be recieving! I considered this an awesome deal when we booked it!

To echo what previous posters have said the cost can vary greatly depending up where you want to stay the number in your party, etc.

We are a family of 4 - 2 adults 2 juniors (any child 3-9 is a junior) Once they hit 10 they are charged the adult price)

We are paying $2,500 for the Caribbean Beach Resort for 7 nights (using the Buy 4, Get 3 free deal). This includes Magic Your Way Base tickets, we opted not to get Park Hopper which would have added about $200. We did get the Disney Dining Plan - 1 Counter Service, 1 Table Service, 1 snack. For $200 less we could have gotten the Quick Service Plan but in the end decided the DDP was cheaper for us as we were going to do 2 table service anyway. If we'd gone to the All Stars (where we have always stayed in the past) the package would have been about $1,900, I think.

We drive 1,300 miles each way and we take our time So we budget about $400 for gas and $400 for Hotels. We will buy some snacks for the room and try to have stuff to make on the road to cut costs and save time. We generally don't buy souveniers in the parks. We get stuff online via clearance and pick up things at WalMart and Target etc on clearance. Every day before we leave for the parks we leave something for "the bag" in the room for the kids. So add maybe another $800 for extras.

So our total before is about $4,000 or $1,000 per person as the last poster said. But if we'd gone with All Stars it would be $3,200 total or $800 per person.

But that's us. You could drive straight through and save on hotels and meals on the road. You could be going by yourself and fly. You could fly with a family of 4 and then rent a car which would add signifcantly.

There are so many variables involved that make seeing what others have spent kind of irrelevant to what you would spend-
- how many people going and their ages
-transportation there (flying vs driving)
-what time of year you go
-where you are coming from
-how long you are staying
-value vs mod vs deluxe- or staying offsite
-your eating habits ( on the run vs food from home vs fancy table service restaurants)
-how many days in the parks/park hopper vs reg tickets
-souvenirs

I'd suggest going to the disney website ( or mousesavers/allears sites) and pulling up the standard rates for the season you will be going ( value season is cheapest, peak season/holidays most expensive).

Compare the prices

Check the 'special offers' on the disney site to see if they are offering any specials for the time you are going

Figure your transportation costs (driving/flying etc)

Figure your general food costs ( menus with prices are on allears)
and whether it makes sense for your touring/eating style to get the dining plan or pay as you go

Make a chart with these various expenses plugged in and see what you come up with for your specific needs.
