How much do you typically spend on a Disney Vacation?

our 2008 trip and this years trip average about 5500.00 includes airfare, food, spending, tickets and resort for 2weeks...

2008 we did POP but did deluxe (too much eating for us) for 3 people all adults 16nights
2011 we are doing 2nights at POP and 13 nights at CSR with basic plan but 4 people instead of 3

I answered this somewhere else yesterday but thought I'd post here also:

So I have two upcoming trips and this is about what I am expecting to pay:

May2011 1adult, 1child ~ 6 nights All Stars
Hotel- $450 (was supposed to be half that as a friend was supposed to come)
Food- $200 (will be bringing breakfast foods from home) all CS except 1 TS meal in France
Park Passes-$0 Annual passes (my mom purchased as she is renting my timeshare in Aug)
Transportation- $0 my mom is driving my car to and from the airport for me and we will use ME
Airfare- $39 (had a LOT of credits through Southwest after finding cheaper airfare a week after we booked our flights for last years trip)
Scavenger Hunt- $0 (my friend who was cancelled had already paid for it)
Total= roughly $700 I will be using $350 in Disney Gift Cards so my total out of pocket cost will be around $350.

Aug2011 1 Adult, 1 toddler under 3 ~ 11 nights Boardwalk Villas 1 bedroom
Hotel- $0 using my timeshare
Food- $550 (this is being very generous)
Park Passes- $0 annual passes
Airfare- $310.80
BBB (for my DD7)- $60
Groceries- $50
Sea World passes- $70
Bus to Sea World- $4
Airport parking- $40 (shared expense between 3 adults)
Mousekeeping- $18 (shared expense between 3 adults)
Total cost- $1100 minus $545 (from sister for renting timeshare from me), minus $550 in disney gift cards (possibly more by then) = total out of pocket cost of $5.00

Both of my DD's will go down with Gift Cards from the holidays and birthdays and will spend their own money, plus a couple of small things from me.

I'm taking my mom the first week of June for 9 days/8 nights. My package with park hoppers and free dining is $1875. Airfare ran another $400. Tickets for La Nouba will be another $225. We plan to do the Backstage Safari tour, Keys to the Kingdom and Behind the Seeds which should run another $400. Tips will be around $150-$200. I don't spend much (if anything) on souvenirs - we go a lot. Figure another $100-$150 for miscellaneous. Probably will end up somewhere around $3,200-$3,500.

/
$1800 to Disney, for 4 days/3 nights, 2 adults, 1 junior, 1 child
Add another $150 for the kennel for the dog.
This includes POFQ, tickets, food (mostly QS) and gas.
Plus souvenir money

So, about $2000

We're going to BG/SW/Aquatica/DC this summer. I've planned $1800 on tickets alone--that's 4 swim w/dolphin tickets + the BG/SW/A tickets for an extra $50 from DC. It is for DD's 18th birthday/HS graduation, so I don't mind the expense. If I can find tickets for cheaper, I may add 2-3 days at Universal.
Then hotel/food will run around $1000 total, plus gas, souvenirs and kennel. But I'm planning a 5 night, 6 day trip. So, it's comparable to Disney, I think. We just wanted to do something else, since we've lived in FL since Dec 07 and have never done anything except Disney.

only if you want to figure it out. If you don't, no worries. It just doesn't help people trying to figure out how much WDW costs...

Annual PASS or Buying Non-Expire tix for multiple trips.....

total cost of all tix / number of trips = cost of tix per trip

DVC OWNER
TOTAL PAID FOR DVC / # YEARS = PER YEAR COST but wait

PER YEAR COST + ANNUAL MAINTENANCE FEE = ANNUAL DVC OWNERSHIP

ANNUAL DVC OWNERSHIP / NUMBER OF TRIPS = Cost of DVC per trip

If you bank points or sell points...that will obviously need to be figured into the equation.

These will give more accurate per trip expense.

Again, it's not ZERO unless someone paid for these things for you.

We have AP's and are DVC members so our only cost is food :thumbsup2

What about transportation?

We are DVC members also. For 2 of us:

$665 -5 night studio at BLT (DVC room cost for this visit prorated across my membership to include dues and cost to purchase)

$200 -$? -value of tickets - I have enough day passes left over to do everyday in the parks or water parks, disneyquest, golfing, etc but probably will sit by pool a couple of days.

$160 - deluxe dining plan for 1 night 2 days

$250? - out of pocket dining on the go, plus breakfast items for the room - figure actually based on dining plan cost...1 night plan equals 2 days dining for us, but we don't like to 'dine' every meal......

$400 - gas for the car ie transportation cost

$$$ - trips to the outlets and general shopping - not necessarily a trip expense unless I buy souvenirs, which is now seldom.

$100 - 2 nights coming and going at Country Inn and Suites purchased through Discover America - $50/night certificates

So, directly out of pocket, gas food and hotel on the road at about $910. Prepaid expense - room and tickets - approx $900. 7 night trip incl travel

May do expense - Universal and Harry Potter - room $300 plus, tickets and Universal food - maybe $650 for just the one night, if we are able to add a night to our trip. (We are waiting on a schedule to do this.) Without the extra trip night it will become a day trip from our disney resort and the cost will be just food and tickets and a bit of gasoline. We want to do the night as an extra add on but are not sure we can get the extra time yet. Oh - and whatever we buy in the candy store, plus a wand!!!! Must haves apparently for my Potter fan.

Hotel: $250 7 nights using my parents condo
Food: $400
Gas: $350
Souvenirs $100
Tickets: $550 through Undercover Tourist
Parking: $100

Estimated Total: $1750

This is for 2 adults and a non paying child under 3. Now that she is over 3, we'll have to budget a couple hundred more.

ETA: forgot about parking

It was more fun to believe APs and DVC were paid for by pixie dust!

Gone 2 times...family of 4 - includes flying/moderate hotel

runs about 4500.00

I'm just curious to see where we fall, average or below average?

Here's what I budget for a Disney trip for 5 of us:

Hotel: $700
Food: $700
Gas: $250
Souvenirs $150
Tickets: $1146 through Undercover Tourist

Estimated Total: $2946 for 6 day trip

Food Total $204.60
Golf/F&W Tickl $200.88
Transportation $700.09
Vac Pkg $1,419.06
Misc/Souv $198.45

Trip Total $2,723.08

Sept 2010. This was for 2 adults staying standard room at POP for 8 nights. "Free" dining. 2 rounds of Disney golf. Transportation was flying and then a rental car.

We (2 adults) just completed a 7-night Carnival cruise with 4 days of excursions. Flying, rental car to/from port, 1 night hotel. Total was $3,400.

Trip for 3 adults to Vegas in Dec 2010 for 6 nights was approx $1,843. Air $210, LT Parking $72, Rental Car $178, Blue Man $196 … Gambling and drink tips $199, $490 Hotel Suite, Food expenses $273.89

We tend to be able to do Vegas much cheaper because we'll get either comped or reduced price rooms, this trip we used frequent flyer miles, got comped meals for gambling, etc. We actually had one Vegas trip that only cost $300 for 6 nights for 2 adults!!! I do factor in the total cost which means any wins/losses.

I don't know how much your passes were each, but just so you know, my DH always gets the deluxe AP so that it will include golf. He isn't as into the parks as we are and will usually head over to the golf course every afternoon to play a round while we stay in the parks. It "makes" it a vacation for him.

It also includes parking.

We were on the "free dining" so it was room/PH park passes/dining (w/ CS&TS). Since we stay on-site there is no parking costs ... the parking listed was for the home airport.

The golf for 2 rounds of 18 holes was only $140. Then we went to a couple of the F&W demos.

Well, just something to keep in mind, particularly if you go more than one week per year.

For us, it comes out better financially. DH goes EVERY DAY!

Usually around $3,000-$3,500 for the two of us for a week staying at a deluxe or moderate hotel and eating two TS meals a day.

We're going for two weeks in December for about $4,500, but we're staying in a motorhome at Ft. Wilderness and going to Discovery Cove, Universal, Sea World, eating two TS meals a day, going to WDW parks for 8 days, and renting a car.

Okay, this is cheating right, lol...I mean dvc costs...and so do aps...
Glad you "feel" this is free cept for food.....too funny...

I'm so busted :lmao:

AP renewal is $354 each (last ones were good for 15 months) and dues are $720 a year. Of the $720 we get back around? $250 each year in a property tax credit. So it costs us a net of about $500 a year to own DVC.

The AP's are gifts to each other for Xmas ... so they don't count, right? ;)

We are planning our first trip to WDW, and trying hard to keep it under $7000. That's for our family of 4, sharing a vacation home rental with 4 others, staying for 11 days (6 @ WDW, 2 @ Universal, 1 @ Kennedy), renting a car and flying from Canada. Our flights are the biggest expense. We are looking at about $650 per person return. Hoping for a seat sale!!
