How much do you pay for Cable Internet, inspired by the AOL canceling thread.

I have Charter Communications. When I switch over to Cable I paid $19.00 and rent the modem for $4.00.

3 months ago the raised it to $39.00 with $5 for modem.

I called and tried to cancel or get a better rate, but I would have to cancel service for 30 days before I could get on again. Then I could have the rate for $24.00 guaranteed till June 2005.

I should really do it cause no one really needs the computer and internet before school starts.

For the first year, I'll pay $35.00 plus $3.00 for the modem. After a year, it'll go to $40, plus the $3.00. Not too bad I don't think considering I was paying $20 for dial-up and $20 for a 2nd phone line. I'll end up paying $3.00 more for cable, but for $3.00 it's more than worth it for what you get in return.

We pay $35.95 a month for our cable internet, we already have a modem so we don't rent one.

I pay $49.95, and it is worth every penny. I hate how slow Dial up service is.

Charter Communications 34.95 This is for service and modem. Which is only 5 more dollars than I was paying for dialup plus extra phone line.

OhMari... I suggest calling back Charter and trying again. Ask for whatever is there lowest price for service. Ask what specials are running with connection to Cable TV.. if you already use their service... I have read big changes are coming in our service in September.

I did the above in June when I was sick and tired of paying so much for cable tv.. and computer service. They gave me an upgrade in service ( which I am not sure was really an upgrade) and 3 months of all the movie channels for free.... I know it is a promotion gimick. But at least we are able to enjoy the movie channels this summer. There is no way we could afford to keep all of them come September and I told the rep just that when she offered the promotion. No worries....
If the rep can not help you ask to speak to a supervisor... maybe they can help you decrease your bill.
Good luck.

$34.95 with our own modem and we have 3 computers that can be online at the same time. And the best thing, we are WIRELESS, gotta love it.

Comcast cable internet $42.95/month plus we rent the modem, which I think is around $5 more. Before cable we had dial-up for $21.95 plus a second phone line at about $15. A difference of what was then only $2-3, before Comcast raised the rate last year.

Exactly the same here! Comcast....like Dan said, I can't imagne going back to dial-up...I'd rather watch golf on TV..it's faster!

About the same $45 a month or so for Charter (their top service). Plus I have my own modem, plus i have a wireless router.

Yes, even though I live alone, I have a total of 3 desktops and a laptop connected to my internet connection.

Nah. I'm not a computer geek.

OMG! I must be soooo cheap. I pay $15.00 for Netzero. We're happy, or so "computer naive" that we just don't know any better. :)

$40.00 a month with Road Runner (Time Warner Cablevision). A neat little extra is we get access to CNN multi-media for free. We rent the modem (included in the above price) and have a router behind it talking to our 2 computers.

Note, anyone with a cable modem should have a router even if you only have one PC. They act as a firewall that is nearly impossible for hackers to get through.

$88 combined digital cable TV and roadrunner cable modem. It's a combo pack and cheaper than paying separate cable & separate internet.

Modem came with it because it only accepts a Toshiba modem and I installed my own router so I can network the 4 PCs we have.
