We are kind and generous. We give money on a regular basis. Not tipping Mousekeeping or any other non-tipped position at Disney doesn't make us unkind or ungenerous.

it really is a personal thing, this tipping. do it or don't do it, your the only one who knows if it's done.

myself, I do like to tip, it always pays for itself. I find the room hosts are much more attuned to my needs. they will go out of their way to make up your room when you need it made up. on one stay, with my sister, we requested extra shampoos so we could take a few home. by the end of our 7 day stay we had 50 of them. towel animals? we had seven of them in our window by the time we left however a friend had one. the difference? they didn't tip.

i'm certainly not saying to tip for extras. what i'm saying is that if you do want extras you will get it right away and with a smile when you are good to them. I also love it when my dgd comes with us. she makes up tipping envelopes before we leave home and puts money in each one so she can put them out. it gets her involved in a really nice thing to do, helps her get excited for the trip. she feels she is contributing and it shows her to appreciate what other people do to help make her vacation special. I want her to grow up and not just expect someone will clean up after her, I want her to think about who does this.

again, do what feels right for your family and don't worry about what anyone else is doing.

I don't always tip MK at Disney but when I do I always get lots of extra toiletries.

I don't care that it isn't a "tipped" position, what they get paid for their job is between them and their employer. I tip mousekeeping (or any hotel housekeeping) $5 a day for our family of 5. They are doing us a personal service. Sure it is their job but that doesn't mean they aren't doing something personally for me, and I have no problem giving them a little out of my pocket to thank them.

We tip 10 a day. Mousekeeping has really made some of our trips special. Once at Port Orleans they saw we had a happy birthday bag and card, when we came back they decorated our whole room in Balloons, streamers, and banners. It was
such a lovely surprise.

Just because she accepted it doesn't mean its policy. And I don't blame you for tipping for that mess.
I don't see why one would tip at Disney if they don't at other hotels.

I'm not sure if CM housekeeping can Keep tips but regular CM’s cannot. For example, a CM goes out of the way to find you a sought-after shirt at the shops and you really want to tip them. My friend is a CM at a shop and she often has people trying to tip her, she has to tell them she can’t collect it and it will go to the manager.

I always leave a tip depending if they do good job some dont then they dont get tip.Usually $5 a day but its really a persons choice people should not be judged on their choice one way or other its up to them.

This is the problem. How do you know they are going to do a good job? If you tip day 2 for the work done on day 1 you may or may not be tipping the person who did the work day 1.

I have never tipped Mousekeeping in the past, but we did this time when we were staying in the Ft. Wilderness cabins because we left a pile of dishes in the sink every day that they loaded and ran through the dishwasher for us. They even washed the pans in the sink that I had brought from home and used, and my crockpot that I had cooked oatmeal in (big mess!). I have no idea if they get paid any more than the MK cleaning standard rooms, but that is a huge extra service they provide and one that I was so hugely appreciative of (I would have paid for it if it wasn't included!) I didn't hesitate to leave tip envelopes every day in that situation.

I work at Starbucks and that's technically a non tipping position. We have a tip jar but aren't allowed to ask for tips, the tips we do get are pooled and we aren't even supposed to write "tips" on the jar. I would say 25-50% of people tip depending on the day. I am friendly and do as good a job as I can no matter what, but I appreciate a tip in response to someone thinking I'm doing a good job and I'll go above and beyond for our regulars who mostly tip (although I tryouts do it just cause too).

I would say it's similar to MK. I've always tipped at any hotel I stay at but that's because I thought everyone did and it was expected. I was afraid they would think I'm a jerk and not do a good job if I don't haha, I didn't realize most people don't tip! I probably will continue to do it, the extra $20 I got in tips a week (we have to pool our tips with the overnight staff so we don't get a lot) was always such a nice little bonus for a minimum wage job that barely pays the bills. I would imagine it would be nice to be appreciated for literally cleaning your **** up

I tip $5.00 per person per day. I leave an envelope at the end of my stay. My daughter is a housekeeper at WDW and they are allowed to accept the tips. She cleans every room the same and leaves towel animals when possible , regardless of if the occupants tip or not. She enjoys the job but really appreciates it when someone acknowledges her hard work by leaving a tip.

So of course I tip at Disney - usually $5 a day.

Just crunching some numbers. If they received $5 per room x 15 (?) rooms x 250 days (five day work week?) they would receive $18750 a year in tips. That adds up!

Plus the added benefit of all the food left behind in the villas. I would guess it's a better job than several at WDW, especially if you have a family that you need to feed.

If the remote needs batteries, and this happens a lot to us, we do the same thing. Or if I want some extra shampoo, etc. We do this everywhere. We do not tip every day.

Not just for the tipping topic, but I would be interested in knowing how many rooms each person is expected to cover, and how this has changed in recent years. On our cruise ship last summer the room attendant said he was responsible for something like 17 or so rooms a day. He said they have cut staff and the number of rooms is higher than it once was. He seemed very stressed out.

Yes I tip. They are cleaning up after strangers. Do you want to do that? I don't. I don't even want to clean up after my family.

Mouse keeping is listed as a non-tipped position however if you do tip you will likely get some extra care like towel animals.
I have been to many Hotels where there is an envelope from the hotel left at the end of the week for a tip for house keeping.
If you go on a cruise you need to tip the person who cleans your room and they go above and beyond in hopes of getting the full tip or more.
There are also hotels like Atlantis that add a mandatory tip and resort fee at the time of booking.
Tipping housekeeping is also listed in every tipping guide as is your house cleaner.
In the end it is a choice..... at the end of the day we all want the companies we work for to appreciate our work and some get a bonus around the holidays depending on how hard they work... same here if someone works hard for you for a week a few bucks is always nice but not mandatory which is the same as a company bonus... and yes there are hotels that if a tip is given it goes to the front desk and it is distributed to all as a year end bonus.. example of this is Woodloch resorts where tips are included in the price you pay (no one is actually tipped just paid a fairer wage) but a lot tip extra because of the level of service.

Well, I guess because it takes some extra effort for the housekepper to take care of this request for us. We would leave a note when we were going out for the day. Not if there was a rush, just if we wanted something taken care of and didn't want to spend the time doing it ourselves.
