How much do ponchos cost in the parks?

I haven't been able to find any recent posts about the ponchos that are sold in the parks. I leave tomorrow, June 13th. Was originally going to order some ponchos from Amazon but never got to it. Now I'm in panic mode given the typical Florida summer forecast - significant chance of rain every day in the afternoons. We have rain jackets for everyone but we always carry backpacks into the park so the rain jackets won't help us there. DH is finally admitting that we should have ponchos, too.

I can go to the dollar store and find cheap ponchos there. But I wonder if it would just be worth spending a little more to have something that will be a little more durable. Getting to my question, how much are the ponchos these days? TIA

I forget how much we paid around 5 years ago (around $7) but just wanted to say we love our mickey ponchos. They are good quality, thick and we still use them to this day.

We just got home..I didn't really pay attention as we got a bunch from the Dollar Store...they worked great BTW...were perfect..it rained daily and they held up fine ...the rain came down hard a couple of times and we just got damp..I Carry a backpack too and they kept it dry...we just tossed them when done or leaving the parks. Worked great as we didn't have to carry around wet ponchos or worry about drying them in our room.
I believe the signs said $9 with kids less.
People were complaining all the time that they just put their new poncho on and it was ripped already! We saw several upset people..however if you take it back or to any counter that sells them Disney will replace them..people don't realize that.
Hope this helps

We bought ours 2 years ago, too- I think $7-8 was the price then. I'd plan on $10 or less now? The BIG up-side to them is they are reusable (dollar store ones are not, typically, and not great in heavy rain in my experience...), and if they rip you can return them to get them replaced.

Does Disney still allow you to trade in a ripped pancho for a new one? They used to YEARS ago. Oh how I miss the yellow mickey mouse ponchos. My family used to love saying loudly to our own family "Hey you with the yellow mickey poncho" and watch everyone turn around.

I bought ours 2-3 years ago... I think 8 adult & 6 child... Not sure though, and I've brought them every trip since. They've held up great.

Just bought some on Monday...they were exactly $10.01 including tax (adult size...not sure what the kid size costs).

Yes they do. We traded in a ripped one in December.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! I think $10 is worth it. I'd much rather have something that will last the week rather than having to throw out plastic all week with the disposable ones.

Take larger zipper bags with you to put the wet ponchos in after it stops raining. And to bring them back home with you. Once home, put them into the wash in delicate cycle and then hang up to dry. They will last for years.

Unless you have to have a rain poncho with Disney name/logo on it, don't waste your money. Wal-Mart sells them in the camping section for $.97 each. They will hold up just fine for a one week trip. Why would you throw out the Wal-Mart ones but not the Disney ones after one use? They're both plastic, they're both designed to get wet. The process would be the same for either one. When you're done with them, shake them out, fold them up and bring them back to your hotel/house/whatever. In your room, open them back up and let them air dry. On Thursday, we're leaving for a 17 day trip and are bringing 5 Wal-Mart rain ponchos. For a family of 5, that's $50 less that I won't need to spend on poncho and can spend on entertainment, and I guarantee you the Wal-Mart ones will make it the entire trip. Frankly, we're buying new ones for this trip just because we wanted to, but we still have the old ones that started last summer and have made 4 WDW trips.

I buy the small $0.97 ones also but they are single us for us. I like them because they are very small to carry, about the size of your palm. Even the dollar store ponchos are much bigger. I can easily carry 4 ponchos. The Disney ones (I now own about 10 are all in gallon bags in a closet. After the first use it is difficult to get them back down to manageable size in my backpack. The Disney ones are thicker and easier to hang dry but bulkier. The cheap ones are very, very thin (like sandwich bag thin) so while they can be repackaged they are hard to spread out and dry without tearing.

The cheap ones are usually in the camping or fishing area.

However, the best part about these single use poncho's is we use them for Kali River Rapids and Splash for AM rides when the line is much smaller. Fewer people want to ride during the AM and walk around wet all day. My cat-like older daughter does not like to get wet at all and would not ride without it.

We paid around the $10 for adults last year. I decided not to get one because I thought the rest of my family looked too silly - I must be crazy and got very wet at times! Yes, I do wish I had bought one!

I bought one in January. I think it was either $9 or $10.

FYI, Amazon has Mickey, Minnie, Star Wars, and Frozen ponchos for adults and kids in the $6-$7 range. They are the heavier, more durable plastic kind. I don't think they are on Prime, though, so plan accordingly for shipping time. I bought my 5-yr-old the Minnie one and it is legit!

I only mention throwing them away as that seems to be a big benefit people say for the cheap ones - that they are cheap enough they don't feel bad throwing them away (I.e. Disposable). The thin sandwich-bag weight bags also seem to rip more easily and also making it easier to just dispose of them. I would prefer to pay a little more for durability without getting a heavy duty camping one. That's just our preference and that's why I brought it up as part of what I am considering while making this purchase.

As PP said, I bought on Amazon the Star Wars for my DH and DS but I did get free shipping. It's from an official Disney seller... Both were about $14 with shipping. My younger son I bought from Disney on line with 25% off and free shipping when they had the Memorial Day sale. It was just under $6. My only problem is going to be why does the older get the cool Star Wars when the younger gets Mickey and castle?!? I think 3 for $20 is reasonable when the quality is so much better. We use them for sporting events, etc year round.
