How much did you spend on your dvc membership

So far have used/booked 1700 points in trips to WDW our first year - probably not going to spend all 2400 though so I will guess that the future includes renting out points to a 3rd party. We still cruise a lot with DCL and have other vacations unrelated to WDW.

I'm at $25,512, including my newly acquired 150 CFW points. I wish that included WDW food, travel expenses and park tickets.... but it doesn't. 😑
Yeah I cruise too in addition ! I love
Disney cruises, it’s the ultimate relaxation for me and my kid is entertained and it’s a break from cooking and cleaning

The hidden cost is how much you spend on the trips every year, even with DVC, in terms of park tickets/AP, flights, food etc.

Disney trips are still expensive even with the room already paid for!
I fly on airline miles (Delta) and use free days (National) for our rental car, so my business travel covers most if not all of our vacation travel. Makes total trip costs much more palatable.

Yes, but I'm going to spend on those things anyway. And I was already staying at Deluxe resorts or Swolphin, so I'm mainly after reducing my out of pocket and maybe getting some "Membership Extras", particularly (at least for now) the Sorcerer's Pass instead of Incredi-Pass. So, while the things you mention may be hidden costs of a Disney vacation, I don't really view them as hidden costs of Disney Vacation Club, unless DVC points make you more likely to go more often, etc.

Bingo

What you need is some good luck and some major oversight by a CM so you can buy the Sorcerer's Pass when you're only eligible for the Incredi-Pass.

I read somewhere pretty recently that CMs are reportedly being written up/getting in trouble/fired (?) for doing this anymore, so it seems upper mgt may have put their foot down.

Yeah, the weird thing is, I had to provide our member ID, which, I later learned, should have told the CM I wasn't eligible. If it didn't, then it's sad the CMs are getting in trouble or fired over it.

In December 2022, we closed on 220 points at PVB. Total cost was $33,481.60, which included the closing costs, recording fees, and title search.

We sold that contract this year for $37,290.00. We received $34,156.80 after commission.

We used those funds plus some to buy 150 direct at OKW for $22,411.20, 160 resale at AKV for $15,311.00, and 85 resale at BRV for $8,689.00. So, for our 395 points, we are looking at $46,411.20.
Well played sir. Well payed.
