How much did you spend on your dvc membership

Okay so now I don’t feel so alone hahaha spent over 70k this past year alone adding on contracts direct and resale
Our PVB contract allowed us to stay 15 nights at PVB, 2 nights at BRV, 2 nights at AKV, 2 nights at SSR, and 1 night at BLT for a grand total of $3,023.87. That works out to $137.45 per night.

A work colleague told me that she is ahead by not buying DVC and just paying rack rates minus any sales. Call me silly, but I'm pretty sure WDW deluxe accommodation rack rates minus any sales aren't less than what I paid.

So don't feel bad. Just think about how much you are saving on your vacations.

I’m curious, how much in US$ did you spend total on initial buy in into DVC?
Oh goodness I had to clear the cobwebs to remember. 🤣 DH and I purchased the year we got married in 2000. Resale was not really a thing at the time and we bought at the only resort available for purchase, which was Vero Beach. We bought 150 direct points through Disney for roughly $60 per point (due to a type of magical beginnings program where Disney bought back one year of points). I think our purchase price came out to $8,900. I still have and use this contract heavily. 💜

Since 2020…
(Not including financing on some contracts )…
400 Riviera direct: $66k
200 VGC1 resale : $40k
100 VGC2 resale: $22k
100 VGC3 resale: $22k
350 VDH direct: $72k
Total: 1,150 points for $222k

Were checking into a 2 bedroom for 6 nights at Grand Cal tomorrow. Yay!
ok, this makes me feel better about myself 😂

I guess total lol I’m hoping someone will show me I’m not alone…spent about 70k for all my contracts for this past year keep adding on points
Funny I just calculated the math last night and I’m on track to be at 100k 😳😳😳. But as of now 13,946 for 1st resale. Under contact for another 36k. Just offered on a 19k and have plans to buy direct at 30k. I can say if the housing market were better I would have sunk all our money into a house instead. But since it sucks we are staying in our current house.

Yep! I already have a spreadsheet going to visualize my savings. On my new 14k contract I already have $5400 worth of bookings, I included the most recent %off promos in my calculations too. Totally worth it.

200 points OKW resale in 2006 was like $76pp or something like that.

Many add ons after that and some were direct. For a total of 776 bought over time. I have the total spent at home (im not at home). But was too much. Lol. And then we sold off a bunch so I also have what was made on that to subtract from what we spent. We have 301 now. The DVC mouse has gotten a lot from us. Ugh, all the wasted closing costs hurt the most. But we did make out okay on reselling, with most of them.

How much would say if you added all the cost at the time of purchase have you spent total
Total for 10 contracts, all direct, 700 points over 4 home resorts, not including closing costs: $102,400. Glad I started with the initial contract 12 years ago then added on steadily for the next couple of years (even purchased VGF during the initial selling in 2013). RR was the most expensive contract (and we own 250 points there, split between (2) 125 point contracts).

I acquired all mine since last December.
Roughly we got:
200 BWV for 19,800
260 AKV for 26,000
200 BLT for 27,600
100 VGC for 22,500
300 RIV for 47,400

For a total of around 143K for 1060 points.
😅

Seems like a lot but we got a great mix of resorts, no "last resort" resorts, a ton of points, direct benefits from our RIV, mostly long lasting resorts (minus BWV in 2042 but the great point charts help) and an average of just $135 per point for all of them

We need @DonkeyHoTay on this thread!

I don’t have the numbers in front of me. I’m north of $130k for sure.

I’ve said this before, but for those contemplating buying in (coming from someone who bought points without much thought, thanks to this board 😂):

1. Think hard about how often and for how many days you want to vacation at Disney each year.
2. Think about what kind of room or rooms you want/ need.
3. Think about where you want to stay as far as resorts.
4. Use 1-3 to determine how many points you want to buy, within your budget constraints.
5. Live with that for a few years before deciding whether you need more points.
