How Much Did I Pay For This Self Inflicted Fun? A Wigdout trip report.

Oh wow! A 29 car pile up! That is scary!!! Stay safe!!

I understand the "trapped" feeling - happens here about once a year where its just too dangerous/cold/snowy to venture out. We just call it a day and do what Jen suggests. :godvibes:

Jackie, it sounds like it is time to pop a huge bowl of popcorn, make a homemade pizza and settle in for a night of Disney movies LOL!!!!!

::yes::

Anita, you shop like me! The tree is adorable, so are the key chains and your International mouse collection. I wish they'd give American Mickey nicer shoes. Brown sandals? Why not a pair of red Chuck Taylors?

I'm going to borrow that idea and get one from each country for my classroom. We study global communities and do a mock U.N. Each student is working on a travel guidebook for a country they chose to research and we're doing a class documentary along the lines of Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre World. If your students ever want NYC penpals, let me know.

Love your loot!! The Mickeys are adorable and what a cute idea for your class....you are always bringing a little Disney to your class :goodvibes I REALLY like the Pluto from China! Soooo adorable! Might just have to take a gander on eBay ;)
I may have chuckled a bit at Hunny eating one of your keychains.....a certain Ziggy left some teeth marks in a German MH of mine :rolleyes1 I can't get mad at him though! He is a 7 year old puppy.
Well I am leaving work now and hope to get my Macbook all settled in tonight....my old wireless router was a bit too weak so I got a new Apple router today so I am crossing my fingers that I get my geek squad on tonight and can hop online!

Tracy

Did you leave anything for anyone else to buy, Anita? :lmao:
Maybe a couple of things.....:rolleyes1

What a great haul of loot so far!!! Love the notepads -- those should brighten your day tomorrow!
The notepad and my Liberty Minnie did brighten my day!:goodvibes

Nice to get the Liberty Minnies for a great price. I have some of the country dolls. The Japan and China ones are cute. I had not seen them before.
I was beyond excited when Liberty Minnie rang up at such a bargain. She wasn't marked down or anything!
I asked if they had made a mistake! So I went back and loaded up.....
I checked in all of the countries and they didn't have anything in Japan, China or Morocco. I'd love to find a Middle Eastern dressed character now. Haven't had any luck yet!

I did not bring home much this time. I got a New Year 2010 pin and a NYE 2009 pin, a bucket of popcorn, a spatula...I can't think of anything else right off the top of my head. They had some new Toy Story stuff I thought about getting. Jill needs to take a picture of her purchases, though, because she got some good stuff.
This was just a big shopping time for me, next time probably not so much. I can't wait to see Jill's pictures!

We'll keep our fingers crossed that you might get a snow, ice, or wind chill day today so that you can stay home and admire your new toys. :) Not that I wish bad weather on you, but if you are going to have it anyway, you might as well get a day at home out of it!
It just wasn't in the cards for us today. Friday is a good day to be at school for me. Most of the afternoon is plan time. I can get my grading done and entered in the computer. Then have my desk laid out for Monday. Today I wrote out my conference notes which go home next Thursday. I can't believe conferences are Feb. 9th and 11th. Wow! Then we'll have that Friday off for a comp day and the following Monday off for Presidents day. The next month is spring break.....
Wait a minute....it's just January 8th.

Wow! What great souvenirs!! Love all of them - especially those cute little key chains. Sorry Hunny got to one of them.
Thanks! I was happy with my choices! I need to figure out what I'm going to do with the key chains! They are really cute....
That darn Hunny!
:headache:
I might have to go back to Disney for Spring Break to get another Tiger Mickey head key chain.....:rolleyes1
Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to school we go........
It was really cold this morning, but not so bad at lunch.
WOW those are some great souvies!! I saw a few things I'm going to have to get myself...I'm thinking those notebads and the calendar would be great in my classroom!!! YAY for Disney shopping! Can't wait to see more!
It won't be long until you are doing that Disney shopping, I'll bet you are getting so excited!
I am so sorry to hear that. You need to treat yourselves to something special this weekend as a consolation prize.

Don't the powers that be in your district understand the value of nationwide DIS Snow Day/PJ parties???

The powers that be have one thing on their minds. Test scores.
:sad2:
I really had hoped that our President would have been able provide some guidance to the powers that be in regards to education. It's time to write a new chapter. It's time for the pendulum to swing in the other direction. It's time to stop the madness!
Wow, do you wonder how I feel about the subject?

Those are great souvies! I particularly like the Mickey and Minnie plushes from the different countries.
I thought they were so cute!

No snow for us. Hannah was very disappointed when she woke up this morning and there was no snow. As a consolation prize she's getting lunch with Mommy today.
That's a pretty good consolation prize, but I'm sure the snow would have meant staying home AND lunch with mommy!

Those keychains are CUUUUTE! They look like the anttena(sp) toppers for cars.
They do look just like the antenna toppers!
Love your souvies, especially the dolls from the different countries. Our kids are out of school due to ice worries. I still have to work. :sad2: It's really hard to put in a 5 day week after having a day off here and there during the holidays.
It's really hard to put in a 5 day week after having 2 weeks off. Geez, it's been a long week for me!
Those are great souvenirs! I can't wait to see more. I really want one of those Disney calendars!
In just one week you will be doing your very own Disney shopping! I hope I have another box to report on before you leave. On a not so bright note....
Your ME reservation has been scheduled. You will have paperwork on your door on the 18th.

Those souvenirs are VERY fun....thank you for reminding me, I need to take pictures of mine! :goodvibes

Those Around the World figures are just darling. I love those, but my dog does as well...more than one Winnie the Pooh or Mickey doll has become a toy after Riley got to it. :upsidedow
Oh yes, please take pictures of everything! The best way to keep the dog from getting the plushies is keeping the put up and away from said dog....:rolleyes1
I'm at school today too....but boy is it cold here! I'm looking forward to it warming up next week!!!
So is it getting warmer down there next week? I'm sure you've been watching the 10 day.
Sorry you are at school today, Anita, Marc, and Jen! I am so glad we aren't because the roads are completely iced. Very scary! One of the leading stories this morning was the 29 car pile up near the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. I hope everyone stays safe today! We will be staying right here at home.
That's the best place to be when it's slick out. Our roads were perfectly safe. It was really too cold for kids to be out this morning but it wasn't my call to make and really most of them were at school. My team mates and I went out for lunch and the sun was shining, the wind wasn't really blowing and it wasn't bad at all. Don't get me wrong, you needed a coat, gloves and scarf, but it was doable. I hope you had a great day!

Should have gone with your gut!

You don't know how close I was to going with 420, then Denny decided that would be all the way at the end of one of the wings. Then I decided your room could not possibly be that far away. Seems I was wrong!

WOW I hadn't heard about that!! Yes please stay at home and off those roads! I hope all those people in those cars are okay!!!

I'm actually kind of glad we are here today, I didn't want to think about when we would have had to make up that day if we didn't LOL!
Yes, I hope it was just one of those long fender benders....
As far as I can remember, we have always had our snow days forgiven. Our trip this summer is so darn close if we had to make anything up we would be in trouble for sure!

I have decided to show all your souvenir pictures to my husband. It might make him feel better. I don't think even I bought as much as you! But I do tend to forget a few things. Like the ornament I found a week after Christmas that I bought in January 09. Just sitting in the office in it's Disney box staring at me for 11 months. I still had the tree up, so it's now in it's rightful place.
I love the international characters!! So cute.
Make sure you wait until I put up the rest of the souvies! It will make you look that much better!
I love the souvineers! I really wish we would have brought more home. Those darn weight restrictions were killing us as well! And the fact that I really couldnt justify spending $30 on a t-shirt lol. BUT next time (and oh yes, there will be a next time:yay:) we will change that and bring more home, even if we do have to pay extra to ship it!
We kind of thought it might have been less expensive to have paid for another bag than the shipping costs. I'll check that the next time!
What great boxes of loot!

I love all the international friends! Especially Pluto (since he often seems a little neglected!).

That tree is adorable.

Sorry you are all at school today, but hey, at least it's friday, and wow Jackie on that pile up. Yikes! Glad you are not!
My Chinese Pluto and Japanese Minnie and Mickey were from Ebay! They were really bargains!
I am so glad our CP wasn't out driving in that mess this morning and she is home safe!
Jackie, did Charles stay home too?

Loving your trip report so far... We had a snow day yesterday and today :banana: here in Alabama...so no school for the kids or me! I've been able to catch up on your trip report.

AND...it's inspired me to write my own trip report. It will be my first...ya'll please read it!;)
So have you started that trip report? I'll try to look it up! Lucky you on your snow days!
What do you teach? We sure seem to have a bunch of educators around here!

Wow you're a serious shopper aren't you, you would die if you saw the few things that I bought :rotfl:

I love the notepads and what a nice idea to buy the Mickey and Minnies from different countries :thumbsup2
I'm lucky! When I'm on a mission to find something, say for a bulletin board at school, Shocker gets as excited about it as I do! He's quite a shopper!:goodvibes
Then I was shopping for others as well and he's good about that too.
It's just another part of the Disney experience for us...
;)
I don't know when we will have to make it up, but I am hoping they do it like they did the last time we had a snow day, and we just had to document that we had worked eight additional hours by the end of the year.
So if you keep a log of time spent before or after school that would do it?

It is only 24 here at 1:45, and the ice is not melting on the roads. Instead, the DOT is closing more and more roads including the one outside our subdivision. I am beginning to feel a little trapped. :scared:
I hope you aren't craving something you don't have in the house.

WOW! Are you set with food until it's supposed to warm up? Ice is nasty business. I am thankful that at least when we get shut down like that there is a mini market we can walk to...last winter it was my only outing for almost 2 weeks! We'd go just to get out of the house.

Go check the freezer Jackie, I'll bet you have something in there to cook!

Jackie, it sounds like it is time to pop a huge bowl of popcorn, make a homemade pizza and settle in for a night of Disney movies LOL!!!!!
Have to agree!
Wow! That is a lot of steps! I thought for sure it was going to end up being less than 10.

Love your loot! The international stuffed animals are just adorable!

Stephanie
Hi Stephanie, It was a long walk, very long, 10 steps would have been sweet!
Those plushies are really cute, just need to decide when I'm going to put them up!

Oh wow! A 29 car pile up! That is scary!!! Stay safe!!

I understand the "trapped" feeling - happens here about once a year where its just too dangerous/cold/snowy to venture out. We just call it a day and do what Jen suggests. :godvibes:

I agree, stay in, stay warm, stay safe!

Anita, you shop like me! The tree is adorable, so are the key chains and your International mouse collection. I wish they'd give American Mickey nicer shoes. Brown sandals? Why not a pair of red Chuck Taylors?
The brown sandals are a little hippyish. lol!
The chucks would have been darling!

Borrow away, I thought it would be another cute way to bring some Disney into the classroom. You can't ever have enough Disney in the classroom now can you?
Thanks for the offer of Pen Pals, we are writing to MeMom's class in Tennessee, if they tire of us, I'll let you know!

Love your loot!! The Mickeys are adorable and what a cute idea for your class....you are always bringing a little Disney to your class :goodvibes I REALLY like the Pluto from China! Soooo adorable! Might just have to take a gander on eBay ;)

Tracy

Hey Tracy, good luck with the Macbook, I'm sure you'll do fine channeling your inner geeksquad! If I or Shocker can be of any help just ask. We will sure try!
I was a little miffed at Hunny after he nabbed the tiger Mickey head, but now I see it as another way to possibly get down there in March.
Do you think Shocker will buy that excuse?
Dear, I need to replace that $1.95 keychain....
:rotfl2:

You don't know how close I was to going with 420, then Denny decided that would be all the way at the end of one of the wings. Then I decided your room could not possibly be that far away. Seems I was wrong!

Mary Ellen, it was so far, it was a work out each time we walked it!

anita, my boys looked at your souvies pics and want one of everything :rotfl: they won't get that much but it's nice to know what to keep an eye out for in May! They are looking forward to the next round of pics

Hi Katie!
The doorbell just rang and another box was delivered. The rest was delivered. After we eat I'll get some photos taken and post some more souvies!
Hope I make it before the boys go to bed!
:goodvibes

your reports are a danger to my bank account.

first I had to find me some of those disney shopping bags....that entailed a 11 hour drive to the nearest disney store.;)

Today , my mailman brought me "fairest of all" thanks to shockers post.

It just wasn't in the cards for us today. Friday is a good day to be at school for me. Most of the afternoon is plan time. I can get my grading done and entered in the computer. Wait a minute....it's just January 8th.

Well, at least you have the next two days off, right? :thumbsup2 Enjoy your sleeping in and lounging around...unless Baylor has ball games, that is.

We're having lows of 11 and 8 the next two days, and then it is going to get a bit better.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the haul! A lot of Jill's stuff is up here, since Trent brought it back with him so we could have more room in the van. I'll try to get her to get it all out tomorrow and get some pictures before she takes it home. She got the good stuff. She had several gift certificates from her school parents and co-workers, so she had fun spending that.

If you are making rat stew, I'll hold off on that dinner invitation until another night. :)

Well I think I am all set with my Mac....I installed a new Airport Extreme wireless router and I am typing right now!! :thumbsup2 After I installed the disk for the software I couldn't figure out how to eject the disk :rotfl2: I just found it now!!
Can't wait to see the rest of your goodies!!:woohoo:
Speaking of snow I shoveled my deck when I got home at 7pm and made some tunnel/paths for Ziggy and just looked out again and my deck is covered! It wasn't even supposed to snow much today!! It has been about 6 inches so far!! Good forecasting!
Tracy

Shocker is in his chair, hopefully finishing that book! I'd like to read it this weekend!
You drove all that way when you could have gone just as far as your computer and shopped online? You silly girl!

Patrick wants to know if this means you are making rat stew for dinner?
It means "rats" Shocker isn't buying my excuse for a Spring Break trip.... we had Subway for dinner. Didn't have any rats to stew!:lmao:
Well, at least you have the next two days off, right? :thumbsup2 Enjoy your sleeping in and lounging around...unless Baylor has ball games, that is.
He has a tournament in the morning. We have an hour drive and we have to be there at 7:15. No sleeping in for me! I guess the alarm will be buzzing at 5:30. Not sure about Sunday...

We're having lows of 11 and 8 the next two days, and then it is going to get a bit better.
I hope you can just stay in and keep warm!

There wasn't much to the box that came today but I'm going to go ahead and show the rest of the souvenirs that we brought back too.

If you are making rat stew, I'll hold off on that dinner invitation until another night. :)
I stopped making rat stew when the rat farm up the road, shut down a few years back. The little critters we catch in the traps are just too tough even if I cook them up real slow in the crock pot....:rotfl2:

It sounds like you are doing just fine with that new computer! Way to go!
So how much snow are they saying now?

WOW! Are you set with food until it's supposed to warm up? Ice is nasty business. I am thankful that at least when we get shut down like that there is a mini market we can walk to...last winter it was my only outing for almost 2 weeks! We'd go just to get out of the house.

Yes, we are fine for a couple more days. Tomorrow should be much better.

Jackie, it sounds like it is time to pop a huge bowl of popcorn, make a homemade pizza and settle in for a night of Disney movies LOL!!!!!

We did watch some of Season 2 of Pushing Daisies this afternoon.

Oh wow! A 29 car pile up! That is scary!!! Stay safe!!

I understand the "trapped" feeling - happens here about once a year where its just too dangerous/cold/snowy to venture out. We just call it a day and do what Jen suggests. :godvibes:

We managed to get through it. I just hope tomorrow is better so I can go grocery shopping.

That's the best place to be when it's slick out. Our roads were perfectly safe. I hope you had a great day!

Where did you head for lunch? I was dying for take-out today -- I think it was psychologically knowing it couldn't happen.

Yes, I hope it was just one of those long fender benders....
As far as I can remember, we have always had our snow days forgiven. Our trip this summer is so darn close if we had to make anything up we would be in trouble for sure!

Last time we just kept a time sheet and anytime we came in early or stayed late, we could document it. As a teacher, you know that happens a lot so it wasn't a hassle at all to show we had done our eight hours.

My Chinese Pluto and Japanese Minnie and Mickey were from Ebay! They were really bargains!
I am so glad our CP wasn't out driving in that mess this morning and she is home safe!
Jackie, did Charles stay home too?

He did and complained about how cold it was all day long. This from the man who is always trying to convince me to move to Vermont. He talks a good game.

I hope you aren't craving something you don't have in the house.

I made a homemade chocolate cake today which helped pass the day. ;)

Go check the freezer Jackie, I'll bet you have something in there to cook!

I know we have a lot of snowballs that the kids have dragged inside. :lmao:

Looking forward to the souvie pics tonight!!!

Great collection of stuff! I saw those little key chains and thought they were too cute -- what are you going to do with them?? Also saw the calendar. I should have gotten myself one of those. Maybe in February! ;)

We had a two hour delay this am, but it certainly wasn't as cold as you are decribing! Getting into low 20s this weekend, though.
