How much bigger is Disneyland vs. Disney World?

Just got back from my first trip to Disneyland. Had heard over and over how much smaller it was than the MK in WDW, so I expected something tiny, but was pleasantly surprised to find it bigger than I had imagined. Does anyone know exactly how much smaller it is?

I know the MK in WDW is 105 acres....

I would also be interested to know the size of all the other parks as well. Thanks! :earsgirl:

Been to both and I would say that the whole of Disneyland, including California adventure, could fit in the Magic Kingdom. However, you know what they say, it's not the size of the park but the magic in it......

I took my wife in 1994. She had never been to WDW or DL, so I was really excited for her. As soon as we walked into the park, my heart sank.

It isn't that the park is bad (far from it). It was that everything felt closed in. The castle was the first thing I noticed. Compared to MK the castle seems tiny.

I guess I just didn't feel the "Magic" at DL like I always have at WDW.

Thanks guys...

Does anyone know if there is a website for WDW like the one Mommytutu posted for Disneyland?

I am interested in the facts like: the size of the workforce being 21,000 in DL
But would like to have the WDW info.

That's why I've always said if possible, go to DL first if you've never been to either... so you can enjoy the magic there... and then move onto the "big kahuna" -- WDW -- and it will also feel magical b/c it's so big and has so much more. Of course, some people prefer the "cozy" feeling of DL.

I know that you can put Disneyland in the TTC parking lot and still have tons of parking spaces around the park.

Someone here a few weeks/months ago posted two aerial photos, of MK and DL, superimposed over each other, and they seemed to be remarkably similar in size. DL uses its space more efficiently. MK has three employee parking lots and loading areas and the two large ride buildings for Small World and Haunted Mansion all within the perimeter of the train tracks. DL has a lot more attractions, including the Matterhorn, in their Fantasyland.

Hey, I found the picture!

Some of what I recalled is actually true. Judge for yourselves.

I found a Fiscal Analysis Report from 1996 for the City of Anaheim that projected Disneyland Resort to go from 131 acres (including parking lot & hotel) to 278 acres by 2005. This increase would include California Adventure, new parking lots & hotels.

The picture of MK & DL overlap is neat. If you could rotate the DL picture 1/4 turn, they would probably be very close in size.

Disneyland, the park, is 85 acres; California Adventure, the park, is 55 acres; Magic Kingdom, the park, 107. All of Disneyland, including Cal. Adv. and hotels, is about 278 acres, which would fit inside Epcot's 300 acres; Animal Kingdom has about 500 acres -- the Safari Ride covers more acres than Magic Kingdom.

Another site to try: disneyworldtrivia.com

...my favorite fun fact: Disney World, in its entirety, is more than TWICE the size of Manhattan :Pinkbounc When I tell that to people at work, they plotz :rotfl:

Another interesting fact. Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World cost more to build than it did to build Disneyland in 1955!!!
