How much are old albums worth?

I was helping my mom clean out her house today to get it ready to sell and found a stack of my albums from the 80's (Loverboy, REO Speedwagon, Billy Joel, and lots of others). I'm thinking of selling them but have no idea how much to ask for them. I checked Ebay but prices are all over the place. Anyone know?

It really depends on the band and where you are selling them. Sometimes they will not even take them for free, but other times you can get a good amount of money for them. See if a local store buys and sells albums, you can possibly get more from them.

I checked this out a couple of years ago. I was moving and wanted to get rid of a large number of albums. It really depends on what you've got and what shape they are in. Amazingly, the actual record is not worth nearly as much as the album cover. If the cover is in mint condition and it is a hard to find cover, it could be worth a lot. If the cover is beat up, it will be worth very little.

When I have seen record albums at flea markets or garage sales, they are usually about $1 a piece as not many people have record players anymore.

This is very true. I had a lot of albums that would be collectors items in mint condition, but mine were used and beat up, the used record store paid me at the most about $3 for some of them. No one really cares about the record anymore, it is the cover.
