How many yrs of not getting a card before you cut someone off your Xmas card list?

I know this is early, but I like to plan! ;)

I am so sick of sending out card year after year and never getting a card back. I thinking about trimming my list this year. Problem, some of the "worst" offenders are relatives (very rarely see as we live very far apart.) I have a Aunt/Uncle that I haven't gotten a card from in years..... (and it's not because they can't afford 37 cents for a stamp either.)

I send a card to those people whom I wish to express holiday greetings. I do not worry about whether or not they send a card in return. I realize that many people are busy and stressed at that time of the year, I hope the card from my family brings them a quick smile. :D If you consider card sending a chore (collective you, not you, you) then perhaps you shouldn't do it. I enjoy sitting down with my cards and writing out personal notes. I start in mid-September and send them out the day after Thanksgiving.

Only send them to people I want to catch up with. Don't usually send them to in town relatives and such. That is the one time per year I get to catch up with people.
If you don't want to send them, don't. even if they send you a card every year.

If I don't get a card back from someone I send a card to after 2-3 years then I stop sending them one.

If I don't receive a card from them for 2 years I cut them from my list. I have been known to cut relatives and friends from the list. I do realize that everyone is busy during the holiday season, but if I can find time to write cards so can they.
