How many use restaurant.com?? Are the certificates legit?

just another warning if you haven't read the one someone else wrote.
The OUTBACK they advertise in Orlando is not the chain. It is a very expensive steakhouse. You can go to restaraunt.com and check the menu, it might not be a bargain if you go there.
I have used the HOB with my sister. I had the $25 off $35 or more. We both had lunnch and drinks and they put the alcohol toward the meal. I think our meal with drinks came to $40, I just remember I put in $20 for the balance and tip.
If you have a car get a coupon for Cricketeer Arms. That is one of my favorites. It is over at the Mercado Shopping Center on International Drive. Cute Irish pub, great food, and lots of different types of beers and mixed drinks.
I have also tried Le Creperia. It was ok for brunch, but I didn't like my lunch meat on crepes.
Others have gone to BB Kings. I had a coupon for them but tried twice and both times they were closed for private parties. So I traded that coupon in for HOB.
Alot of people will buy a coupon for a place they don't plan on eating at using the 80% discount code and then trade that coupon in for another at the beginning of the month when they are 40% off. If you get a $25 coupon for 80% it is still worth $25 when you trade it in. The really busy restaraunts will sell out of coupons before they offer the 80%. I do have to trade in a few every once in a while so I am hoping the few who do this don't ruin it for everyone.

Okay what is "trading in" So If I buy these certificates today..I can go back in to the website and trade for something tomorrow on June 1st that is 40% off and maybe better??

Ditto to what everyone else is saying. DH and I just used a $50 certificate for Odyssey Chicago dinner cruise last night -- was about a 25% discount from regular prices for a fabulous meal, cruise and dancing. We bought it for $4.00!

I'm not sure if the code is still valid but there was an 80% off code

PLAY

so the $10 gift cards that cost $2 were 80 cents.

If the code doesn't work it is still a good deal.

I'd like to know about trading in as well. I have purchased a couple of coupons and now won't be able to use those locations.

The current code is FLAG. I'm guessing it ends today since new gift certificates will be available tomorrow.

I too would like to know about this "trading in" option. Is this something done private between 2 interested parties? If so, how do you know that the certificate hasn't been used yet?

If you go through Upromise, you'll get a 15% contribution to your account too. I bought $35 worth the other day and it cost me 2.38 after my Upromise contribution.

CERTIFICATES DO EXPIRE!!!:

some do, some dont....

I printed off a Benigans for Kissimmee last week and it says on there that is DOES NOT expire.

That's the only one I've printed for Fla (most are for around home) so I dont know if that's a new thing or specific to that location.

I've had that experience too. Or the company leaves the program. Either way, if you set up an account and have an email address with them, they email you as soon as they find out, so you can get a different place.

My area seems to have restaurants leaving the program ALL the time. :(

!

That happens to me all the time! I bought about 4 of them one month and 2 of the places refused them saying they were not participating anymoe because they couldn't get payment from restaurant.com. I am very leary about buying anything else from them.

I just bought 6 $25 certificates (for $2 each) today and everyone states right on it - does not expire or no expiration date.

I thought all the Bennigan's closed a few years ago? At least all the ones around us did. Sorry OT, I know.

Thanks I am doing that right now. :)

We just got back from Disney World and we used restaurant.com certificates for TGIFriday's and O'Charleys without any problems.

Ours are for OCharleys, BBKing, and House of Blues.

To "trade in" a gift certificate you can't use go to the website and get the customer assistance phone number. It is an 800#. Call them with the coupon and give them the number on the coupon. they will then give you another number to use to redeem it for another place. You cannot use the$25 toward a bunch of coupons with the discount code, it is only worth a $25 coupon. (hope you understood that)
There is another area of the website to go to when you redeem the number they give you. I usually have the person on the phone and they tell me what to click to get to the redemption area. I then can do a search for the restaraunt or area I want to buy the new coupon.
I had to trade in my BB king because as I said before I tried twice and both times they were closed for a private party. I was staying on property and was not going to drive off again to only find that I had to go somewhere else for dinner.
I did have another restaraunt close in Orlando once, the day we were supposed to go, but I traded that one in too. Funny thing was this restaraunt was open for over 30 years an Orlando stapel, but closed the day I had reservations. I was looking forward to it because I had heard so much about how great it was.

There are still a few....and actually per their website, a new one in Orlando is actually opening soon.

They all closed around here, and we still have a $10 gift card balance that we never got to use.

Always good luck here using them, just one thing is if there is a restaurant you buy often make sure the terms haven't changed when you go to buy new certificates. We used to buy for a restaurant near me, recently they changed it to min $45 food spend and not good on weekends. We are a family of 3 and will never hit the $45 food spend.

We are going to NH for a week in a month, was able to get $60 worth of certificates for less than $6! Made sure all of them have a low food spend or you can apply alcohol to the minimum spend amount. :thumbsup2

Question: My mom has some for a restaurant that went out of business. Can she call and exchange it for another?
