DH and I were comparing scars the other night. (We watched the Leathal Weapon where Mel and Renee are comparing theirs) I have a lot, he has 1. We weren't counting the little scars like a chickenpox one that you can hardly see, or the time he scraped his knee and you can just see a faint trace. We were talking big time owies that you can clearly see.

I have:
1 from a c-section
1 from appendix
4 from gallbladder
3 from knee surgery
1 that runs under the length of my lower lip from running up the down escalator. ( I wasn't a kid, I was 22;) )
1 on my chin from falling on the playground (again, not a kid:rolleyes: )
1 from a deep and infected burn on my arm.

That is a grand total of 12 major scars on my poor body.

DH has one on his arm from trying to break up a cat fight as a kid. It bit him to the bone and is pretty big.

I know there are some poor people out there with some interesting stories about their scars. What's yours?

I have 2, 1 is from a C-Section, the other is on my ankle, I was riding on the handle bars of a bike when I was ? I'm guessing about 9. My foot got caught in the spokes and tore up my ankle. The interesting part of this story is that it was my DF that was driving the bike.

poor Sonya! I have an extremely tiny c-section scar ( I have a great OBGYN), and a small scar on the outside of my right knee from a run in with a rusty trash can when I was a kid.

1 on my right shoulder from an abnormally large chicken pock (?)
1 on my left thumb where at age 4 my dad turned his head for 10 seconds and I got a razor blade out of a sealed "child proof" package and almost cut my thumb off
4 visible from gallbladder surgery
1 on my knee from running an obstacle course at gymnastics
1 on the top of my left big toe where I ran it over with the doctor's office door while wearing sandals (we got the fastest service ever that time!)

I have two major scars.....one when I had neck surgery and the other on my hip where they took part of the bone for my neck fusion.

My middle finger of my left hand. I was opening a can of Tomato sauce for my mom and the op really cut me, hence 12 stiches later I have a horrible scar. PS, I wan't a kid either, I was 20:D

Oh My....where to start??

1. A couple small ones on my face and neck from having some moles removed.
2. A 1 1/2 inch one from having a tumor removed from the top of my thigh.
3. 2 from 2 separate c-sections although they cut the first one with the birth of my second child.
4. 1 from a laparoscopy I had done through my abdomin.
5. 1 from a resection of my naval due to repeated infection.
6. 1 from a breast cyst.
7. 1 from a cyst on my arm removed. This is the most ugly cyst I have and it was made by a plastic surgeon....go figure.

I also have one on the bottom of one of my little toes from stepping on an old pop top when they use to be removed from the can. Almost sliced the entire bottom of my toe off.

Another from a cat fish bite many years ago. Maybe it left a scar because I ended up having an allergic reaction and blood poisoning from the entire event. My arm swelled up 3 times the normal size.

Another on my knee from when I was a kid and dove off a pile of dirt right into a piece of metal sticking out.

Never failed, every summer, we'd end up in the ER because I did something. My mom use to say they knew us by name....hmm, maybe that explains why my DS3 is so rambuncious?

One eight-inch one that goes from hip bone to hip bone...from when I had spinal fusion surgery; they used an anterior approach which meant they went through my abdomen to get to my spine. It's a thin scar but LONG.

I have a few assorted small scars from having moles removed.

Ouch you all! Michell, that sounds like a hard thing to recover from!
I forgot, I have 2 on my fingers from getting 2 warts removed. Never go to a surgen who's hands shake!
So I guess my total is now 14.

4 from gallbladder, 4 from appendix, but one of each overlap so that's 7 right there. One on my right index finger by the base of the nail where I cut myself cutting pork chops, one on my right middle finger midway between the tip and the base of the nail from cutting open peach pits- college internship. One on the top of my left knee from a car accident where the dashboard cracked and sliced it open. And a bunch of old burn scars on the backs of my hands- they fade gradually and dissappear altogether after about 5-7 years. No, I'm not a chef, just clumsy in the kitchen!

I have 1 major scar on my ankle from when I was 2 and broke my leg. The cast (one of those full leg attached to other leg) was very pointy on the end and dug a huge hole in my flesh. I have a fresh scar on my finger too where I sliced it and it took forever too heal because the scab kept getting rubbed off and dirt got in. I also have innumerable smaller scars, many I don't know what they're from.

Tons of little ones from various clutzy situations, but the major ones are:

1 on my knee from when I tripped on a seatbelt while getting out of the back of a car. One of my most graceful moments, I landed right on a curb.

1 on my inner ankle from when I got too close to a low wire fence on an ATV

A few on my back from having moles removed.

One on my forehead and one on my temple from having my head held still during surgery.

And the granddaddy of them all, a huge U-shaped one on the entire left side of my head from that same surgery, which was to repair the damage from a ruptured AVM (similar to a ruptured aneurysm). Fortunately, my hair hides that one, although you can see a little bit of it coming down in front of my ear if you look carefully. You can definitely feel the dents though.

Wow....how are we all staying together?;)

1. Hernia repair when I was little, lower right abdomen.
2. large u shaped scar on the inside of my thumb from when I was cutting the top off of a pumpkin (that was really weird because I just had a flap of skin and flesh hanging there:eek: )
3. C-section, bikini cut
4. 2 little, one medium from a laparoscopic gall bladder removal
5. 2 little, one medium just to the side of my belly button when I donated my kidney to my brother (also laparoscopically)

DH has 2...one from when he was sitting on the back of a pickup truck and a car reversed into it and crushed part of his calf. We tell everyone it was a shark bite...it looks like there's a small chunk of muscle missing. AND he just had his vasectomy today, so now he's got those little tiny things. Poor guy....

Okay here it goes
1 left foot- stepped on by a horse
2 left ankle from arthroscope
1 left knee - bicycle crash as a child( mom did not believe in stitches  )
1 left rear "cheek" -slid down a hill over a broken bottle
3 right leg from a bacterial infection
1 left ring finger- surgery to repair finger being ripped by wedding ring caught on ambulance cot
1 left shoulder - chain saw as a teenager
2 right hand and wrist carpalr tunnel
1 right elbow- ulnar nerve transposition
1 right shoulder - shoulder reconstruction
1 middle of top of forehead- brother threw rock at me:confused:

and those are just the bigger ones

There are also the
countless scars on my heart from the girls of my youth;)

I have about 7 on my face from when I had the chicken pox at 13.

I have a couple of little white scars on my top lip. My mom dropped a mop on my face when I was about 2 or 3.

One on my left foot after tripping a skidding the top of my foot on the concrete.

One on my left arm from when I had cat scratch fever when I was 5. The infection went from my pinky finger and stopped at my elbow where it grew until it popped leaving a weird bumpy dent in my arm.

I know I have more that I can't think of at the moment.

I suspect I'll have a new one from my graceful fall in the shower at the gym today.

The ones I know are here to stay:

One well hidden under my hair from walking in front of the swings while my brother was on it, when I was about 2.

One knee looks like a topographical map with concentric shapes from a long skid on a hard blacktop when I was about 7.

Three dog bite marks from three separate dogs, and yes, I still pet strange dogs. Thrice bitten, still not shy. :teeth:

Scar from being bit by a donkey when I was 10. I was feeding the little guy a cookie, and he just kept on chewing. Maybe I reallyshould rethink being so much of an animal lover. :D

"Bikini line" scar from laparotomy.

Big wonking verticle scar from my sternum to my bellybutton from gastric surgery. And two little cute dots to either side that I never did catch on to what they were for.

But I'm still a work of art - just a little abstract.

I received my first scar this past June on my finger - 5 stitches from the hedgetrimmer. (I am 37!)

No C-Section, but do stretch marks count? Have a few of those.

I consider myself extremely lucky compared to some of you!

1 on my finger from getting a wart removed
2 very faint road rash burns on both of my elbows from falling and skidding when I was rollerblading
1 on my forehead from chicken pox
2 identical ones on my knees (about the size of a dime), one from the rollarblading accident, one is from hitting a screw on an old swing set
4 on my legs from itching mosquito bits beyond belief lol
2 on both of my calfs from shaving (ehh I was a beginner)
SO looks like a total of 12, I probably have more, but I just don't see them right now.

One on my right shoulder. When I was 2 years old, I pulled a cup of hot tea off of a table and scalded myself. The only plus side of this scar-inducing incident, was that I stopped sucking my thumb, as I was so bandaged up (as per my mom). The scar is still there, and very sensitive to the sun.

My second (and third) scars are on the top of my right wrist. I have had ganglion cysts removed twice. One about 10 years ago, and once this past spring.

I almost forgot about another (embarrassing) scar. I sat on a pencil when I was approxiametly 10 years old, and still have a scar on my left butt cheek.

I have a few.

1 c-section
2 scar on the side of my right leg from an infection(dime size)
3 bottom of my foot from stepping on glass when I was about 9
(6stiches)
4 right pointer finger on the side of the knuckle. cut it when
cutting a ham on Easter a few yrs ago(6stiches).
5 top of left pointer finger. Cut it on glass when I was a kid.
6 2scars from laprascopic surgery.
7 right pinky from cutting it on glass while washing the dishes
about 10yrs ago.(8 stiches)
8 scar on my chin from being hit with a bat when I was about 5
(4stiches)
9 scar on the front of my right shin from falling on the beam in
gymnastics when I was about 10.
10 2inch scar on my back from surgery last year to remove a
lipoma.
All in all, I guess I've been pretty lucky! Nothing too serious.
