How Many Rides on Pirates of the Caribbean are Enough? Now Completed 11/4/10

POR looks so beautiful...so happy that you got the room assignment you were hoping for:cool1:

I completely understand the weepiness at MK rope drop...when they sing that song....I'm done....puddle of tears

I know! Building 14 is the Holy Grail of all requests.

And I don't understand why I get like that for rope drop, but I do.

Yippeee on the getting the room you wanted!

Your pictures are beautiful!

I understanding getting weepy at rope drop! I get weepy all the time at WDW! DH thinks I'm crazy! :confused3

Thanks!
I love the MK opening ceremony:love: I always choke up during the countdown... My son thinks it's hilarious!

I think a lot of us do.

Were you kidding about make your own pasta at McDonalds? Never heard of such a thing.

Loving the pics.

I wish I was kidding. They had tacos, nachos, paninis. I've heard of this McDonalds, but I would never have believed it had I not seen it.

Great pictures!:thumbsup2 Great update:thumbsup2

Thanks, Hallie!

Ah, rope drop. To my mind, it is only myth. I've never seen one. :lmao: I love to live it vicariously through those who actually get out that early, but it's never happened in my family.

Count me among those who has never heard of the make your own pasta salad at McDonald's. Wow.

And POR looks so peaceful, so tranquil. What a lovely place to stay. :goodvibes

You have to do rope drop at MK if only once by yourself. But I can see not wanting to get up early in the morning on vacation. We are always so excited, that even if we plan to sleep in, we don't.

You will have to stay at POR with the kids someday.

The answer to the question in your title is: INFINITY! You can never ride POTC too many times. Because, like the Haunted Mansion, you will notice something new every single time. Or at least... my family does.

I'm loving your TR! You have adorable kids. I just updated my TR about our first experience at rope drop and I got weepy just WRITING it and posting the pictures, so you KNOW I was a mess when it was actually happening. It just gets me. Magic :wizard:

Can't wait for more!

oh, and P.S. How come Alligator Bayou is so sought after? We usually have great luck when requesting room locations, but we've never stayed at PO-R. It is beautiful though so I figure I should educate myself now to save time later if we decide to stay! Thanks:thumbsup2

We notice soemthing new on POTC every time. Thanks for the compliments about my kids--they are great kids. Rope drop at MK is one of my favorite times.

Alligator Bayou is the only moderate area for a family of five. It's really the least expensive option for a family of our size--Disney really ignores those odd family sizes for the most part. So Alligator Bayou is a very large area--building 14 is the closest to the main building, so we try to request it.

Great TR so far. I am also a teacher, but I don't get out of school until the 28th (of June). I 'm heading to the world about 2 weeks after school. I can't wait:banana:

We headed out the day of, lol. I can't imagine getting out so late, but I'm sure you go back after Labor day? I think if that was us, we'd probably wait and do free dining. Then again, I would be wishing for summer vacation to be over for Disney (as my tag suggests). Thanks for joining in.

I always love driving under the sign! Yay, for getting exactly what you requested!!! I can't believe you guys were able to check in and still have plenty of time to kill before RD! You must of been up EARLY.

We were up early--I think we checked in at around 7:10am. The sign is my way of knowing I'm there. Once I drive under the sign, I don't want to leave!

You'd think after so many trips to Disney World, I would stop crying when I get to rope drop. Really. You would.

I promise you, I don't. And now that I have the 4 Parks 1 World CD and the music from the Welcome Show is on it, if I pair at music with the pictures, I might tear up at any moment in time.

Anywho, we're standing there, waiting for the welcome show, and the music starts.

Before we know it, we're being welcomesd in song onto Main Street by dancers

and the Mouse himself

Chip and Dale are coming. . .

20100529032.jpg

the family of the day welcomes us in,

20100529042.jpg

confetti is thrown, and we are on the race to Dumbo!

I'm behind my husband and children

20100529046.jpg

And when we got home, I saw this picture of Boo with a cast member on Main Street--you can tell they've made eye contact and are loving it!

20100529047.jpg

So, we're on Main Street, heading to Dumbo. The sun is out--it's a lovely morning, and we're in my favorite place. I wipe my tears away--why is it again that I'm crying?

Loving the trip report and pictures!!
I understand the trying to leave problems.
I looked at the new schedule and low and behold I have the Sunday and Tuesday off before we go to Disney and work from 6:45 am -5pm the day before. I am a nurse and on our unit we do some strange things with shifts. on 7/15 I plan to leave the house by 7am to go to the airport in Greensboro. The plan leaves at 9:00 a.m. We arrive at Sanford at 10:50 a.m. Low and behold on the schedule I have a great long break beginning the 16th. I am scheduled to work an M with is 11a-11p.m. and the last acceptable time to clock in is 10:50 am on 7/15. What is wrong with this picture? This is susposed to be fixed tomorrow...I guess I'll see when I go back Tuesday.

Maybe tomorrow I'll see more trip report. By the way I loved the Disney box idea so I am getting ready to start mine!!

I absolutely love when the train pulls in and the characters and the family they've chosen to open the park get off! There is something so magical about it, I always shed a tear or two:confused3

I love the shot of your little one and the cast member making eye contact...

I had to catch up!! I had some time before we head out for dinner so I thought I would check in with you!

~Silly, Silly school!!! Did you ever get the report card or at least find out the grades??

~I have also ended up on the wrong side of Orlando! We were trying to go to some cowboy bar south of the city and missed the exit and chose the wrong exit to make a U-Turn lol. I'm glad you found your way!

~My one friend has been to the McDs with the pasta! There is one near Universal I think off of 4 and she was at that one. It's called McD's Bistro or something? She said it was really good!

~I'm glad you got the building you wanted!!! I can't wait for those room pics :) and I can't remember the last time my fam has been to MK for rope drop. When we go, we typically plan it around MK EMH or a holiday party when it's open late!

Great start - I'm looking forward to the rest. And thank goodness the luck changed after you finally got there and the room assignment was awesome! I'll take a delay getting off for a requested room!!

Pancakes every morning? And mouse pancakes before the trip? You had better hang on to that guy before someone steals him!!

Your family is precious - anxious to see more of them!

Congrats for getting the room you wanted...what an awesome start to your vacation!

You have a beautiful family and I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip

I'll definitely make rope drop some day! My guess is that it'll actually be on our next trip, since we'll have a little one with us who will most likely wake us up quite early! :lmao:

What a wonderful start to your morning. I can't wait to see where the day goes. :thumbsup2

Woo hoo! You've officially made it to Walt Disney World and your resort. Doesn't it give you the warm and fuzzies knowing that the Disney Gods have shown down on you and blessed you with the room assignment you've requested?

The only better feeling is....................

watching the opening ceremony at the Magic Kingdom! Don't worry about crying every time. I cry every time I walk into the Magic Kingdom and see the castle. I cry every time I see Wishes too.

Sounds like ya'll are off to a fantastic start!

......sheesh! I feel like I'm following mickeystoontown around today..... I'm really not DIS stalking you, Lisa, I promise!

And now I will say what I came here to say:

I'm here! I can't believe you got there, checked in, and made it to the MK before rope drop! You are incredible!

I know what you mean about the crying, I tear up during Wishes every time...and I love Wishes and will stop to watch it whenever its going!

Great start, can't wait to read more!

I do the same thing, tear up at rope drop.......of course, I could tear up just thinking about it! :lmao:

Awwwww, Welcome Show We've been over this but yeah I am ready to tear up just reading your update!! Great job.

We usually start off Disney trips with Mickey shaped pancakes, too. :goodvibes

Bummer about the report card gremlins delaying your long awaited Disney departure. :headache:

:cheer2: Yippee for getting the exact room request you wanted! Your resort looks so lovely.

I am also a cryer at Disney. I cry when I see the castle, when I hear any Disney themed music in the parks, seeing my child's happy, excited smiles anywhere in Disney, the fireworks, the smells, etc. etc. Oh, yes, I am a crier. :sad2:

I'm along for the TR - you've gotten off to a great start!

Thanks for the update. Love the pictures of POR and I will have to make it to rope drop some time! :goodvibes

Okay, so I had answered all of these, and the Disboards wigged out on me. So, here I go again!

I hope your work hours got fixed. It's annoying being scheduled like that--I like having a set calendar a year in advance, that's for sure.

Starting a Disney box really helps keep everything together!

I absolutely love when the train pulls in and the characters and the family they've chosen to open the park get off! There is something so magical about it, I always shed a tear or two:confused3

Thanks--I love that picture, as well. And I am so glad to know I'm not the only one who cries at rope drop.

I am so glad you got to catch up on your trip. As far as the grades go, the report cards did come out the next week. Also, I never want to be lost like that in Orlando again. DH was like, "You go in and ask for directions to Turkey Lake Rd." I was like, "I'll stay here in the locked car, thankyouverymuch."

That McDonals must be huge inside, but we only went through the drive through. And getting the building and floor we wanted was awesome!

:welcome: That room assignment was great--I think I'll ask for it every time, lol. And yes--pancakes.

You will get to rope drop with a baby, that's for sure, lol.

It's not stalking. It's two people knowing good trip reports when we see 'em.:thumbsup2

Why, thanks.

Awwwww, Welcome Show We've been over this but yeah I am ready to tear up just reading your update!! Great job.

We have talked about it, haven't we?

I love the Mickey pancakes. How cute is that :lovestruc

Thanks for the update. Love the pictures of POR and I will have to make it to rope drop some time! :goodvibes

Thanks! Do get to rope drop. I promise it's worth it!

You all have seen the commercial. I know you have. You know, the Verizon one where the family is in Magic Kingdom, the mom stops to look at Mobile Magic for the wait times, and meanwhile, dad is already riding on Dumbo. Allow me to submit my photo of a similar occurance.

20100529052.jpg

:rotfl2: Thank goodness I kept up with him and waited to check my Droid for the wait times. By the way--I used the Unofficial Guide's wait time app, not the one for Verizon and found it to be quite accurate. But I digress.

We are in the Magic Kingdom, and I have never done the Dumbo stampede. So, of course, this is the time for us!

What I love about Dumbo is the view you get of the Magic Kingdom from there and I hop when they move Dumbo, you can still get a good bird's eye view. I guess for the best view, the Astro Orbiter is probably best, but I've never done it. From my Dumbo with Slugger. . .

20100529056.jpg

It was after Dumbo, that we decided to go over to Peter Pan. We rode Pan, and then stop at number 2 of the 5 million restroom breaks, and then went on to the Haunted Mansion.

I love the Haunted Mansion. As I said before, I see something different every trip. This trip was the names on the wall and the clever word plays! I also love the look of the Haunted Mansion, and took loads of pictures of it there. Here's one. . .

20100529059.jpg

We then went over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash. By the time we were up to the front at Splash it was 9:53. That's when we got the text that the room was ready. We rode Splash, then went for ride one on the Trip Report's namesake. . .

20100529057.jpg

This was the first of many rides, and was in honor of TarzanKat's mom and my mom. The first day of the trip was the 8th anniversary of the loss of my mom and remembering such great moms that day was awesome.

So it's still day one, only about 10:15, and we have lots more to do. What do we do next?

I love Haunted Mansion and POTC too. We didn't ride Dumbo. Looks like I would enjoy the view though.

Wow! You guys are bookin' it thru the park! :yay: So impressed with all you have done so far and you still have the whole day ahead of you!

POTC IS HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE. pirate:
