How many "resort days" do you do?

I will be traveling with my DS4 at the end of August/beginning of September. We arrive in the airport in Orlando at 10:50 a.m. on a Sat. and our flight will be leaving at 6:00 p.m. the following Saturday. That gives us six full days and two partial days. We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

How many resort days do others usually do? We want to really enjoy ourselves and our resort as we have been to Disney annually for the past four years and haven't taken resort days before, but we usually go to Disney with DH and/or other family members. We have done days where we did the Christmas party and so stayed in for partial days, but that's it. I'm not sure how many days to purchase for our tickets this time around.

Thanks!

When our trips were Sat-Sat, we would work in 1-1.5 resort days. But we found that just wasn't enough. So now our stays are 10-11 nights and we do 3-4 full resort days. By doing this we found we actually come home from our trips refreshed, not needing a vacation from our vacation.

Agree with this. Our normal trips are 10 nights/11 days and we usually have about 2-3 resort days, which is divine.
We just got back from a 7 night/8 day trip (shortened due to our new traveling partner - our 4 month old who we were testing his traveling abilities with) and we had 1.5 resort days but it's nice to have more.

None. Instead, we go to the parks every day for rope drop. Spend the 1st hour enjoying short waits on most rides, and then start using fastpasses. Enjoy lunch in the park, and then when it starts getting really crowded with long waits, head back to the resort to relax. So we don't actually spend a full resort day... instead, we spend time EVERY day relaxing the resort. We're always refreshed for the next day.

The days we do go to the parks are exactly how you described. Except we usually go back to the park after sun down. Love the parks at night. :thumbsup2

On our last trip we started the trip with 1 full resort day, then did breaks at the resort most days, and it wasn't enough. We really like staying around the resort, we just love the parks more and they usually win out. LOL

On our next trip we are doing a Disney cruise and starting our trip with two days at WDW no parks, just resort and possibly DTD.

I agree with spending some resort time every day, especially at WL since it is so close to MK. We also find it more relaxing not to go to a park on our departure day, instead we just hang around the resort, have breakfast at WCC, and say goodbye to the lodge. With a 6 PM flight though you may want to pop over to a park for a little bit, but I would plan on being back early if you are catching the Magical Express bus to the airport.

I would love to do this; however, it is not possible for me because of my work schedule. I am hoping sometime in the next couple of years to be able to stay ten or 11 nights. That sounds wonderful. I am thinking of staying in arrival day and maybe the following day, too, and then getting five or six day tickets, but I'm not sure if this would be better or just to start going to parks the day after arrival and taking a break mid-trip. Also, do you usually go to a park on your last day?

We spend tons of time at the resort so for us a resort isn't just somewhere to sleep and shower. It has to have an awesome pool and some amentities.

We do rope drop, midday break at the pool (no nap) and back to the parks in the evening. This upcoming trip I've also added in a few days of sleeping in, pool time and then hitting a park at 5 pm for PM EMH.

For our 7 and 8 night trips we also did one full rest day. For our 6 night trip no rest day.

Our upcoming August/September trip is 10 nights with two full rest days and no park on departure day.

When I go to WDW, I usually do 1 or 2 Resort days per week trip, and we actually save 2 days for strictly visiting other Resorts other than the one we're staying at. The Magic Kingdom Resort area is usually reserved for 1 day, and the Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin Resort area is reserved for another day. And I highly recommend Fantasia Gardens mini golf at Swan Resort, it's an absolute must do for us!

'how is CBR for resort time?'
This my first time there and we love POR and always needed resort time there. Staying Fri to following Sat, would you recommend one full day at CBR?

We enjoyed our resort time at CBR. Along with a full rest day we always did midday breaks when we stayed there. We liked CBR so much we've stayed twice.

We either sleep in or DS did a pirate cruise that leaves out of CBR. After waking up or after the pirate cruise we go to the pool and relax. We stay there a few hours. My kids loved the pool there. My kids are water kids and can literally stay in the pool all day if I let them. The pirate kids area is awesome and DD loved it.

We relaxed on the hammocks after pool time. We like OPR and the kids enjoyed the gift shop and looking around.

On our resort day we went to Ohana for dinner but we could also have done Shutters. I've heard good reviews on it.

It's a very pretty resort.

As of last trip we have started taking one resort day which includes a run to DTD but we always have taken mid day breaks back at the resort during park days.

Thanks, when we are at POR we usually stay there until about 4pm then enjoy F&W festival at Epcot those evenings. We try to do that twice but will only get to sneak one day like that in this time around.

It appears that most people on the boards plan and schedule ther vacation more than we do. We make dinner reservations for each evening but besides that we get up early for rope drop if we feel like, and maybe come back to spend 3-4 hours at the resort if the mood hits us. A few nights we might stay late and watch fireworks etc. Its vacation and its all about relaxing and having fun for us. For me that means no schedule or very little schedule. I will say that we have been to one all star, three moderates and we always wish we had spent a little more time checking out the resorts. I say plan an extra day or two just for the resort and use it when the need arises. A 4 year old may have a day when they are tired and overstimulated etc.

We actually spend more time at the resort than we do the parks. Some days we don't even go to the parks, but when we do, it's only for a couple of hours and then it's back to the resort for relaxation. Like a pp, the resort is more to us than a place to sleep as we like to relax and enjoy the amenities it has to offer. We still enjoy the parks, but the resort is where we spend most of our time. Other than planning a sit down dinner for every night of our trip, we don't do any other planning. With that said, we haven't been to Disney since FP+ was implemented, so it will be interesting for our next trip as we hardly know which park we're going to a day before, let alone 2 months before. We usually just wing it and go with the flow depending on what mood we're in.

Resort days are arrival and departure days. We hop all around the wdw the rest. Parks, resorts, DTD, waterpark. We do take one do nothing day but usually end up at a Dessert Party or boardwalk.

our past trips were sunday to sunday trips this year we added a few extra days because it never seemed like enough time. We are going for 9nights 10 days this time around. We planned almost 2 days to just hang at the resort. One complete day then the other day is when we are planning on hitting up some stores at DTD then back to the resort for the pool. I feel like if I am spending all this money for a deluxe resort I need to get my moneys worth.

Except for the water parks.
We go to spend time in the parks, not the Resort.
I can hang out at a resort that's not 1100 miles away any time. :)
