I should start a poll.
How many points do you have. I want to set up an appointment to tour for DVC, and I was just wondering how many points the average person has.

We have two BCV contracts, both with FEB UY

1st) 175pts

2nd) 50pts

we are probably going to add two more small contracts

1st) 75pts VWL

2nd) 50pts HH

Hopefully this helps.

family of 6 so we stay in a 2 bedroom

original: 175
add-on:120
add-on:120
add-on:120
total= 535

Thanks for the replies. Plus I just received a PM from the Timeshare Store with excellent info.

I am a new member as of 12/26/06...started with 400 pts at SSR

did :
200 + 200= 400 and will add points to each. We have 2 boys so will will them both each one and will build them evenly.

According to a DVC sales representative on a November sailing of the Wonder, the average DVC point total per member family is currently in the high 300's. I remember when we joined in May 2004, our rep had told us the average was in the low 400's, but I imagine the average has come down since so many new members have bought into SSR in the last two years.

It is me and my two kids and we have 350 at SS. and I love every minute!!:cloud9:

We have a total of 450 points, 250 at OKW and 200 an BCV.

We also have some BWV points but are selling them. They are in a different UY than the rest of our points and it was becoming a bit of a pain. We decided to sell them and wait and see if we want to buy some AKV points in their place (and in the UY as our other points!!)

Everyone has different points needs based on when they travel, family size, and which resort they frequent. We based our purchase on when we could travel during the school year.......requires the most points in April....every year. But now a monkey wrench was thrown into my plan with baby #3 due in August. So now there will be 5 of us. I know a 1 bedroom will be fine now but in a few years a two bedroom will be a must. We still have enough points to travel every other year and then some when we get into the two bedroom units......310 BWV.

Maybe an add on AKLV

I am currently in negotiations for 150pts at VWL:cool1:

It seems many of you are excited about the new Animal Kingdom Lodge. So SS and AK are the way to go.
Thanks again everyone for the info. I have all grown children, but I expect to someday be taking my grandchildren, and of course their parents.

We are near retirement age and have 380 points total in 2 contracts...230 and 150. We will likely add on at AKV when it comes available.

I think the average on this DISBoards is a little high.

Buy 150, if you want more buy a second contract, either immediately or later. You can't break up a contract to sell off peices, and there are a lot of people who do end up with too many points for the long term.

(We have 150 - but generally are only using them every other year).

I agree with Crisi!

After a year or so of membership (and trying different resorts) you'll have a clearer idea of what your ideal vacation plans will be and can add-on if you need to.

We have several contracts at BWV 252 + 100+ 150+100 =602 + we just sold a 100 pt contract at HH. We are in our late 50's but use all our points for family and friends. In the future we will spend alot of time in the winter months by our selves but for now its been great sharing the magic.

We have 2 contracts totalling 430 points.

For quite some time, we had 1 200 point contract. That worked OK for us with some "creative" booking. Usually what we'd do is get there on a Friday, stay Friday night, Saturday night & Sunday night in a moderate, then on Monday AM move to the DVC poprerty and check out on Friday. That way, we avoided the expensive weekend points, and I kind of like changing resorts because it makes it seem like 2 different vacations.

We have 100 points at VWL. March 2008 will be our first trip on our own points - after that, we can decide if we *need* more points or if 100 will suffice.
