How many points do you own & where?

Animal Kingdom (Jambo House)--160 points...clearly not enough, but it's what's in my budget for now...

I have 602 BWV split into 4 seperate contracts
28points at AKV.

We used to go once or twice a year but now I borrow and bank to go every third year with a large family group and get the grand villa right during the week starting Thanksgving day. I use AKV points for one night stay just to let the kids see the animals but then off to BWV. We have stayed at most of the DVC's as BWv are usually booked when we have the urge for short term vacations. I also do the FFW every other year for a long weekend with friends who also own at BWV. Have plenty of points but did sell a 100point contract at HH because of impossibly high air fare and not enough time to drive. I used to say you can never have too many points but lately the dues are going up so quickly that I have questioned whether i should reduce my load.

I have 350 points at AKV. Love that amount to play with but am already thinking about adding on!! :) Both DH and I are in education and have to use school break time, so it costs us lots of points for our 2 wks...but since we are so new to DVC, I guess we'll have to see. :confused3

I'm not a DVC owner, but we have rented points to stay at both AKV and BLT and loved them both! I have been looking into possibly buying a small resale contract and I'm torn between the two, but leaning more towards BLT. Right now they have the lowest per point annual dues (4.2219). It will cost a little more up front to buy the points, but in the long run I think it will work out to be a better deal, as long as the annual fees stay lower of course! I figure we can always stay at the other locations too, just booking closer to a trip.

I don't know though, I'm still not convinced ownership is the way to go for us. But I thought I'd throw my ideas out there. Good luck deciding!

To the poster who was considering a 50 pt contract... there is nothing wrong with being a small point owner, it gets you several days in a studio and you could be like me... (and like many others) who add on!

I have 163 pts right now. But I started with ONLY a tiny 25 OKW point contract bought resale in 2007. Today, I have 50 at OKW, 50 at BLT and 63 at WLV. Set up for a three year rotation and 11 month windows at the resorts that matter to us.

We have a total of 385 points. Bought original 185 BW contract in 2000. Added on twice in the early 2000's, 25 point contracts, so a total of 235 BW contracts.
In 2007 we bought 50 AKV points because we fell in love with it and thought this was a good start. Added 100 since then.

We find it to work out just fine with 385 points, but I'm a borrower, since the very first year. I figure we'll be in our 80's when these contracts expire, so we may as well use them as much as we can while we're relatively young and healthy!:goodvibes And use them we do! With many happy days as often as possible :goodvibes

we have 160 points at ssr bought in 2010 at $95 a point we fly from uk which can cost anything from £1500 to £2400 for 2 adults and a child so we generally come for 3 weeks to make most of flight 2 weeks dvc 1 week at a value

We originally bought 200 points at SSR with a June UY directly from DVC in 2005. We determined it just wasn't enough for how we liked to travel, so we added 200 points through resale this past fall. Same resort & UY. We kicked around the idea of getting 200 AKV points resale instead as that is where we like to stay most but didn't want the hassle of owning at 2 resorts

Long Story short - 400 pts SSR June UY.

230 purchased direct at OKW
150 purchased direct at OKW
69 purchased direct at AKV
For a total of 449

We use the points for 1,2 and 3 bedroom villas depending on how many people we have going on a given trip. If it's just the 2 of us, we get a 1 bedroom. If we have 3-6, we get a 2 bedroom, and if we have more than 6, we get a GV.

We find our 449 points a good number for us to manage to get at least 2 trips a year.

We bought 160 points at Animal Kingdom Villas TODAY!!! We plan to go every other year in either February or May and stay in a 1 BR villa for 8 nights. Eventually we might add on when our youngest starts kindergarten in two years and I return to work. So glad to be a part of DVC, even if we don't have many points yet!

Started with 200 back in 2000 and over the years increased the points to 585 at VWL & OKW. Last winter we sold off contracts and now have 210 at OKW. That's enough for about a week in a 2 bedroom at OKW in January.
