How many points do you own & where?

I have enough for 1 bedroom villas, 4x a year...we will have to see if we actually go that often, or upgrade to a 2 bedroom...

600 @ SSR
310 @ OKW

Not enough points though as I'm already borrowing from my 2013 points.

A family of 3 on the west coast of Canada, so we normally do stays anywhere from 2-3 weeks at a time. Once we retire though I plan on doing one 4-5 week trip in the winter.

We are awaiting ROFR on 270 at BWV and 150 at BCV. Hopefully next week! We have paid to stay for 3.5 weeks over the past 2 years at Beach Club Inn, so we hope to increase to about 3 weeks yearly at WDW (and occasionally at Aulani, HHI, VB).

We live in Louisville, but can't find cheap tickets from here. We can find roundtrip flights for about $120 out of Lexington, a little over an hour away. You might look for flights out of a similar smaller airport. Airtran and Allegiant Air are the cheap flights there.

300 OKW
150 BWV

Would like to add 50 pts. at BWV sometime, however, right now we are able to go as often as we like. When we take DD & family with us we always get a 2br. When it is just my DH & I we like to stay in a 1br but have stayed in a studio from time to time if points are low. So far it has worked out very well for us.

We will be going in Oct. with DD & family and will be staying at BWVs in a 2br and hope to go to CGVs next spring. Oh, and we usually stay at least a week each time we go.

we started with 150 @ HHI, then bought 200 @ BWV. Then we sold our 150 @ HHI and bought 100 more @ BWV. Then we bought 150 @ OKW. The, just to make sure we had a nice round number of points, we added on another 50 @ BWV (total = 500)

We initially bought 268 points at AKV in Oct 2008. We chose that amount based on wanting to stay 1 week in a 1BR savanna view once a year during any season except Premier. Of course, with the re-allocation, 268 became a few points short of a 1 week stay in the Magic season. So, last year we bought a 50 point contract followed by a 55 point contract and now have 373 points.

We have found that we often bring other family or friends and need a 2BR. Now we have enough points to do that. Additionally, as you have pointed out, with airfare being high, we have found that we like to stay 8-9 nights to maximize our airfare expense. So, with the extra points, we will be able to do a 1BR for 8-10 nights in the summer when we don't have people joining us.

I would eventually like to find a small BWV contract to use periodically for a split stay or to use every few years during F&W.

We started w/ 250 points at BCV. If we were to buy more, we'd opt for the smaller contracts. We bought resale and would do the same again. Our original contract came with 250 banked points, so we are able to go every year, but every other year, we get a one BR. Yes, flying does get expensive, so we will stay at least a full week.

We have 420 pts. and waiting for ROFR on two contracts. I find this whole thing addictive already wanting more points. I hope we use restraint and stay in a studio so we can stay longer.

:) 210 AKV. DH and I are staying with MIL in Oct in 2 value studios (to each his own :thumbsup2, This gave me enough points to book a standard studio at Kidani for May--I had to purchase the 23-24 one time points to score the room. We have done this the last two years.

DH is tired of staying in a studio. So we are hoping to get another 50 at least, resale the end of the year.

We do not have children so it would be nice to continue taking MIL (she and I get along great, of course she does have her own room) and my parents alternating years.

We own 650 points, all at Bay Lake Tower. We are a family of 4. Now that our kids are a bit older, ages 6 and 8, we have found we aren't comfortable in a studio. We orginally bought 450 points in April '10, then added on 50, 100, and finally another 50 to reach 650 so we can always stay in a 1 BR. We used to go to WDW 4-5 times/year, but now with 2 kids in school we've reduced it to 2-3 times/year.

We have 2 children too but ours are 14 and 18 this year and we have not gotten a 1 bedroom, ever, especially since my mother always travels to Disney with us (she purchased the DVC for us and pays so she has to come LOL... (although we also own a 3 bedroom at Orange Lake Country Club). Anyway, are your children the same sex? If not, you will eventually need a 2 bedroom because they will not want to sleep with each other in the same bed (unless you have one on the pull out chair in BLT).

To the OP, we own 420 points and for the 5 of us (4 plus my mother) we get a 2 bedroom. My dd is starting college end of August so she won't be traveling as much with us any longer during the year but we will definately still get a 2 bedroom for 4 of us.

Can I be REALLY nosy? For those of you who live farther away from Disney, how do you afford to fly down so many times a year? We are a family of four traveling and the absolute cheapest I have found out of Philly is $200/person. This is why we are limiting ourselves to one or less times per year.
We are on the west coast and primarily use frequent flyer miles for our airfare, as well as companion fare tickets. :goodvibes

We own:
Beach Club 333
Animal 440
Old Key West 340
Aulani 420

We bought where we want to stay. We have 5 kids, with one married. We have done 2 bedrooms and sometimes additional studio for our family trips. We are starting this year to stay in GVs. When just the two of us, we stay in studios.

Family of five bought in 2000.

We have 260 OKW and
200 at BCV.

Oldest is getting married. Two of the three "kids" are now using a week on their own here and there. We have invited friends and family. We mostly book studios now since we are not all together now or son's have their own studio with girlfriend or soon to be wife, etc. No more school schedule really (youngest dd is in college now) so the time we travel and size of room has changed.

Which frequent flyer or airline card do you feel is the best deal? I posted this somewhere else on this board with no response.

350 @ AKV
700 @ BLT
200 @ Aulani

We go to WDW a few times a year and plan on going to Hawaii every 3 years which gives us enough points to stay for 2 weeks there at a time. We also go to DL once in a while.

For us, getting an annual pass makes sense and saves us a lot of money. If the airfare is too much or we don't want to use our miles (saving for Hawaii first class) then we drive to WDW.

We have 320 points in total, spread out over 3 contracts:

100 BLT
110 VGC
110 VGC

We are planning on buying more, likely 180-200 more, this fall. We are thinking 100 BLT and 80-100 at AKV. I think we will stop there! LOL

We are a family of 5, but often also travel with my mom. We just stayed for the first time on points and had a 2 bdrm and a 1 bdrm. Loved them at BLT.

200 VGC
200 BLT

Majority of our trips have to VGC as we are local. Will be making our 3rd trip within 12 months to WDW in February, getting usage out of those Premier Passes. That will be final trip until January 2013 hopefully to Aulani with additional studio rooms for family members and us in a 1-bedroom and then December 2013 to take parents to Disney World.

100 at BLT and 150 at SSR
We stay in Studios with DH, myself and sometimes Dsister comes along.
This is just enough for us right now.. until we start staying in 1 bedrooms.

250 SSR
125 BLT

We normally come once per year, this year its twice.

Airfare we are paying from England in Feb coach is $762 each
Airfare we are paying in summer business class is $2450 each
