How Many Points do you have? Home? What size room do you use?

We have 580 points -- 350 at VWL and 230 at OKW.
We book a 1BR and go twice a year. Right now it's September and January, but that may change once DH retires and we have more flexibility.
I wouldn't dare even think about adding on -- unless, of course, we were to win the Powerball!
We love both our home resorts. They are so completely different from each other, but both wonderful in their own right.

Hi Cindy! I am a brand new member so I'm going to answer according to my plans, not what I have done. I've only gone Home once-- two weeks ago, unexpectedly stuck in WDW an extra night because of a blizzard at home, we spend one night in our SSR home.

1) 200 points
2) SSR
3) We're planning on booking one-bedrooms for our family, although when we travel with my BIL (who lives near us) we'll spring for a 2 bedroom and are planning on a GV to visit with my sister's family in 2-3 years.
4) We are planning on going to WDW once a year-- probably couldn't do more, we have to use our other vacation time to visit far flung family members. And by once a year I mean once a calendar year, so may be occasionally 18 months apart... One trip Feb 2006, another August 2007, etc.
5) We could use a 75 point add-on. Right now 200 will work for our needs, because we've started our contract with 200 banked points, and although our week-long 1 bedroom ressies will usually be over 200 we can dip into the banked points for a few years, and then borrow if we need to. But another 75 would make 2-bedroom splurges more comfortable, or give us room for a couple nights at DL when we visit CA, or whatever.

I'm kind of planning to wait on that add-on to see what is coming down the pike. Would love to own at a monorail resort. But if they decided to make it even higher points than the other resort DVC, I'd have to reconsider. VAKL is intriguing, too. Then again, BWV appeals because my dh has a soft spot for it, you can walk to two parts and 11 month access to the standard booking window (biggest for me-- I like stretching points).
6) Too early to say on changes. I'm excited about eventually visiting Vero and HH, would love to see another offsite option.
7) Don't have a favorite. Have only stayed at BWV (years ago, renting points) and SSR; loved both, although they are very different. I will say that while I really like SSR, I'd hate to stay at the same place every year for 48 years so I am grateful for other booking options. I like to mix it up.

Sorry, I had to quote you again, because my short-term memory is so bad!!!

1. 330 points total, 165 at HH and 165 at BCV
2. see above
3. We much prefer a 2BR if the whole family is going. Our family has one adult (me) and two children (12 and 17.) This really lets us take advantage of the space, the extra bathroom, the kitchen, the washer and dryer, etc. and still have a bedroom so that each girl can have her own bed and they can spread their "junk" out without it overflowing into the living room. If only 1 DD and I am going, we get a 1 BR - although for spring break this year, DD12 and I are going to stay in a studio so we can stay a full week. We're going to miss that 1 BR, though!!!
4. It depends, but usually at least once a year, and twice in many cases. I've also added solo trips to the family trips, if I have the points, and we also use our HH points for a 2BR for five days every summer.
5. Yes, I'll add on in the future. For the foreseeable future, I'll wait to see what the next announced DVC property is in the next year or so. If I'm interested, (ie AKL or possibly Contemporary) I'll add on there. I'd also like to add on to VWL in the future, and I'd like more BCV points as well. I'd really like to end up with my HH points (I have what I'd like to have there already) and enough points at BCV and VWL (or at a new property that appeals to me as much as those two do) to stay a week in high season in a 2BR at each resort. That way I can take a "family" trip twice a year to WDW for a week, plus a HH trip each summer for five days, and if the family doesn't go, I'll have lots of points for solo trips or trades.
6. I don't have any changes I'd like - it works perfectly for me!
7. Yes, BCV and HH are my favorites, although I love VWL too. I usually combine a weekend cash stay at the Wilderness Lodge with a Sunday-Thursday stay at BCV in order to stay a full week. And I stayed at the Boardwalk last year, and thoroughly enjoyed that too, so maybe I'll add on there as well!!!(Please know that it's a lot of fun to add these on in your imagination, but if I actually sat down and did real math, I'd probably be strunned at how easy it is to spend that much money!)

I've loved DVC - one of the best purchases I ever made!!!

To be honest, when we purchased DVC, I thought the idea was to stay wherever you wanted, but some people on these boards seem a little grumpy about owners staying at resorts other than their own home resorts. I mean, we honestly thought we were buying into the whole Vacation Club World and not just one specific resort. If we were wrong to think that way, I'll blame our guide!

Shantay1008, OF COURSE you can stay where you want (depending on availability, of course!) DON'T let any poster on these boards try and convince you otherwise! One of the joys of DVC ownership is knowing you can stay at any of the seven properties, depending on your needs and interests! The only issue is with the 11 month advantage at your home resort. At 7 months, all bets are off and anyone can book anywhere. I'd hate for new DVC members to think this is an issue simply because some posters have personal opinions.

3. What size room do you usually book? Usually a one bedroom for DH and I. We've also done a 2 bedroom when we brought my in-laws or a studio for a very short trip.

4. How often do you go to WDW or other per year? At least once a year - sometimes more. Length varies.

5. Do you plan to add on? If so, where and how much? One add on at Vero was enough for us.

6. Would you make any changes if you could? Wouldn't make any changes in what or where we own.

7. Is your home resort your favorite resort...if no, which one is? Yes we love BWV! Vero was bought more for my in-laws use as they aren't WDW people.

I feel like the low man on the totem pole!

1. How many points do you have total? 180 @ SSR
3. What size room do you usually book? Only booked 1 2BR and 1 Studio so far. 1 BRs would do us fine!
4. How often do you go to WDW or other per year? hopefully twice a year. October and first of February. We never plan to go in the peak seasons... YET.
5. Do you plan to add on? If so, where and how much? Not yet. We seem to have done extremely well with our 180! Even if I do borrow from the next year I'll only lose out in my 49th year.
6. Would you make any changes if you could? None yet. We don't stay on points on the weekends; stay at the Airport Hyatt for our usual Saturday morning flight out.
7. Is your home resort your favorite resort...if no, which one is? So far we've really enjoyed SSR. Can't wait to try the VWL though!

Thanks, DVCLiz! I'd hate feeling like an intruder at my own "home-away-from-home"! I think some owners are afraid they won't be able to stay in their preferred home resort because of all the new buyers, but the 11-month booking window should protect them, shouldn't it?

Yes, the 11 month window gives all owners an equal chance (not a guarantee) to make the same reservation. It always amuses me when owners "decide" on rules that don't in fact exist. Once you've reached a 7 month window for your reservation, there are no rules other than "pick up the phone and dial Member Services to check availability."

3. What size room do you usually book? depends - this summer booked an Inn room for 7 nights at VB on points and another Inn room on cash - banked my remaining points into 2006 UY. I wish I had enough points for both rooms (see above ). But, we stayed in a 2BR on cash at BCV in January for a long weekend. Depends on who is w/us.
4. How often do you go to WDW or other per year? well, it's been roughly once every three years. But now that we bought in, I suspect it will be slightly more frequent.
5. Do you plan to add on? If so, where and how much? I think so, depending on how much we've got in the bank. Don't know where yet. Maybe HH, or a new DVC property, if we like the concept. Don't think we'd care for the Contemporary, but would love AK, or another offsite location.
6. Would you make any changes if you could? Make N/S guaranteed.
7. Is your home resort your favorite resort...if no, which one is? Haven't stayed at SSR, yet, so I don't know if it's my fav. So far, we really like HH.

6. Would you make any changes if you could? To DVC, I'd like to see DVC resorts at Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney Resort, and Hong Kong Disneyland
7. Is your home resort your favorite resort...if no, which one is? We've stayed at all the on-site DVC resorts except SSR, and I would say that BWV is our favorite, with VWL a close second.
