I want to get my girls pin trading, they will be 10 and 8. How many pins would you recomend to get them started. 10 each...20 each? I was going to buy some on ebay but thought I'd ask the experts how many to get... want them to have enough to trade with but not too many and overwhelm them (if thats possible).. :confused3

Buying them on Ebay is a great idea. We bought DS6 some on Ebay just for trading, and it worked out great!

I would probably only get them 5 or 6 to start. Unless you know they really want to do this already. This way if they aren't into it you won't have spent as much money. Good luck!

how long are you staying for? And are they interested in trading pins already or is this something you will introduce to them while there?

My DH and the 4 kids all trade pins so they will trade a lot of pins per day. But at the end of the day a large portion of those pins go back into the trading pouch for the next day. I believe DH and the kids traveled with around 150pins for the 5 of them this past trip. They ran out of traders in about 9 days.

Many of those pins will become traders again for our next trip. ;)

My boys are 11 and 8 and LOVE to pin trade - I bought off of ebay a total of 100 for them..

They go through the pile and decide what they want to trade and what they want to keep..

sometimes the keep pile is a little too big...:rotfl:

but all the pins come with us, and they only bring the trading ones to the park - and sometimes depending on what they get in their trades some of the pins they decided to keep become traders..

if your girls get into it another mom gave me the idea of giving out pins throughout the school year as "awards" for good grades, projects, etc. and Im going to have to start doing that!

and it keeps the Disney magic going all year long!

Hi. My DD is in it for the trading only. She likes to pick a theme and gather them for the entire trip. She doesn't care about keeping them, though and just plans to recycle and retrade everything the next trip. Her father and I have had to go through and take some away into our keep pile :)

We found a great seller on eBay with all authentic Disney pins for a little over $1 each. They were perfect.

We found that 10 is the max that fit comfortably on a lanyard for an older child. For a younger one, then I would think 4 or 5 would be max. They are heavy and the backs will rub against your skin if you're there in the summer and wearing lighter weight clothing.
