I read that you are seated with other families for the dinners... :sad2: not that I'm antisocial but I have 3 young boys, sometimes very loud and figety. One of my :littleangel: is autistic. The last thing I would want is to be bad table mates.

We are 5, can we request a table by ourselves?

Yes; call your TA now, or right away when you get on board see about a change. They have plenty of tables for 6.

On our Oct 2007 cruise, we were seated at our own table. There's just 3 of us, so I was really surprised. We've always been seated with other families in the past, but it was nice to be at our own table too.

My husband and I usually take along a large group of relatives with us on vacation (8-12). This is the first time it will be just the two of us on a cruise together, without the extended family. It would be nice if it could be just the two of us together for a nice quiet dinner. Does anyone know if that would be possible on the Wonder?

Thanks.

Hi Blanche,
Too bad you guys are not on my sailing, my son has PDD, and I think our families would have had a blast sitting together! Families like ours have to stick together!

I noticed on our Aug 15th cruise on the Magic this past summer that there were a LOT more tables that appeared to be just one family. We had requested a table for four for similar reasons - my 2 DDs can be fidgety and a little loud sometimes and i didn't want to spoil anyones dinner experience. Plus I felt more comfortable not having to worry about whether my 4 year old would get over tired and grumpy in front of strangers - as it happens she was pretty good but it is stressful when you have young kids and there are others at your table who may or may not be thinking "that kid is whining" or "that kid is a fussy eater" etc...

We are a party of 5 and were seated by ourselves. However, I wanted us to be with another family. Like another poster said, it seemed to me that there were a lot of tables with single families.

Hubby and I have sailed by ourselves a few times and we were always seated with another couple, other couples. There are no 2 top tables in the regular dining rooms but you can request to be seated by yourselves ahead of time by contacting DCL or your TA...it is not a guarantee, but a request...your chances are probably pretty good. DCL does like to accommodate people. If your request was not honored, you can ask the dining room manager once onboard if anything can be done.

Table sizes are 4, 6, and 8. THey can be placed together so allow for larger parties. The biggest table I've been at held 18 (that was a special request).

If you want a table for "just your family," call DCL and let them know. Note your child's special needs, and its a guarantee you'll get it. After boarding, go to "dining changes" and talk to the head server there to be sure you have what you want.

There is one table that seats 14-16 people that is in the center of each of the dining rooms. We have always seen it on every one of our cruises (17). We have used it twice on our cruises with our large groups. Here is a pic of it in Lumiere's but the shot does not show how large the table really is. It is the table in the center of the room, in front of the mural.

I do want to add that DCL is AMAZING at matching up families. At least that has been our experience. OP might want to see the first night if they are matched up with another family and if it might work for the rest of the cruise.
That has been the most exciting thing about our cruises...finding who will we be matched with. It is easy for them to find another 9-10 year old girl for our daughter, but they even found parents with so many things in common with DH and myself it was kind of scary.:-)

Since this is our 1st cruise, for some reason we are very worried about this. We are a family of 3. Do you normally see many like us seated alone or with others.

If you have a preference, call DCL and let them know. They don't read minds. We have been seated alone and with others on various cruises. If you wish to be alone, tell them. Otherwise it will depend on how full the ship is and how the seating works out best for them

What is the maximum # guests a table can hold?

On our Magic Western in November, there were 16 of us together in 5 staterooms. Our KTTW cards had 8 of us at table 18 and 8 at table 19. The first night when the Head server realized we were all together, he said he would take care of it. Each night after that, the tables were already together when we arrived. It was very nice and fun (we at at the assigned restaurant each night).

We are a family of 5 with 3 children under 6 and also fidgety - most little kids are at a long meal. We were paired up with another family of 5 with 3 young kids it worked out great. the kids enjoyed meeting new friends and it actually helped them sit better.

Our servers always brought the kids meals first while we had our first course and than when the kids were done they went to the kids club for some after dinner fun and the four adults enjoyed some adult time.

We than all picked the kids up and went to the show - we had a great time. At a few of the special dinners (pirate, and when Mickey comes) the kids stayed all through the meal.

We were just the four of us 1st time, 2nd time we asked to be seated with another dis family,it was real nice.
Sometimes my dn would bring her friend who was on another roatation and they always made a space for her, they were so so good the servers. I also have to add that the kids on the cruise were ALL so well behaved, they were maybe fidgity but certainly I never heard any complaining around us, I always wondered if it was cause the servers were so good with them? I was on late dinner.
