How many people have added on before their first trip home?

We originally only bought enough points to go every other year. I think I agreed to that because I was scared to push my DH for more! I then not only decided I really wanted to go EVERY year but that I really "needed" BWV points, too. How I got my DH to agree to a second and then a third contract, I'll never know. I think he's a keeper!

We bought at BWV in Jan 2000 and "decided" to add on before our first trip home, which was Oct. 2000. We called our guide before our Oct. 2000 trip and she had everything ready and we did the add on while there in Oct.

October 2002 - purchased 30 additional points

Won't go home for the first time 'til June 2003

We bought 200 pts at BCV in July 2002 and added another 100 in Nov 2002 before the price increase. We still haven't been home, but we're cruising on points this year. We're also trying out the Shelburne Murray Hill Hotel in NYC for a weekend. Hopefully, we'll finally make it home next year.

We bought at VWL in Jan 02, added on in June 02, made 1st trip home this past Dec., all without even seeing the place, unless you count seeing the roof from the monorail.

We bought 200 BWV points in August 2000. We came home and realized that we should have bought more, so we did a 100 point add on right away. A year later, we decided that we should also own 100 points at HH, even though we had never been there. The place just looked so beautiful from the pictures we had seen, and everyone had such nice things to say about it. At this point, we still hadn't made it to BWV either! So by the time we actually stayed at any DVC property, we had 400 points including the 2 add-ons! Now we have 465, and we are done!!

Initially bought 400 points at HH last year, and just got another 150 at VWL with 47 more banked and available.
Right now I have 597 and planning to use them as we originally intended - CRUISE!

Although there is a good argument regarding the "best use of points", I feel that for us - the cruise is the best use of our points since we don't have to do anything once we get on the ship. Food, entertainment, kid's club, etc, is right there and for us, that is our vacation!

I am now looking for more points but not sure where or how many - someday we might get tired of cruising and want to take advantage of one of the other great ways to use our points.

We avoided the DVC booths for 3 years(timeshare and all), when we finally went, we we sold and bought 150 at VWL. Came back and researched this board and planned our vacations and realized we were way short. Thus added 250 BWV points within a week. 4 months later we made our first trip. Once we stayed in the rooms, we fell further in love, when we got home we added another 150 BWV points.

We purchased 150 points at VWL in February of 2001 and added on another 150 at VWL in April of 2002. Still not enough - could use more -- will wait awhile before purchasing more though!!

I think there is a rational reason for the add ons so pre-maturely.

When you decide to make your first purchase you may tend to be too conservative, but once you "get into it" and start dreaming bigger and playing with the possibilities, while simotaniously realizing that makeing the payments are easier than you had origionally imagined (maint or finance)and soooo worth it for all the happiness you are now feeling......

well you all know what Im talking about.

I took my first trip in Feb 1995, and did my first add-on in March 1995......so, I did wait! But, I didn't have these boards to come to and get excited about getting more points!

I cannot tell a lie. We purchased add-on points while we were closing on our resale.

yup, we did it too....bought vwl 170 points sight unseen, added on once more sight unseen, and another add on since going and having such a wonderful time. Trying not to do another add on right now, just refinanced the house and got some cash back, HH looks really tempting for an add on, I'm trying to resist....the problem is, DW would let me add on if I just ask....

We had been to WDW 5 times before we purchased and only stayed on-site 2x (both at Shades of Green as a guest of someone else). In Dec. 1999 we stayed 1 week at Orange Lake & 1 week at SoG. Even though I had been talking about DVC for months, my DH had no desire to take the tour during that trip. We had never even been to the International Gateway, let alone the Boardwalk area. In March '00, for my birthday, he surprised me out of no where and we purchased 210 pts. Our first trip home was in August 2000. In April 2002 we added on at BCV and have never even been in the Yacht or Beach Club.

Since purchasing in 2000, we have been 8 more times!
